While we’re all stuck indoors for the foreseeable, we thought we’d put together a Gransnet daily challenge to keep us all busy and entertained. We’ll post a different challenge every morning on a range of different topics - food, fitness, arts, crafts, writing, etc.

First up...write a haiku about your favourite person or your favourite food.

For those like me who have not yet branched into creative writing of this type, here's how to do it courtesy of wikihow

To write a haiku poem, write a poem that's 3 lines long and make sure each line has the right number of syllables. Give the first line 5 syllables, the second line 7 syllables, and the third line 5 syllables.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

We can't see it yet,
Our life beyond Corona
Like blue above clouds

The sun is shining
Today I will see bluebells
Our woods are deep blue

When I am set free
Will I be too scared to jump
Into the unknown?

So May the Fourth be with you
Hope that helps us all grin

henetha Mon 04-May-20 11:02:22

That's good Bathsheba
It brightened up a dull day
In these virus wars

Seagulls wheeling o'er the sea
Squarking hungrily
We have fish and chips for tea

So no daily walk just yet
But plants are happy

May7 Tue 05-May-20 14:33:26

Blossom blown about the lane
Lilacs hanging on

Leave fireworks for another day

Celebrated by many
At a distance, though

Both army heroes

Florence Nightingale
Two hundred years since her birth
What would she think, hey?

henetha Wed 13-May-20 10:24:36

She might be surprised
At modern methods, and yet
Pleased by the kindness
