Callistemon - Harry from Nottingham IS from Nottingham in fact.
Although originally from Alloa in Scotland he now lives in Nottingham. He is a journalist.

harrypaterson.com
He is also on Facebook.

Yes this is very worrying news. I think that he is the best PM that we have seen in a long while.
Get well Boris and have as long a convalescence as you need. You have a good team who are deputising in your temporary absence so you look after yourself.
My best wishes to both Carrie yourself and your family.?

He looked shocking last week in his briefings, it was obvious that he wasn't well. The news is absolutely shocking and I sincerely hope that he pulls through.

.”... being such a light for this country.”

Wow. How? Any prime minster would have led the country, stood at the podium etc, it’s what they are there for.

And before anyone starts, that’s not a nasty comment wishing him illness etc.

mcem Tue 07-Apr-20 11:31:04

Thank you lucca.
You "get it".

Ilovecheese Shutting down any criticism of a Government figure is a dangerous path to tread, that way lies dictatorship.
For goodness sake, there have been countless Boris bashing threads. This is not the time or the place to criticise him. It is the time to pray for him.

Chewbacca Tue 07-Apr-20 11:26:06

Well put sparklefizz

Hetty58 Tue 07-Apr-20 11:25:17

I feel sorry for everyone with this virus, including Boris. The country will run pretty much the same without him, though. Why all the weird hysteria about one individual?

Barmeyoldbat Tue 07-Apr-20 11:23:09

I agree with you ilovecheese, the thread shouldn't have been taken down but the GN verbally abusing others should have been deleted. Paddyanne was entitled to air her views without the abuse she received.

Annecan Tue 07-Apr-20 11:22:25

Such a hardworking positive force.
I am so grateful to you Boris for being such a light for this country.
My heart and prayers are with you.

Lucca Tue 07-Apr-20 11:21:28

Mcem. All best wishes to your granddaughter. Of course nobody wants anything awful to happen to,Boris, but I am not distressed heartbroken etc etc for him personally I am distressed for a friend whose sister just died all alone in a London hospital, for a neighbour whose wife has been told her 59 year old husband isn’t going to make it. I agree 100% with Alexa.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 07-Apr-20 11:20:29

Well put Ilovecheese.

Sparklefizz Tue 07-Apr-20 11:19:43

You've missed some of the nasty comments then, Ilovecheese

Babs758 Tue 07-Apr-20 11:18:51

This whole thing is so scary.. I am not a huge fan of Boris either but he is doing the best he can in extraordinarily circumstances. I really hope he gets better..

Ilovecheese Tue 07-Apr-20 11:17:22

In all the threads about Boris Johnson's illness, I have not seen one post that wished him ill, not one.

Shutting down any criticism of a Government figure is a dangerous path to tread, that way lies dictatorship.

We have free speech in this country, one of the reasons we are so lucky to live here. As long as no one is inciting hatred or violence towards another we should not shame anyone into suppressing their opinion.

12Michael Tue 07-Apr-20 11:17:18

Lets hope that he gets through this period , and he recovers enough to pass on his personal experience to others .
Mick

I reserve my concerns primarily for my GDG.

Surely out of concern for all DC/GC it is a huge worry that the government could be wiped out by this.

Its not mutually exclusive.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 07-Apr-20 11:16:23

I don't think we need a government of national unity.

I wonder what you find wrong with using all the talent we have Lemongrove. This is an exceptional event in all our lives.

When I heard Tony Blair saying they needed one person leading and responsible for testing my first thought was "get him in". We know he is good at getting things done and we don't have to like what has happened in the past in order to have the best person doing the job they can do.

Or do you think it's worth the loss of life so you can stand on some imagined principle?

Moggycuddler Tue 07-Apr-20 11:15:37

I dislike the man and his politics but I am very sorry to hear he is so ill and I do wish him a full recovery soon. A strange and worrying time for us all.

MargaretinNorthant Tue 07-Apr-20 11:14:27

I feel afraid too MawB

mcem Tue 07-Apr-20 11:14:21

Key workers, along with the rest of us should not be shaking hands with those in a covid environment.
Key workers in wards are inevitably in close contact.
I reserve my concerns primarily for my GDG.

notanan2 Tue 07-Apr-20 11:13:52

Key workers who get ill are expected to rest and try to get better.

Oh is that so? The 23 year old nurse who died was REFUSED permission to go home when he developed a temperature

We are all clapping those who KEEP working even if theyre running themselves into the ground. And when they do, thats wrong too!

Give him a break. There is HUGE pressure on all keyworkers to NOT put themselves first right now. BJ included

seeker4life Tue 07-Apr-20 11:12:03

A very apt comment, Alexa.

FarNorth Tue 07-Apr-20 11:09:15

He is a key worker. Key workers arent working "against advice"

Key workers who get ill are expected to rest and try to get better.

annep1 Tue 07-Apr-20 11:09:04

Because we don't agree with someone's politics is no reason not to be sympathetic when they are ill. We are all human beings.
