I have trawled every where to find an answer to my question.
At the end of WW2 the russian army got as far as a broad line on the river Ellbe.
When did the Russian army
move back towards Russia/Berlin?

It was agreed before at Yalta, google “Line of Contact”

I guess nobody in the U.K. worried too much about how Germany was carved up, WW2 was over.
