Good morning. It is rather overcast here on the river..no sparking water today. Hopefully later. I have to cut wood today...my old jetty. It has kept me warm through the colder weather. I have an electric reciprocating saw. Usually cut enough for a few days. My Mr Motivator DVD is due to arrive today so later a walk to my post box to get it. Need more exercise. Walking is rather boring alone. I do take food for the river birds with me. I don't have to social distance from them and they are happy to listen when I talk to them....

its a bit dull and dreary here in cheshire, but never mind i have already been to the zoo and new zealand, courtesy of virtual tours, no need for social distancing and no aching legs after all that walkinggrin. Have a healthy, happy safe day everyone.

Good Morning All x
I did say " White Rabbits " to myself earlier. smile April already !
This time last year I was getting excited with the family visit from Oz in June. Good job it's not this year.

Dull and grey out there today and though not too cold though because the sun's not out, it appears colder.
Well I'm alright food-wise for the rest of the week, but how I'll get on next week remains to be seen----but no use worrying at this juncture.

I should get cracking with more sorting really because once the weather improves I won't want to be doing much indoors with a park and prom on the doorstep.

The news doesn't get any better. For the first hour of getting up earlier I just pottered around before switching on, then had my breakfast before watching flags being lowered in Rome for the amount of people who'd lost their lives.

Nothing much doing apart from preparing dinner ( corned beef hash ) I might nip out for a cabbage which will do me today with the hash and tomorrow with bacon and mashed potato----all easy enough and also nourishing. I don't feel as though I've eaten unless I have a cooked meal daily.

As usual I hope everyone's well and coping alright although I think we're entitled to the odd wobble now and again.
Stay safe and well everyone xx

Good morning all from a grey day in Glasgow which isn’t a great mood lifter.

I’m having a lazy start to the day so far, still in my goonie and feeling quite decadent. I awoke to DH’s Spotify choice...Christmas collections?

I never thought a supermarket trip would be the highlight of my day. DH has been doing any shopping but I need a change of scenery today. So many things we took for granted, even moaned about, now seem like a treat. Strange days indeed!

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmafrench Wed 01-Apr-20 10:28:36

Your lovely Mam was probably trying to tell you it’s going to be alright, gilly. You can only do your best...try to think about yourself (and you could always ask your selfless Sister to make an extra pie and drop it on your front step next time she remembers she’s still got a Dad). TAKE CARE, big hugs for you. x

gillybob Wed 01-Apr-20 10:22:02

Good morning from the NE coast where it’s grey and miserable (a bit like my mood). Had a rotten night of bad dreams, little sleep and lots of tears. I think it’s the hopelessness and the non ending ness that is getting to me.

It’s 4 years today since I lost my mam. She was only 73 . She was in my dreams last night Happy and smiling. sad

I’m doing a big shop for my dad and ourselves today. Well I say big shop, that obviously depends what is left on the shelves when I get there. I’ve got my dads meals planned for the week which is one less thing to worry about and I’ve arranged for his prescriptions to be delivered direct . Of course my sister did drop off that shepherds pie earlier in the week wink so he should be fine.

Later today I am going to start cancelling most of the direct debits for work and home as there will be no money to pay them . Tried for hours again yesterday to speak to council tax office, the bank etc. But ended up sending more emails . Had worrying email from insurance company regarding the business insurance and the fact that they almost expect break-ins . Not sure what else I can do to make the place more secure? More worry.

Anyway I’m just finishing another cuppa then I’m off out .

Wishing everyone the best day possible in these awful circumstances we find ourselves in .

Love Gillybob xx

Auntieflo your elderly neighbour must be feeling very alone after losing her husband so recently, and then her dog too. Lovely that she felt she could phone you for a chat - you must be lovely neighbours to her ?

Good morning from a sunny clear blue-skied Godalming.
My invigorating run started at 5.10 when I woke up, earlier than usual. There were a couple of others en route (riverside) going the opposite way and, when I got to town I sat for a bit and had a Tesco breakfast bar (delicious) and water before the return run.
Looks like an idle day...may sit in the courtyard and read as nothing else on.
I placed an Amazon order last night and noted the delivery date was 28th April ??
Fired off an email to seller asking why it would take 4weeks to get a parcel from Birmingham to Godalming, Surrey.
2 hrs later about 9.30 an email, ' We're pleased to tell you that your parcel will arrive tomorrow, before 9pm'.
??
Vac'd and washed all lampshades yesterday for something to do, it's getting ridiculous.
I might go to the fruit n veg stall in the Pepperpot shortly. Fresh raspberries and ice cream for pudding...I hope. ??☺️
I hope you're all finding stuff to do and keeping positive in mind body and spirit.
To all those who are desperately wanting to return and waiting for flights, I hope it's sooner rather than later but from what the media puts out, it will mean a fortnight being quarantined on landing. Some flights are charging £8-20k... unbelievable!!
???to all who are feeling lonely, unwell and anxious re family situations. TG for GN at times like this and thanks to all at GNHQ ? who understand our frustrations which are evident in our posts.
Take care, stay safe.

Morning everyone, Had a really positive day in the garden yesterday in very warm sunshine (out of the wind). Only able to potter as guarding my rib. DH helped move lots of pots and I deadheaded and fed plants. Lots of flowers on my succulents, tulips very pretty and the good old night scented stock from last year still fills the garden with perfume at night.

Made a smashing loaf of Nigel Slater bread which I shall cut in half and freeze part for bakery emergencies! No potatoes for Mary ‘s Maccie Bars, sadly - the recipe for which reminded me of being fooled by Panorama’s “spaghetti tree” April Fool’s joke all those years ago. Most of us then only hesitated slightly because it was Panorama!!! How times have changed!

Off on holiday today! Had quite enough of this lockdown now!

Have changed the linen and so........off to another bedroom tonight, different view, different bed. Same excellent DH room service, hopefully.

Before then need to stocktake in our fridge and keep a list of what’s needed - otherwise ‘people’ may go out shopping this week and come back with the wrong stuff!

Have the very best day. Try to stay positive in sickness and health. Huge hugs and well wishes to all who need it. X

Good morning from a grey, cold Norfolk.

Tesco delivery last night so sorting the freezer day today to do a meal plan.

DS, DD, and DGS facetimed last night all together which was nice almost like being together.

I have several knitting and sewing projects on the go but can't seem to settle to one maybe as time goes on it will get easier.

The garden is looking lovely now, such a shame that growers will have to dispose of all the bedding plants.

Going out for a walk later to get some fresh air, even though I have a lovely garden it makes DH and me feel a bit better.

Hope everyone stays safe and well.

GrannySomerset Wed 01-Apr-20 09:45:47

Grey and cold when I went out to retrieve the recycling containers. Notice they have not picked up the cardboard and wonder whether they will. Will leave it out for a bit longer.

Did nothing yesterday and feel worse for it so will get to grips with the new vacuum cleaner, at least downstairs. That and floor washing will make me feel as though I have done something useful.

Thinking of our many posters with real problems and wishing everyone a positive day.

Auntieflo Wed 01-Apr-20 09:43:56

Good morning Michael, Annie and all. It is beautifully sunny here, but frost on the cars.
Yesterday afternoon, one of my lovely young neighbours phoned to say that she was passing a shop on her way home, was there anything I would like. I asked for a small pot of single cream, but there were only large pots. So she decanted some into a container, and brought us a couple of slices of home made cake.
Another elderly neighbour, ( older than us) phoned for a chat, and to see how we were. This was so kind, as she lost her husband last year, and has recently had to have her dog put to sleep. This situation has brought out the best in folk.

Last night, I finished making a little knitted figure, "The Snowman" , from an idea posted by another GN'r, on another thread.

What to do today? Maybe clean the oven? Or not!

We only went for a very short walk yesterday, as my knee was so painful. Usually if I walk, it eases up, but not yesterday. Hope it is better today.
Will prepare for our evening meal, Leek and Ham Pasta, and maybe persuade DH to tidy his study. ?
Wishing all who are poorly or fed up, stir crazy, a good day.
Stay safe and take care one and all.

Dragonfly, I'm embarrassed to say, the letter was only 5 double sided pages, how I got 9 I don't know! blush

Thanks, BladeAnnie, all the delivery slots here for the major supermarkets are booked for the next two weeks! sad
I'm trying to work out how to access the ones for people, who are shielding.

Annapops Wed 01-Apr-20 09:24:04

Good morning all from a very grey looking County Durham.I

All our trips this year, both here and abroad are now cancelled, although we are still awaiting airline announcements. Our yearly travel insurance expires in May so there is sure to be a loss we will have to take on the chin for some things we have booked. Under the circumstances I am not going to mope about that.

Keeping busy with cleaning, tidying and sorting. The loft is now bulging under the weight of numerous charity bags. Oh how some of those charities must be suffering due to lack of collections, especially hospices.

I must try to venture outside for a walk today. We live opposite a disused railway line valley walk which is popular with dog walkers. I am usually down in that valley every other day but since lockdown I have avoided it. I'm really scared I may be developing some kind of phobia about venturing out beyond the garden gate,so I must make an effort to conquer my feelings.

Wishing everyone some joy will come their way today. X

BladeAnnie Wed 01-Apr-20 09:21:13

Good morning all from a grey and quiet mid Notts. I managed to get a delivery slot with sainsbury's for Friday. Marydoll - when you go on the website it says in the top right hand corner login/register if that helps at all. We have had a delivery pass for several years but I'm sure that was how I initially registered. Started another pram blanket yesterday for our cleaner's (who us sadly not able to work for us atm) daughter. I think at least when I finish I can leave it out by the door for her to pick up. Corned beef hash for tea which I can make in advance during the day smile and continue with the knitting. Stay safe everyone and may Wednesday be kind to us all x

Good morning from a sunny Fife. Didn't sleep too well last night, DH was up feeling a bit sick, it's now passed so no idea what the problem was. Going to go out yet again into the garden, garage rhones are needing cleaned up so I will do the bits I can reach. The usual tidy up in the house. I managed to get a slot for order and collect at Sainsbugs yesterday for collection Saturday so feel better I don't have to go into a shop. Had lovely video with DGS's and DD so it cheered me up yesterday. Will get out for our usual walk and it's so nice to see everyone keeping their distance. Have as good day that you can.Stay safe.

Good morning Mick and all his followers!
It was looking like a good day at dawn but now our part of Suffolk's grey. probably as well - I am going to plant the new flowerbeds and the sun was surprisingly hot yesterday. A day or two of grey will give things more chance!
One of our local nurseries is doing prepaid sales and contact free pick ups or delivery so I can start shopping! I need compost for the big pots.
Have a good day everyone

Taichinan Wed 01-Apr-20 09:06:00

Good morning all. I've been lying in bed watching the sky - a favourite occupation - and catching up with the news. Lots of blue in both! It's lovely and relaxing not having to feel guilty about, well, relaxing! Though I do like to have taken in the milk and paper before the postman comes! Sorted my steam mop yesterday so really looking forward to cleaning floors today. My oil tank was refilled yesterday which is a bit of a relief. Usually it comes within a couple of days of ordering but this time they said they were inundated with orders. Don't tell me people have found a way of storing panic-bought oil now! I'm beginning to think I'll believe anything these days! Coronavirus is creeping closer and there was a death in a town about 20 miles from here reported yesterday. It all seems so unreal somehow. But onwards and upwards and breakfast beckons. Stay busy, cosy and above all safe everyone. ?????

Marydoll Wed 01-Apr-20 08:58:22

Dragonfly, It was definitely nine pages and double sided! sad. It didn't upset me, as I was expecting it anyway. I think my children were more upset, ostrich scenario!

I was trying to find out how to register with Sainsbury's but can't find out how.
I have to text to an NHS Scotland number to get support, but that's all I can find.

Scentia Wed 01-Apr-20 08:57:31

BlueBelle
I am actually missing the potatoes but have everything else! My DH has said it is not essential to go out for potatoes for macaroons ? I will have to leave it until I go shopping on Thursday!!

Anniebach Wed 01-Apr-20 08:56:58

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Scentia Wed 01-Apr-20 08:54:41

I have purchased a bracket for her, I intend to take up a new sport when all this is over, it is called Bikejor and I think my dog and I will be naturals?

BlueBelle Wed 01-Apr-20 08:53:48

Was getting excited to make the macaroon bar Marydoll until I saw your recipe list all I ve got is the potato ???

conor Wed 01-Apr-20 08:45:53

Good morning from sunny Essex. I don't think the weather knows what is going on in the world as the sun continues to shine. Busy day yesterday with work out, yoga, cleaning and gardening. Did have time to chat (at length) to some friends in the afternoon. We all said how nice it was as we didn't seem to have "the time" before all this! Decided NOT to upload my singing video to Gareth Malone as think he has too much to worry about without looking/listening to that! ?
I was getting stressed about it all so decided to just enjoy the singing in the privacy of my own home!
A friend's husband in his 60's was admitted to hospital yesterday and she is so upset that she cannot see him. That is a really hard thing when you can't be at your loved one's bedside.
I hope everyone can find jobs to do today and try to enjoy the sunshine?xxx
