During one of the recent coronavirus meetings, journalists were asking questions that were so facile as to be pointless. Several asked Chris Witty and Raab about the PM's condition and those responding said exactly what we knew they would: that they is not the medical advisors in this situation and could not comment. Still they pressed him - what the heck else did they think he might say? Did they think he might be stupid enough to indulge in speculation?
Perhaps being locked down is getting to me, but I am becoming more and more irritated by this ridiculous news style. I turn on the headlines, then switch off, because I know the rest of the half hour will be padded out with such nonsense.
Laura Kuensburg's reports, as she stands outside Westminster or No 10, are pure speculation and padding - she could say what needs saying in one sentence - or even one word sometimes..
