News tweeted by Robert Peston..poor man..hope he gets well..

Greymar Fri 10-Apr-20 09:16:52

Mr Chowdrey, a skilled brave, empathic man who quite literally risked his life to help others, will be forgotten in a heart beat on this site by most.

gillybob Fri 10-Apr-20 09:16:51

Personally I think he has a thankless task on his hands and cannot imagine anyone else would have done anything any different. This is like a war that no one saw coming .

Greymar Fri 10-Apr-20 09:15:23

Elegran, where are these posts? Targeting? He is one man, one flawed individual. There were moments when a bit of me felt for the man, floudering , struggling, his eyes drooping more each day. This was not a person at the top of his game.

Elegran Fri 10-Apr-20 09:12:16

I never claimed anything about a fantastic job, incidentally.

Elegran Fri 10-Apr-20 09:11:05

Ok, fine, he is now out of danger so back in the political sphere and a legitimate target, but those who were attacking him and posting personal abuse about him while he was in intensive care were displaying their own insensitivity.

SirChenjin Fri 10-Apr-20 09:06:02

All it says Elegran about my nature is that I’m not a hypocrite - I can wish another human being well in their recovery from this awful disease but I think the Govt could have done far more and I believe their treatment of the NHS and its staff has left a lot to be desired over the years.

Lucca Fri 10-Apr-20 09:02:16

Greymar i take it you were referring to elegrans post?

Your post is spot on.

FarNorth Fri 10-Apr-20 08:59:58

For anyone who missed it :

Abdul Mabud Chowdhury, the doctor who wrote to Johnson asking him to provide adequate PPE for NHS staff. He has since died of Covid 19.

Greymar Fri 10-Apr-20 08:58:57

No they are not. What a load of nonsense. He is a man, a human being first and foremost, and nobody wishes him anything other than good health.

I don't believe he is doing a fantastic job and I can say so if I wish without some high handed criticism from the GN moral police.

FarNorth Fri 10-Apr-20 08:58:20

The man is out of intensive care, sitting up and chatting.

His, and his government's, actions or lack of are having a potentially lethal effect on many people especially those working in the NHS.

Views on his political actions are completely separate from a wish for him to recover.

Elegran Fri 10-Apr-20 08:48:06

Those who can't resist political comment when a man is in intensive care with a potentially lethal illness are saying more about their own nature than about him.

Greymar Fri 10-Apr-20 08:31:40

Perhaps they will tell the rest of us.

FarNorth Fri 10-Apr-20 02:18:45

Labaik that is terrible news.

How Boris's admirers can continue to think he and his government have been doing a fantastic job, I don't know.

Eloethan Fri 10-Apr-20 01:21:30

I think he was only 52 - if that's the gentleman mentioned on the News today.

Labaik Thu 09-Apr-20 23:01:30

And I think everyone should spare a thought tonight for Abdul Mabud Chowdhury, the doctor who wrote to Johnson asking him to provide adequate PPE for NHS staff. He has since died of Covid 19.

SirChenjin Thu 09-Apr-20 22:23:03

Here’s hoping Labaik - and all the other fantastic healthcare workers who put their own lives at risk to treat him.

NanKate Thu 09-Apr-20 22:19:40

Great to have Boris on the mend. ?

Labaik Thu 09-Apr-20 21:25:11

Perhaps he'll allow the Italian doctor who saved him to stay here without having to pay @£1,000 [or however much it is] for the pleasure....

SirChenjin Thu 09-Apr-20 20:45:48

This is excellent news - he must be so grateful that we have such a fantastic NHS ???

Urmstongran Thu 09-Apr-20 20:17:31

tickingbird Thu 09-Apr-20 20:04:32

Just to add - hoping everyone else in hospital with this virus recovers and goes home to their families and loved ones.

Smileless2012 Thu 09-Apr-20 19:34:43

I was just coming on with the good news; as you say tickingbird whoop whoop. Still in hospital but obviously doing much better.

tickingbird Thu 09-Apr-20 19:32:28

It’s just been announced as breaking news on Sky.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-Apr-20 19:27:20

His family must be extremely relieved

aggie Thu 09-Apr-20 19:25:14

where did you hear that ?
