After the fun ?we had yesterday, trying to solve a maths puzzle , I thought I would post a simpler one, then we can build up the difficulty over the period of incarceration!?
Not only do you have to solve it, you have to explain how you got your answer. ?
Good luck! There will be an ? from the teacher for all of those who solve it.

I've started a brand new challenge on a new discussion:

Please do remember the CAPITAL! wink I'm a pedant at heart! grin

Triangle answer

Callistemon Thu 02-Apr-20 22:48:39

Perhaps if we put the answer without the working out,?

Bathsheba Thu 02-Apr-20 22:47:14

Sorry - Marydoll, with a capital blush

Bathsheba Thu 02-Apr-20 22:46:37

The only way to play without giving it away to others is to pm the answers to you marydoll, but can you imagine your inbox? You would be absolutely snowed under! shock

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 21:59:22

Willa, keep on posting! I can PM you to tell you if you get it right.
Gosh, that sounds a bit patronising, not meant to be.
Stay safe,

I'm having to delve into my stash of puzzles from my teaching days. It's hard work!?

Ahh...that makes sense.....I live on the East coast of Pennsylvania, USA and about two hours from NYC, ( (epicenter of US Pandemic ). Pennsylvania is now seeing more cases too. DH and I are sheltered in place and safe at home. I look forward to your puzzles. Unfortunately, I'm not always on line and off sync time wise, but I'll figure it out.

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 21:35:50

There isn't any way. I just don't confirm the answer until later on, to give others a chance.
Just enjoy!

willa45 Thu 02-Apr-20 21:25:53

I just realized that I'm the one who may have given it away this time (If I solved correctly? but how else can we all play without being the 'spoilers'?

willa45 Thu 02-Apr-20 21:22:11

1,3,6,10,15,21,28

1 + 2 =3
3 + 3 =6
6 + 4 =10
10+ 5 =15
15 + 6 =21
21+ 7 =28

Hint: Look for a pattern, that's another problem solving strategy.

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 20:32:15

This is just a puzzle to keep people going, until I post one tomorrow.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 02-Apr-20 20:28:03

Is that the mornings puzzle? I’m sort of flumped.

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 20:21:38

I think I might start a new thread every day, as it will be less confusing.
What do the virtual mathematicians think?

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 20:18:34

Triangular numbers can be thought of as the numbers of dots you need to make a triangle

Can you give the number of dots in the next two triangles in the sequence?

Bathsheba Thu 02-Apr-20 15:34:49

Callistemon grin

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 15:32:14

Oh, dear.???

I will ensure I make the questionS are clearer in future! ?

Callistemon Thu 02-Apr-20 15:18:53

Oh! I thought that was a question and have been trying to find out of if parts of beef had names to do with socks!
Shin, shank etc!

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 15:07:44

? for all!

willa45 Thu 02-Apr-20 15:05:44

Oops.....(haven't had my coffee yet)
Each unit (of 30) divided by two = 60

70 is correct!

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 15:03:27

Butcher one was a wee, cheeky starter this morning early on..

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 15:02:25

All correct, apart from the last one

Callistemon Thu 02-Apr-20 15:02:05

Is the butcher one a new one or did I miss it?

Marydoll Thu 02-Apr-20 15:01:33

Willa, good afternoon. I respected your wishes and didn't publicly acknowledge the correct answers.

Where are posting from, if that's not too cheeky an answer?
