The NHS was set up in the 1940s to offer basic treatment for 40 odd million people. How can the same system cope now treating almost double that number with very expensive life extending operations and drugs and life enhancing procedures, some unnecessary (in my opinion), as well as coping with addicts, people generally living longer and the breath of mental health issues many people claim to have. It would need every penny of tax we pay for it to be perfect to suit everyone.
The German system is being praised for coping with this virus and their medical care is insurance based so, if you desire a system like that, then there is a need to move towards the same sort of thing. Giving up fags and alcohol would probably cover the monthly premium so there's no excuse that everyone couldn't afford it!...and nothing is more important than one's health. Isn't that so?
