While we’re all stuck indoors for the foreseeable, we thought we’d put together a Gransnet daily challenge to keep us all busy and entertained. We’ll post a different challenge every morning on a range of different topics - food, fitness, arts, crafts, writing, etc.

First up...write a haiku about your favourite person or your favourite food.

For those like me who have not yet branched into creative writing of this type, here's how to do it courtesy of wikihow

To write a haiku poem, write a poem that's 3 lines long and make sure each line has the right number of syllables. Give the first line 5 syllables, the second line 7 syllables, and the third line 5 syllables.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Cat in my garden.
Drinking the bird bath water.
Tastes like bird soup, yum!

No-one sees the grass
Let it grow until Christmas?
It will be a first

What about a Limerick? - topical, of course?

The goats who lived on Great Orme,
Come to shelter at time of storm,
They came into town,
Found no-one around,
Started grazing on hedges and lawn.

Slowing down the pace
I feel greater connection
To those I love dear

I had to write a Haiku as part of my daughter's English homework. This was when the X Files was on the tv.
David Duchovny
I think he's sexy looking
I wish he was mine
I got a 'Cheeky' x

Its time to go and never return

Cloudy, cold outside
DH snores gently away
Shall I make tea?

Sun in a blue sky
Blackbirds singing in the trees
Some things still OK.

Witzend Wed 01-Apr-20 14:51:39

I am not hungry
So why do I keep wanting
Something really nice?

Cheese on toast would do
With Worcester Sauce and onion
I will make some now.

Did I marry Graham
To be with him all day long
We rub along fine

SarahCGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 01-Apr-20 14:25:36

Am I actually
hungry? Or do I just now
work close to my fridge?

BlueSky Wed 01-Apr-20 13:49:05

Well I've learnt a new word. Was I the only one who's never heard it before?

so luscious and so tempting;

Bathsheba - no yeast? - do you have any yogurt?

If so, make sourdough:

Failing that, what about sodabread?
