Tesco slots

Sainsbury’s have done me proud. Between them and Ocado I have managed one delivery a week. Sainsbury’s try hard with their substitutions too.
I’ve got less fussy too.
Main hurdle - cat sitting on keyboard when ordering.

I book online each week with Iceland. Very reasonable prices. Free delivery if you spend more than £35. They release 2 days worth of slots at at random times during the day so I have to keep looking. I have also used the Morrison’s service for vulnerable people. You ring 0345 611 611 and order from a human being basic list of 45 items. Again free delivery the following day. This week, although I only spent £17 they included a free bunch of tulips.

I have just placed an order with Sainsbury for my vulnerable parents for the first time.

Got a priority slot for tomorrow which I thought was great seeing as it is the first time I have used them. Very impressed.

Only thing I couldn't order was any flour.

FIRST HURDLE: Getting a delivery slot

SECOND HURDLE: Try to order essentials

THIRD HURDLE: Will everything still be in stock on the day of delivery?

FORTH HURDLE: What will their substitutions for some items be?

FIFTH HURDLE: Endless 'cleaning' what's needed that day from the delivery

SIXTH HURDLE: Not enough room in fridge/freezer ...

We're in self isolation (both over 70) and quite healthy.

Had two Morrisons' deliveries - had to wait nearly 3 weeks for them

Never ever been able to get a Sainsbury's, Asda or Tesco delivery slot.

Nearest for a click and collect is ASDA (7 miles) so done 2 of those (waited 10 days).

Tried Waitrose at the weekend and they say I am a priority user! I have a Waitrose loyalty card and presume that because I put my DOB when registering, they regard me (70) it's why they see me as being a priority.

Best is my little local SPAR shop, (7 mins drive away) We had no bread, veg or fruit so rang them, paid over the phone and collected it late that night. She put it outside when I arrived (2 hoots on the horn) smile

glammanana,
Thanks for feeding back,I feel strongly that the supermarkets are all profiting a little too much from this and would like to see smaller companies getting the trade.
Do keep looking at the website as I know they are trying to adapt to the customers needs so may have some more appropriate deals.

I have tried most supermarkets for delivery and found Tesco to be the best.
Although I regularly shop in Sainsbury they wouldn't even register me for delivery and we are both over 70.
Had one delivery from Asda, but have managed three from Tesco.
This delivery slot scramble is causing a great deal of stress for many older people who do not want to risk going into shops.
I regularly shop in M&S but their only offer for delivery is a choice of four prepared boxes of stuff we don't need. For example one box of 20 items contained 5 items of confectionary, including Percy pigs!

Missfoodlove My friend has used them and she was delighted she lives in mid Cheshire and was able to collect it is not worth me ordering as even the smallest box is too big for me being on my own,but well done to them for their excellent produce.

I think Sainsbury’s are handling this well. I am a regular customer, and have so far managed to get a slot most weeks. After the vulnerable slots have gone, they then release them to regulars, which I think is fair.

They don’t let you book for weeks ahead, so there isn’t a situation where some have slots booked up for ages and others can’t get one at all, and new online shoppers can’t just ‘push in’ ahead of those who have used the service for years (and will, presumably, be their core online customers when things go back to normal). When the ‘regulars’ slots are used up, they are released to everyone else, if there are any left.

There is a number you can call if you are vulnerable, so you can go on the priority list (which is good), but after that they are showing loyalty to the people who have shown loyalty to them, which is rare these days.

Forgot to say downside of Sainsbury’s is you’ll find them expensive if you usually shop with Asda, Lidl or Aldi.

I’m a regular delivery permit holder for Sainsbury’s and find similar to Bluesky.
I’ve had a once a week delivery for a year now and can still get them at that frequency. On bank holiday week I wasn’t fortunate enough to get a home delivery but could and did get a click & collect order (about a 1 MILE drive from home). If you have a car it could be you’ll get a click & collect easier (I can only speak with experience of Sainsbury’s, not the other supermarkets.

Sorry here’s the link. Forgot!!

Please take a look at Wellocks. This company delivered fresh food to the catering trade but has quickly adapted and is now delivering or doing click and collect for domestic customers.
If you live within 25 miles of one of their depots they will deliver.
A friend is using them and is thrilled with the quality and service.

We have only just received word that Morrison's and the Coop will do home deliveries for us in Argyll Scotland. However you must phone the Coop and tell them what you want or spend a minimum of £40's with Morrison's and order in advance of when you want it delivered. Not everything that's in the shop is on line and all the items seem to be the high margin stuff. We and our neighbours have decided to continue to shop ourselves. I really do miss travelling to Lidl and Asda. I'm afraid Morrison's will never get my money again when we get back to normality. Its so expensive.

EllanVannin Mon 27-Apr-20 09:41:10

I haven't even tried to get a slot from anyone. I'm impatient to a certain degree and would want a delivery same day or at least the next day and as for stuff missing or omitted I couldn't handle that either so I've found that nipping to the local shops has sufficed in order for me to physically see what I'm getting. It'll do for now anyway.

I'm so careful too as only 3 people are allowed in any shop at one time, 2 in some so virtually no contact. Gloves on and collar of jacket zipped up over mouth and nose at all times.

Thankfully/fortunately I'm not shielded or under any other drastic category, that I'm fully able to pick and choose my own wares-----many can't, I understand that.

merlotgran Mon 27-Apr-20 09:33:32

Our Sainsbury delivery man told me that you won't get more than one delivery a week - which is fair, I think. You are better off booking a slot for early in the week if you can because otherwise you mess up your chances of getting one the following week (if that makes sense)

He also said to start checking after midnight on a Friday night and keep checking Saturday morning because that's when they give out the slots for the over 70s.

FlexibleFriend Mon 27-Apr-20 09:27:57

We had a Tesco delivery yesterday booked the afternoon before.

tanith Mon 27-Apr-20 09:02:59

You just have to keep checking throughout the day and hope you’re lucky. I check at least 3/4 times a day I had a delivery last week but not found another so far.

BlueSky Mon 27-Apr-20 09:00:48

I'm a regular Sainsbury's customer and while before I could book in advance or the day before, now only a couple of slots are released the day before. Once I've booked there is nothing available again for that week, that is everything is greyed out. And you really need to keep checking because those few slots sell like hot cakes!

magsmay55 Mon 27-Apr-20 08:42:31

Hi everyone
Where have all the shopping slots gone they are getting harder to get not easier.
