Good morning fro Fife. Spent time in garden this morning. Saw a butterfly. First time this spring. Took a photo of it. No word about getting a grass cutter yet so just have to wait and see.

Good morning everyone, may I join you? I usually tolerate living/being alone,being disabled,very well, but just this morning.....?
I,too, am on the vulnerable list and had the phone call about the food parcel a couple of days ago. I refused it - for now - but it's nice to know that the option's there...meanwhile my hairdresser,who happens to live nearby,called round as she was en route to S'burys a few days ago, so now I can state that coq au vin rouge, shellfish in white wine, and spaghetti aglio-olio-peperoncino are now on my menu again. SUCCESS!
Bed news = spoke with my cleaner, she reports that there have been 4 deaths from CV in the complex she also visits near here.Really brings it home.

Good morning form a slightly warmer north of Scotland. I was able to get a little work done in the garden yesterday and did some proper cooking for once, that is portioned up and in the freezer. I am struggling to do much as there are no time deadlines and need a nudge to try and do a t least one task a day. Off to try marydoll’s brain teaser and hope I can get an answer that is printable.

My middle daughter who is staying with me (changed jobs and stuck between houses!) is out cleaning both our cars and really enjoying herself! Simple pleasures!! And the sun is shining. My job - to turn the tap on the hose on and off! I think I’ve got the easy bit!,

Morning all, now on our fourth week of lockdown, wondering what a supermarket looks like.Managed some gardening yesterday and today will try some more. Wonderful respiratory nurse rang to check on my husband, she told us to expect call from consultant re his on going lung, pneumonia problems.

Ordered and are now receiving a daily newspaper delivery. I didn't even know anyone still delivered until I learned from a neighbour. We have set up a Whatsapp group in our road and are sharing all kinds of information, helping each other with shopping if someone is out of an item and someone else has a delivery due. Where to get compost delivered etc etc as we are all into gardening big time now. And it's good to get to "know" people. We have all stood outside and clapped for the NHS on Thursdays and are going to have a big street party when this is all over. ?

Good morning Mick and the GM team. It’s sunny in east London and the birds are singing.
I usually read the Guardian with my early cup of coffee, but the news looked pretty grim ... so I am avoiding it for now.

We received a food parcel from the Govt via our local Council as we’re on the vulnerable list. It’s a comprehensive package including tinned soup, breakfast cereal, potatoes and carrots and some fruit. We accepted it gratefully but we won’t need it in future if we can get priority grocery delivery slots.
In the meantime, I will make some carrot soup ...

Glad that you are back with your novella Marydoll but sorry to hear your SiL is getting herself into such a pickle and that it is falling on you to sort it out?
You ham does sound delicious BlueSapphire. I haven't got any left in my freezer now ?. It's a shame as I fancy slow cooking somewith dates and soaked apricots.

Sunny and bright but more cloud than yesterday. It's remained quite dry for what seems to be ages now but I'm not complaining.

Front page news here got off to a bad start. The binmen have walked out ! Goodness me, when I went to the corner shop yesterday I walked past a restaurant which was heaving with rubbish outside and thought to myself it'll be gone on Friday---------no it won't ! The rubbish obviously contains lots of unused food in dozens of bags and will be very worrying for those around. It was a heap of bags.

Many weeks ago before the virus struck, there were talks of a strike with the binmen over wages but once the virus came around they all promised to work through it----being accommodating and thoughtful, but now their reason is because they feel at risk from the virus in their job. Indeed !!

D going to the supermarket later, armed with my long list which should last another month as it's now 5 weeks since I went shopping. Wish I could go with her ! I'm frustrated.
Just noticed an Iceland delivery to the same house as last week----how do they do it ?

Clouds are dispersing and it's warming up so will decide what to do with myself today. I've just seen a green butterfly fluttering by as I opened the patio door, a first sighting for me, how lovely. This warmth will be bringing them all out soon.

CherryCezzy, walking for me is more laboured since the lurgy over the New Year too. My chest/lungs still feel that I can't get enough air. Could do with an x-ray really but now isn't the time.

Very late this morning after an awful night for no obvious reason. Feel like last week’s lettuce but have got DH up and facing the day and the first load of washing in, so hope when I have had a nice strong coffee I will feel more like life.

Lovely pictures of the moon. Not as clear as that here but the sky was very light and the garden washed in silver. I was awake to appreciate it far more than was good for me.

Am going to try to order some plants from a local nursery so wish me luck.

I must get on with my current baby knitting as baby is due this weekend. I will then leave it outside for the new proud nanna to pick up and take to her daughter's door. It's another beautiful morning, and even the fluffy white clouds have dispersed whilst I've been reading everyone's posts.

I imagine there will be quite a few people getting irritable with each other mick during this lockdown period.

Managed a trip to the supermarket yesterday to get stocked up with essentials again. No flour, but luckily my niece managed to get me some from a different shop so I'm ok again for now. No baking powder, either. It was a reasonably pleasant experience actually - the queue to go in was short and fast moving, and once inside, people (well, most) were sensible about social distancing. I was back home within 40 minutes.

The moon last night was gorgeous, wasn't it? It occasionally got covered by cloud, but not all the time. Your photo of it is beautiful, Gabriella.

Your beach looks very inviting, gilly. I adore the Northumberland coastline. I have family living up there and my grandparents and aunties came from that area too, so every time I visit, I feel as if I'm going home, which is strange I suppose, because I wasn't born there.

You must be so worried about your SiL Marydoll and of course your concern will be heightened because you can't visit her. ?

My plan is to make my simnel cake today - I had intended doing it yesterday, but got tempted out into the garden instead! Your ham sounds delicious, BlueSapphire. I've never cooked one in orange juice before. I did one on Monday in the slow pot and used cola and water mixed. It made it very tender. Like you, I've frozen half of it in portions for another time.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s white cloud again, no sun but not chilly. It’s Day 26 out of I’ve lost count and does it matter anyway? Spain seems to have peaked as 4th day continuously now of decrease in new cases although sadly, and to be expected, not deaths.

I’m late posting. Our youngest daughter rang for a chat. Early bird! Mind you the children wake around 6:30am so one up all up there. A good friend of theirs is a funeral director in an established family business. He was telling them how very sad it is in these unusual times. He was on call on Sunday night and instead of the usual two calls or so during the night, he had nine. He said it’s distressing for the families as they can’t visit at end of life and he isn’t able to go round to offer professional opinion and comfort. Everything has to be arranged by phone and he really feels for the bereaved right now. So sad.

You look after yourself Marydoll as you are providing a vital PUBLIC SERVICE with your on line quizzes dear lady! Your poor sister in law - so distressing for you trying to help her when her mind isn’t on the right channel.

Gorgeous photo Gabriella. Running outside is THE BEST isn’t it? So much nicer than a treadmill in a sweaty gym. I used to love listening to the sound of the wood pigeons cooing ‘c’mon * c’mon *’ as I ran - daft but it was my mantra and spurred me on! I was really fit in my early 50’s I should never have stopped doing it. Silly me. Now I’m fat and breathless....

Sorry to hear that your secret walk has been discovered Marydoll. I felt a bit like that on Sunday when we walked a nearby path. DD used to go and visit a school friend at the end, and it is now very built up, and loads of people were walking there. So have decided not to go again.
After catching the end of a programme about Cornish Pasties, last night, I thought I might have a go and make a couple for us, but no swede. Still the local shop may have some.

CherryC. Don't let some snarky old Moo put you off. Why not 'phone tomorrow/again, as gilly suggests, or get your OH to do it? Try to sympathise : that woman hasn't grasped the concept of dealing with anxious people, at all. She's probably not good at her job or knowing the answer to all the enquiries, BUT she's loving the bit of power that she has. There's always at least one in every clinic, hospital reception, gp surgery. Don't give them the chance to affect your health. As for the cough.....wouldn't it be great if we could all be/have been tested ! Enjoy your coffee and have a good day.

That’s not nice CherryCezzy . We have a couple like that in our surgery too and they act as though they are the all powerful gatekeepers ..... “you will not get past me”. There again we have some lovely ones too, that’s why I thought maybe ringing back you might get someone else. I do hope you are going to make another appointment .

Morning everyone from a still, cloudy Angus coast. Sorry the photo went ahead - wasn't sure how it worked! Another day of contemplation and basic tasks ahead. Ashamed to say I'm better at the contemplation than the tasks! Mancgirl you are so right - the world is such a beautiful place and it feels good to have the space and time to appreciate it. "My" field was ploughed, planted, sowed, fertilised and de-insected etc the other day, with tractors whizzing backwards and forwards and every which way - but none of them tooted or waved to me. I guess I've lost the cuteness of a three-year-old ?. Lovely video call from GD3 yesterday. She seems to be coping with incarceration very well, in spite of the fact that she's a dancing gymnast in 'real' life! She's decided to bake again which she did a lot when she was little (she's all of 14 now!). Judging by the photo, I wish I lived closer! Marydoll please don't try to fix everything, you do need to watch your own health and stay positive. First thing any of us would try to do is help someone like your poor SIL. However, when it amounts to you both feeling like throwing in the towel because, quite frankly, it would be easier to herd cats - then maybe you need to back off a bit! She is probably computer-illiterate and the exact opposite of you. She needs not to be left alone with anything complicated and to work out for herself that she's just going against everything you try to do for her. Sounds harsh, but for a time anyway what can you do from the situation you're in. Have a good day and count to 1,000 ? (again)

gilly you're such a softy. I feel exactly the same when I think about our beaches - not empty and beautiful now, but empty and abandoned (by law). I feel a real ache when I think of our missing walks. But, it will come again. We all know that, we've just got to hang in there. Shopping? Can't say anything about that other than head down, get in, get out, get home. Awful.

Gabriella your ex does sound like a keeper . You don't need to respond to that with something otherwise unprintable. Do think (as your personal advisor for today) that you should carry your 'phone when you go off on your silly-o-clock runs. It's only recently that you were crippled with leg pain. What if you should have an accident or you need to contact someone for help? Please stay safe includes you, as well. . Loved the photo.

I received an appointment letter from the breast centre yesterday for follow up and mammogram. I wasn't sure what to do as I'm shielding so I rang. Is it just me or is it actually true that doctors and hospital receptionists are "bred" to be terse? She was so curt it upset me and I cancelled the appointment.
It was far too cloudy to see the pink moon here last night. Disappointing ?
I noticed yesterday that a few of you were posting about your experiences re. having illness in the winter with symptoms resembling the virus. I had 2 bouts of what I thought was flu over the winter, that never happens. I had one that developed a couple of days after the flu jab and that resulted in a cheery cough & runny nose etc so it wasn't the virus. Just after Christmas however whilst out shopping a woman started chatting to me and coughed in my face, disgusting. Less than 36 hours later I was "hit" again, only that time I had a dry cough and no runny nose but it wiped me out. Walking was so hard, I could only manage slow baby steps and it was an incredible effort. I still have a dry cough.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do today! I'm still sitting on the bed drinking coffee ?.
