When Did....Become...?

I was a chemist, NOT a pharmacist! I worked in food industry laboratories. Chemists and Pharmacists have always used these terms, it was the less informed public who couldn't tell the difference.

I phoned someone and was told oh they are not at their desk they are in the chill out zone ? finally worked out they were in the staff room!!

Around here all school children are referred to as 'learners' which is accurate in general, I suppose.

And everyone is referred to as a 'legend' - really?

When I started working at an FE College in 1990, I worked in CLARS (College Learning and Resources Centre). This became the LRC (Learning & Resource Centre) when computers were added, then the Learning Centre - It's now the Study Hub
In all that time, while the staff who worked there called it by whatever current name it had, ALL teaching staff and students called it the Library. (Yes, we did ask whether it could be called that, to simplify matters, but the suggestion was greeted with horror...?).

I also get irritated by the jargon sometimes used to indicate the speaker is ahead in his/her job. Blue sky thinking, going forward, and worst of all forward planning.

Wool shop become yarn shop ( I know not all yarn is made of wool, but if you could knit with it was genetically referred to as wool)

The thing that really annoys me is when a couple announce that ‘they’ are pregnant. They may be expecting a baby but only one of them can be pregnant.

People say "something turned out beautiful" for example, rather than beautifully. Dropping the "fully" from many statements.

Talking" with" someone, not To them.
