Who are they to tell us?

Harry and Dr Chris

The recent TV interviews with Dr Chris and Harry were dire.
Dr Chris looked in need of healthcare himself, frail and telling us to eat bananas beans and yogurt + vit D to keep healthy. He even had trouble remembering the good bacteria in probiotic yogurt.
Ruth Langsford, who was interviewing him, had to remind viewers that eating those things wouldn't prevent Coronavirus.
I really wish they wouldn't wheel out those old medics who used to be part of programmes years ago.
On another video I see Hazza telling, telling our government what to do regarding parents of mentally challenged children.
He looked as if he'd been pulled through a hedge backwards.
The caption said that he was Zooming with NHS staff and parents to tell them how brave and good they were and that the government should be doing more to help them.
He was talking in his capacity as head wallah of some charity or another.
Most comments said what a b*** disgrace he looked and he had no business saying anything about the UK, as he left his country, his parents, his military obligations and pals and his home and his wife hasn't even seen her father or asked him how he's doing in this crisis.
Captain Tom has done more than Harry could ever do. Not just money-wise but in his bringing together people for a common cause without any fanfare or fancy rigmarole.
Harry is a disgrace.

They don't have auto cues either!

Don't make the mistake of thinking it's all natural and spontaneous on TV spouting erudite thoughts and that they are all gorgeous with lovely hair.

Sparklefizz Fri 17-Apr-20 19:40:03

I think everyone on TV at the moment, including various presenters, looks tired or less than their usual perfect selves - having to do their own makeup, no professional contouring or concealers. They just look more natural, like the rest of us. grin

Callistemon Fri 17-Apr-20 19:05:59

I just googled Dr Chris Steele again.

He's 77.
I don't know why wheeling out those old medics (are there others?) is wrong.
He has the benefit of years of experience. He's probably the same age as many on here - does that mean we shouldn't be posting our opinions which may be then reposted on Facebook, on Twitter and in msm and magazines around the world?

Should we all be silent after a certain age?

Callistemon Fri 17-Apr-20 19:02:37

Dr Chris is looking pretty ill isn't he.
Perhaps he looks better with studio makeup.

SirChenjin Fri 17-Apr-20 18:01:57

Crikey - you’re fired up tonight Gabriella aren’t you? So much angrr, it can’t be doing your blood pressure any good.

Btw - mentally challenged is a revolting expression. Nowadays we refer to people who have learning difficulties, learning disabilities or additional support needs, depending on their diagnosis or need.

Chewbacca Fri 17-Apr-20 17:35:53

Dr Chris is looking pretty ill isn't he. Shame he's not himself in this occasion because he's normally very good at giving basic medical advice and putting people at ease.

As for Harry..... I feel a kind of pity for him. I reckon the penny must be dropping by now at the enormity of what he's given up, compared to what he's gained.

Chewbacca Fri 17-Apr-20 17:31:18

If only Gaby ever had anything positive or helpful to say...

Here suziewuzie; let me hand you this mirror, it seems you need it ?

suziewoozie Fri 17-Apr-20 16:02:02

Well foghorn anyone like Gaby who posts something that is not true, in this case about the doctor’s advice, is clearly spoiling for a fight. Why is telling lies so acceptable on GN? Although tbf it’s generally only lies by right wingers that are judged acceptable

FoghornLeghorn Fri 17-Apr-20 15:42:01

suziewoozie. Really spoiling for a fight eh Gaby ?

Oh the irony. ?

Madgran77 Fri 17-Apr-20 15:37:03

I suppose he's trying to be relevant; I wish he wouldn't.

I agree with that.

Jabberwok Fri 17-Apr-20 15:36:59

I think most of us feel deeply saddened by the loss of Prince Harry. He always seemed such an easy going likable, genuine young man, contrasting with the more serious less exuberant Prince William., most of us were fond of him and certainly
wished him well on his marriage. What a fabulous team they could have been, both for the RF, the Commonwealth and this country. What a disappointment it all went so badly wrong. But as it has, perhaps he and is wife could concentrate on their new country and leave us, who they have rejected, alone!

Callistemon Fri 17-Apr-20 15:35:26

Gabriella I didn'z/ see the programme but have just googled Dr Chris and realised I have seen him before.

His points are quite valid, I think, about boosting our immune system.
Your other point about him looking frail and about old medics may or may not be valid as I didn't watch the clip. However, with age may come experience. Yoof is not always right.

The other thing is that I have noticed many people who are now broadcasting from home are looking decidedly less spritely, well-groomed or glamorous than they do normally when they have the benefit of makeup artists, hairdressers and good studio lighting!

GabriellaG54 Fri 17-Apr-20 15:20:42

15.17 to suziewoozie

GabriellaG54 Fri 17-Apr-20 15:17:35

My name is Gabriella.
I couldn't possibly be misinformed. I watched the programme, I heard what was said.
Craftycat only repeated what the doc said and I didn't infer anything different.
As for my 'awful threadS' about women's appearances.
I mentioned nurses. There are male and female and other genders too, no doubt.
Mentioning weight is ok if you are slim or athletic, tall (not short...a no-no) have muscles (but can't mention flab)
So many people who take offence.
You mention threadS...plural.
In what other threadS started by me have I criticised the appearance of women?
There was one last year when I talked about a guy in Guildford bus station being a 'bit heavy' (acceptable phraseology?)
That's one thread, not threadS.
If you have some beef with me then get it over with. I'm not here to please you and you obviously don't read all my posts.
Might I suggest you give my contributions a miss.
There...now that's a helpful suggestion. ?
and I will avoid any further chat regarding your thoughts on my posts.

Ruth Langford is married to Eamon Holmes. They present This Morning sometimes. Not a regular viewer myself. It's on at 10.30.

Dr Chris is/was the resident doctor on the show

No idea what Harry has been up to. I must have missed him too!

Callistemon Fri 17-Apr-20 15:08:49

Oh, I see which Harry you mean now.

I didn't see him.
Perhaps he still cares about us all.

Callistemon Fri 17-Apr-20 15:06:44

I'm not sure who Dr Chris and Harry are.

Dr Chris who?
And Harry who?

I have heard of Ruth Langsford but haven't seen her programme, what time is it on please?

I agree about Vitamin D but we did get some more from sunshine this week; however we may need a top up after the winter we've just been through.
Yogurt (live) does provide us with probiotics which are also good for the immune system.

However this virus does seem to attack perfectly fit and healthy people too.

3nanny6 Fri 17-Apr-20 14:59:51

There is some sadness that many have turned their backs on Harry. Mainly he has brought it all on himself and his choice of wife has undoubtedly made him lose sight of everyone and everything that was once important to him. They say love is blind and it seems so.

suziewoozie Fri 17-Apr-20 14:54:25

If only Gaby ever had anything positive or helpful to say.....

suziewoozie Fri 17-Apr-20 14:53:02

I couldn’t give a flying fig what Gaby thinks of Harry but her awful threads about women’s appearances are utterly beyond any decency. And her comments about the doctor on here are snidey and more importantly misinformed - crafty is right about the information he gave.

merlotgran Fri 17-Apr-20 13:49:34

I agree with the OP. Harry does hypocrisy with knobs on.

JenniferEccles Fri 17-Apr-20 13:43:38

Certain posters who continually appear on threads simply to cause trouble are best ignored.

Boredom will soon set in if no one reacts or comments.

Chewbacca Fri 17-Apr-20 13:29:29

Are you in an echo chamber suziwoozie? Why do you keep repeating posts back with the prefix really? confused

Barmeyoldbat Fri 17-Apr-20 12:51:03

Suziewoozie, why are so nasty to some people, even if you don't agree with the post. You can't seem to say anything negative without having a snipe.
I actually agree with GG54, Harry is irrelevant now and I think there will come a time when he really regrets it.

suziewoozie Fri 17-Apr-20 12:42:56

Two long posts basically saying you don’t care ...hummmm
