KEEP CALM & MAKE SOUP!

I got a big bag of carrots in my grocery delivery, so am searching out recipes for carrot soup.

I think making soup is about feeling capable, thrifty and in control. It’s easy, it almost never fails and it’s a tasty lunch. So we are rendering some order and common sense into these strange days.

Merlot the size of your delicious looking pot of minestrone for just the two of you, made me smile...? its a hard habit to break making family sized meals!

My batch today was chicken, leek, carrot and broccoli trimmings!

It's not too hot for soup!
I made a pressure cooker full this morning.
Apologies for no photo, as we each had a bowl at lunch time, and the rest is portioned up and in the freezer.

I have been making soup too. Wouldn't think of it normally so wonder why i am suddenly chopping vegetables and dusting off my freezer dishes?

It's too warm for soup. I'm into making cakes and biscuits - some meant for the freezer (but I tend to eat them all). Smaller quantities perhaps?

Love soup, we will finally finish the Christmas turkey this evening when I turn the one remaining tub of turkey stock into turkey soup.

I did consider keeping it for Easter, but we have a nice little lamb joint for Sunday and turkey soup just didn't feel right, so soup it is for tonight (and tomorrow).

Missfoodlove I think that could be it, cathartic and wholesome.

Plus, with both Mr.P and myself working from home, there now seems to be a need for "lunch"!

Soup has a comfort factor about it. It is also surprisingly filling and apparently it has been worked out by scientists that it sustains the appetite for longer; has a slow release. There are hundreds of soup recipes. It is versatile, many recipes can be easily tweaked and are easy to make. It can be made using very few ingredients or very many. It can be basic, it can be inventive.

I also feel that by saving celery leaves and asparagus stalks I am doing my bit!

Making soup, bread etc is a very cathartic act that somehow always feels wholesome.

I guess that as I’m not a medic or key worker I need to keep the home fires burning in my own little way.

Too hot here for soup. Broccoli lollies anyone?
