So proud to see that the design technology dept of my local school has made 165 PPE visors and handed them to the hospital
Hopefully here’s a picture

Yes, well done. My DS is doing the same with his school 3D printer in Spain.

Eloethan Sat 04-Apr-20 16:03:37

Yes, it is a very enterprising and much needed project and shows what can be achieved when people work together to solve a problem. Well done to them and all the other people who are using their knowledge and skills to help others.

That’s brilliant of them! Our next door neighbour is doing the same at his work and I’ve been lucky enough to get one for DD who’s frontline.

How are the school managing to do this if they’re closed?

NanKate Sat 04-Apr-20 16:10:13

Charleygirl5 Sat 04-Apr-20 17:14:04

I have also just seen it- a worthwhile project and it will be much appreciated.

Lucca Sat 04-Apr-20 17:49:58

Update. The school is planning to continue production at a rate of ,200 per day. They have shared the technology with other schools in the area. The visorsare 100% plastic so can be cleaned and reused whereas others are disposable. They are also fully adjustable, allowing for no gaps around the head therefore heightening safety.

Someone asked how they do this if they are closed, it’s the staff for the design tech department doing it. That’s right, the whingeing teachers who, some people, said in a thread not so long ago, wanted schools closed so they could have extra paid holiday

midgey Sat 04-Apr-20 17:53:47

Oh that is really impressive! What a great effort. More power to their elbows.

SirChenjin Sat 04-Apr-20 18:01:36

That’s amazing of the teachers ???

rafichagran Sat 04-Apr-20 18:03:38

I agree, they are going something worthwhile.
