Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey and wet here in Brackley this morning, when I went to bed last night , it must have started then.
Typical Bank Holiday weather , anyway today try to do some shredding ,and other things .
Its finding a daily routine , with the lockdown, so certain things apply to certain days as a routine and day memory .

Largolass, thank you for that information. She said that she was very surprised to see so many people around; I think she was from the north, Groningen (I think) is her childhood home, so that's where I imagine her DM's funeral to be.

Good evening all. I have spent a lazy day today reading the paper watching documentaries on Netflix. Just about to start preparing dinner using yesterday's roast lamb. I am a front line worker in health care so was utterly exhausted by last week so made a conscious effort to relax and rebuild my reserves. I'm supposed to be on AL this week but have said that should I be needed I obviously will be available for work, so I am enjoying the peace and quiet while it lasts. Sending good wishes and hopes for good health to all.

It depends whereabouts in Surrey you live.
I'm in South Surrey, Godalming, and here and immediate surrounds it's been very warm and sunny. 21deg yesterday.

GabriellaG54 Mon 13-Apr-20 17:19:51

...and fresh fruit for pudding.
I indulged earlier and had 2 teaspoons of
M&S choc/hazelnut spread. Yummy.
What excitement will tomorrow bring...???

GabriellaG54 Mon 13-Apr-20 17:16:12

Back at the ranch...it's been a wonderfully sunny day here in Godalming. No rain at all (good job the water butt is 2/3 full) and the earlier bit of breeze has died down.
Another day of idleness - a home pedicure, a small white wash and that's it.
Had a nap this arvo and the sun was so strong that my face caught the sun, very noticeably too. It's so warm I have the fan on.
Dinner will be a vegetable omelette and

I read about Zoom ages ago. Not the article Marydoll mentions but several other articles where the authors have expressed strong reservations about it's use.
I, for one, wouldn't use it.

moggie if the drum is unbalanced, it won't spin. This has happened to me when I washed a bath mat. Put something else in the washer (a couple towels?) with the bathrobe, and it should spin.

moggie57 Mon 13-Apr-20 14:19:06

no rain in shirley croydon .but it is colder than i thought .so no gardening today...done washing .but then new washing machine refused to spin.so its dripping outside.....looked at instruction book ,says clothes should balance .em theres only one bathrobe in there......grrrrrr.

(A late) Morning everyone from S.of France. Very warm but grey skies today and some rain forecast. Still, no watering necessary and sun promised again for tomorrow, so will actually do some work in the house today! Yay!

Man and truck arrived from the council while we slept early today and took away an agreed amount of our hedge waste which DH put outside for collection yesterday. When we look at what’s now left in the garden to dispose of, it’s the equivalent of me cutting 2 long stems of hedge and then carrying them outside. Still, mustn’t be churlish! Will get on and make lots of arrangements to visit the local tip which opens tomorrow again......by appointment only !!!!

Heard the proposals that France will be keeping its borders closed until September or October this year, along with other countries. Holidays for all look to be cancelled. We aren’t going to be the first to break it to our DS and family in the UK. He’s going to go nuts! The thoughts of fishing and snorkelling are the only things keeping him going in lockdown at present..........

Sorry about your pooch, Scentia (what a sweet photo). Years ago our family dog was diagnosed with a form of Keratitis and the Vet said that travelling through a seaside resort hanging out of the window of the car was the cause. Sand and dust etc., had affected the surface of the eye. Whatever it is, I’m sure the Vet will have a potion to cure and all will be well again. In the meantime, boiled salted water (cooled) is always the best thing.

Enjoy the weirdest Easter Monday as much as we can, everyone. Good thoughts and virtual hugs to all who are sad, lonely, unwell or anxious. Let’s stick together - we’ll get through this. flowers

Good afternoon from warminster to Michael and everyone here on Gransnet.
It is a lot cooler here today so we are having our roast lamb for lunch.
Thank you Urmstrom for the warning re Zoom Houseparty etc. I think that you do have to be very careful and mindful about secure sites.
Hope that you all have a peaceful day.
Stay safe. Carole.

After temperatures in the low 70s yesterday it is cloudy & chilly today in Surrey.
Hopefully it will improve as the day goes on- I can see some blue sky peeping out.
Can't complain though- we have had a lovely few days & I have a tan!!!

Feelingmyage55 Mon 13-Apr-20 11:43:17

NfkDumpling Thank you?

Urmstongran Mon 13-Apr-20 11:30:54

Torrential rain here in Spain right now!
☔️ ☔️
Grey mist too. Can’t even see the sea.

Curlywhirly Mon 13-Apr-20 11:23:02

Aw, Scentia that's good, I'm such a worrypot when it comes to animals and children. Hope you get her eyes sorted, and wiping with cottonwool pads soaked in cooled boiled water will definitely soothe them. thanks

Good morning from a very chilly north of Scotland. The washing is out but may come back in asa stiff as a board. Alexa has just told me it is 2 degrees. We have a local farm shop who have delivered fresh food to me. Usual prices and no charge for the door to door service. How kind. I have fresh asparagus for dinner tonight ?
Had a shouty conversation with my neighbour yesterday so no gossip was exchanged.
Our church is streaming devotions every day for Easter and that has kept me going, especially as my family have joined me from other “airts and pairts” which made me feel less alone. The services are so popular the minister is adding in midweek sessions. The live chat at the side indicates that lots of us are having coffee at the same time. Best wishes for us all on this very different Easter.

Largolass Mon 13-Apr-20 11:20:28

Bluesapphire Holland IS on lockdown and all shops are closed as are the schools. We have family in Holland and FaceTime them weekly so I know this information to be true.

Good morning from a chilly, grey Newcastle. Yesterday the weather was cold and miserable too. I kept getting messages from friends and family down south saying how warm it was there, Aggh
I’ve got a little sofa in the bay of the bedroom window, usually it faces into the room and tends to be a clothes dumping ground. I’ve now turned it so it faces out and it’s like a little sanctuary where I can sit and read but also look out down the street - not that there’s much to see. It’s very peaceful and helped me yesterday when I had a wee wobble.
Watched a lovely programme on BBC4 last night about someone travelling the canals on a narrow boat - really enjoyed it although not a great deal happened.

I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

Taichinan Mon 13-Apr-20 11:07:53

Happy day everyone. Mick I do admire you finding a routine, because I haven't - just tend to do things as they occur to me - or not! Yesterday, a gorgeous day, I went down the garden to feed the fish. Since I was out there anyway I decided to mow the grass. I then noticed it was time (well, past time) to remove the dead heads from the hydrangeas. During this I was exchanging banter with DCs on our Family WhatsApp plus other friends and family as well. It was such a lovely day, but routine didn't come into it. We don't use Zoom btw as are unsure of its security. How sad that our lives are controlled by the mean and wicked. NfkDumpling I saw that poem too and had a chuckle. Today is grey, breezy and cold on the Angus coast so it's a potter-and-keep-warm day. Didn't sleep well last night - not for any reason, just 'one of those nights' - so a bit lethargic today. Maybe some tai chi then a game of 'housework against the clock' for 60 minutes. Have a lovely day everyone - well, you know what I mean. ???

Susie60g Mon 13-Apr-20 11:07:37

Maybe your poor pooch has hey fever or conjunctivitis. If you cant get to see the vet. Try wiping the eyes with cotton wool dipped in warm salt water. X

She only goes with the bike a few times a week, she will walk the rest of the time.

Curlywhirly Mon 13-Apr-20 11:00:30

Scentia regarding your dog running whilst you cycle - it is great exercise for a relatively fit dog to do, no doubt about it. But, if it's the only exercise a dog gets, I always feel sorry for them. The best part of a walk for a dog is the sniffing! It is their 'newspaper' and a welcome opportunity to get information from and socialise with other dogs (leaving their scent and finding new scents). But, I do realise that accompanying their owner on a bike ride, if that is all that can be managed, is far preferable than no walk at all.

Scentia Mon 13-Apr-20 10:45:06

No draught as far as I know. They just look so unhealthy compared to how she normally looks. Bless her, I have been wiping them with boiled water like the vet said and will get a diagnosis tomorrow no doubt.

Good morning Michael, Annie, and all, from a windy and cold bit of Berks, after the beautiful weekend.
I haven't yet read all the messages, so will come back later, but a bit disconcerting to read about possible Zoom problems, as we have used it a couple of times.
Have a good Easter Monday one and all.
Take care and stay safe.
