Here is just dreich in Harrogate (cold and dull). Hope Dexter will be OK
Mandelson failed security vetting. Starmer says he didn’t know
Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dull tart this morning with rain here in Brackley , which looks set for the day.
My Day some early morning TV ,after breakfast , then some house work , maybe phone a friend later .
Otherwise , trying not to get to bored .
Mick
Here is just dreich in Harrogate (cold and dull). Hope Dexter will be OK
Good Morning from a dry, fairly bright Newcastle although it could probably rain later.
Just had a virtual Slimming World group meeting which motivates DH and I to keep on keeping on trying to loose weight.
Yesterday I had to do a big Tesco shop and felt quite apprehensive as I haven’t been near a supermarket for at least a month. In actual fact it all went smoothly - they were incredibly well organised and the staff were smiley and helpful. I really appreciate everything they are doing to keep us safe in-store. The only downside were the few customers who forgot to keep their distance but on the whole it was a very positive and reassuring experience.
Dragonfly fingers crossed for Dexter poor wee fella.
Gingster it sounds as if your DH has had excellent treatment from the NHS and continues to make good progress.
Marydoll what can I say - what a nasty piece of work your neighbour is. When all this is over and you and your fellow neighbours are “released” make sure you all make his life as miserable as he had made yours.
I hope everyone has the best possible day.
I wouldn't do that. We suspect he is a member of Her Majesty's Constabulary, we can't prove it, as he is so secretive and has never interacted with any neighbours, either that or he is on a witness protection programme!
.
There are all sorts of conspiracy theories going about. ?
He gives me the creeps!
That should do it Gabriella ?
I'd like to give that nosey neighbour a Glesga kiss. ?
Good morning all from a wet Glasgow. Pleased it rained overnight to soak the garden as the soil was bone dry and I can no longer dig/fork it over but I will manage with a trowel now.
A neighbour’s beautiful Maine Coon visited again this morning. It seems very friendly but shy.
Poor Dexter and poor you too Dragonfly with all the responsibility and upset in your hands.
Good luck for Sunday Urmstongran I would imagine it may feel quite strange being ‘set free’ but will help you feel more positive.
Your idiot neighbour has succeeded in his plan to upset you and others Marydoll however, he has done his worst now, no more he can do except feel smug at what he has achieved! Please don’t let him win and allow him to rule your life as he hopes. As you are shielding, continue having your family arriving with shopping and also chatting with your neighbours. Nothing you or they have done broke the guidelines ?to him and you must not allow this idiot to feel he has any control over the whole street. Stay strong, your day will come at some point. In the meantime, don’t allow this negativity into your head or home to upset you. Taking care of yourself and DH is your priority.
Although lockdown can be difficult, I feel it’s the least I can do to ease the pressure for our NHS by not giving them yet another patient to care for.
Have the best day you can everyone.
I hope the spray works for you Marydoll
I am a very sceptical person and was determined not to be affected ie: fall asleep, on the first occasion I used it.
Sadly, I remember waking up but not falling asleep.
I often tend to read or watch YouTube and iPlayer until the early hours but a small spritz stopped all that malarky. 15 mins and I'm out.
Do just spritz once on the side of the pillow you face towards as it's wasted in the middle where your head lies.
I first found it in the 2018 M&S Advent calendar box (still not finished the box contents)
???
Good morning from soggy Devon, I haven't been outside my front door this morning but everywhere is damp, not raining now but very grey, forecast is for some sun this afternoon not holding my breath
Back to painting my bedroom today, all ready to start except taking blind down. I'm slowly motivating myself but I'm also expecting Pharmacy delivery this morning
Marydoll I'll lend you my DD to deal with your neighbour
Wishing all well
Hi to all from a dismal Godalming ??
Rain has eased off although I got soaked during my run at 05.30. It always pumps me full of energy for the day ahead so, after my shower and before breakfast I properly cleaned all the glass tables and mirrors and inside windows then damp wiped the storage boxes under my bed (4)
Ate granola yogurt banana and raspberries for brekkie then had conversation with Thames Water about their c**p 'new' website and reducing my DD.
I did praise and thank the CS lady I spoke with as it's the suits who are utterly rubbish.
Put finishing touches to tomorrow's Sainsos delivery and now feel like eating a meal EllanVannin once described...mashed potato, crispy bacon and cabbage (with fat from bacon drizzled over the mash)
Why? I've no idea.
Ladies, we are beginning to see chinks of light, some small businesses have received their funding and Spain has started the trend. Oldies out from 9-2 and children from 4-9pm.
30 minutes for breakfast eaten in cafes and 90 mins for dinner. All this can be read in news (Mailonline)
Yippee!! I can hear Urmstongran dancing from here.
Keep safe, obey the rules and look forward to normality... or some semblance of it.
Best wishes for a better day to everyone ???????
Good morning from mid-Northumberland where the sun is shining in a broad blue sky. ?
Shocked to hear about your neighbour Marydoll. What on earth motivates people like that! He's going to feel a lot of cold shoulder once all of this is over. Makes me glad to live in rural isolation.
We all struggle don’t we in different ways? Yes, being shut up in this little apartment has been restrictive but I do have my lovely husband for company.
Others, in my opinion, have it harder. Those on their own, recently bereaved, would probably swap their more spacious homes and gardens in the blink of an eye for what I have.
BlueSapphire and Maw I’m thinking especially of you both. (and others too).
And Marydoll who is shielded. Now that must be REALLY hard and quite frightening when I give it some deeper thought. I rang a friend in Bristol at the weekend in the same situation - he had a transplant two years ago - and he admitted he is petrified of catching C-19.
And EV with all her worries about her grandchildren. And gillybob with hers.
That’s why I love this thread. We all CARE about one another.
It’s a good job we have Gabriella’s uplifting posts. They cheer me every morning. x
Good morning from cloudy Morecambe Bay. Our early morning walk wasn’t so early this morning, so am just back. It was trying to rain, but nowhere enough to close the enormous cracks which have appeared in our clay soil.
Off to pick up a click and collect order from Booths shortly. They have a list of about 150 sensible basic items to choose from and it’s available the next day. I just hope the car starts as it’s not been run since our last click and collect 3 weeks ago.
Wishing everyone with difficulties the very best - no names so as not to miss anyone. Take care and stay safe everyone.?
Good morning from the Shropshire borders. Its been raining all night and forecast to continue for the rest of the day so the water butts should be filled.
We have a delivery from the local deli this morning, basics and a few treats.
Really hope the animal hospital can help Dexter.Such a worry and responsibility for you dragonfly.
I agree with others Marydoll that you should carry on as you were doing, you were not breaking any rules and the bully shouldn’t be allowed to win?
In good news,Henry didn’t have any bad reactions yesterday so hopefully his new medicine is working.Paediatrician is phoning on Thursday so will probably have a plan to manage introducing new foods. All a bit scary but yesterday was a good day?
Cherry,hope you are ok.x
Sending good wishes to all for the best day possible.
Quite simple , Marydoll; do what a poster with a difficult neighbour on another thread is doing; wave and smile and shout hello every time you see him. Your daughters' activities are approved by the government and the police, so why are they bothered?
Good morning from a dry and bright NE.
I had a day in front of the TV again yesterday because it was too cool to be outside.
We have run out of bread so are eating crackers that we found in the back of a cupboard, so not quite starving yet.
I have seen rather a lot of pizza delivery men in the street but I don't think I will be resorting to that.
Take care everyone.
Morning everyone. Sun peeping through the clouds here in S of France.
Great afternoon yesterday, until received a text from the Town Hall @ 6pm, warning of heavy storms and possible flooding overnight! What next? Certainly never rains but it pours regarding life these days. Skies darkened and rushed dogs into garden before any drama. They will simply refuse to go out in thunder. 9pm sheet lightning, fork lightning and thunder then heavy rain, accompanied by the planet’s noisiest frog chorus. They so love a party and turned up their volume to compete with the storm, like they used to in the “good old days” when we would have friends visiting and we’d sit in the garden ....we’d laugh, they’d get louder. They are so funny like that - maybe they think we’re another frog species ????! It is only the males that shout (for the females) and so will calm down fairly soon. They’ve shown they don’t do social distancing, some were even on our windows....so had to stay there till this morning when the shutters were raised again. Storm all night but no flooding chez nous, thankfully.
Wondering when this really odd weather will settle down to sunshine every day again.
You talk of weather being so different maybe 3 or 4 miles away, kitty.....I once dashed outside to the back of our house to grab dry laundry off the line in a heavy shower. My DH continued cutting the grass at the front of the house in warm sunshine and where it never rained at all.
So glad for Mr G that he’s been reviewed and is back home with medication, Gingster. If warm wishes and shouts of ‘get well, little Dexter’ don’t work, it cannot be said we haven’t all tried, dragonfly. Sending you both and your shaggy house guest the very best of luck, as always.
Glad Mr ? seems to be doing well Gabriella - such a lucky boy will now live to fight another day, we hope. Just another few days now Urmston - you must be so excited. I really really would have struggled, I know. Well done, you.
Better, more solid murmurings from the UK Govt., I think. I was so worried that they’d feel pressured into just letting people do what they want. Mad to risk further sickness and loss now when we’ve endured shutting down our lives all this time. We’re waiting for news of the next stage today from our PM here. Whatever news it is, I think that ? masks are going to feature.
Anyone unwell, worried or sad, please feel better soon. Take care, stay safe and be kind to yourselves ...and each other. ?
Good morning from the Scottish Borders. Freezing here but still no rain. It may be that I am dressed for my online yoga class.
Please don't let that horrible neighbour get to you Marydoll Maybe you'd like to join our yoga class? Lots of breathing and gentle stretches.
I think everything is enhanced at present from the birdsong to the anger and odd behaviour. We (those of us secluded) all have more time to brood on things. Apologies for the amateur psychology.
I woke with a sore throat (oh no!) a toothache and a sore back.
Sorry for you Dragonfly and hope Dexter's eye can be saved.
I enjoyed the Grayson Perry programme and even suggested DH take up drawing.
Good morning from the NE coast where we have a relatively bright start to Tuesday........ but I can see the clouds rolling in from the sea .... (that sounded like words from a song)
Some terribly sad posts on the GM thread this morning .
Poor Dragonfly you must be so very worried about Dexter .
Gingster I suspected your DH had had a mild stroke or a TIA when you said his speech was slurred, as my DH had exactly the same symptoms initially . I’m sure his speech will get better in time . Wishing you both well .
Marydoll there is no way you should be letting this horrible pig of a man rule your life like this. Your DD,DDiL should have just done what they would have always done, parked as normal etc. I like Nfk’s idea but would maybe write a strongly worded note . You can’t let bullies like this get away with such bad behaviour and why should you let your health suffer because of him. I’m so
on you behalf.
I’m hoping that you are allowed out soon Urms I think you have served your sentence very well. A model prisoner
Thank you for the kind words Nfk I’m afraid that the government talk the talk but real help is very thin on the ground . There was an announcement of a loan scheme yesterday 100% guaranteed by the government but I can’t find any information on it anywhere . If it has to go through the banks no one will get it as they do not answer their telephone, never ring back when they promise too and their on line help is at least 6 days behind .
Well I hope everyone has as good a day as is possible today. My DD FaceTimed me at 8am to show my little Evie’s “just got out of bed hair” which was so funny. It’s her birthday on Thursday , she’s 2 and it will break my heart not seeing her.
Love to all
Gillybob xx
Good morning from a dull and grey mid-Notts - fine atm but we did have rain during the night and it looks very much like we might have more sooner rather than later. Marydoll you are in an intolerable situation - especially as everyone else gets along swimmingly. Why is it some people feel the need to behave like this? Dragonfly I hope the dear doggy will be ok - fingers crossed for you. DOH has a training call this morning on mindfulness and I'm going to join in as he thinks it will benefit me and he could well be right. So hopefully I will be calmed and chilled for the rest of the day!! Stay safe everyone and may Tuesday be kind to us all x
Good morning everyone from East London. Most needed rain here , the garden was desperate, I topped up the pond yesterday from the water butt so hope the rain will refill it .
I have a gaggle of goldfinches visit the pond daily for a wash and brush up . Such a delight to watch . A large crow is also a regular visitor and it spends ages rummaging around with it’s beak , I’m sure it’s looking for insects or other tasty morsels, no tadpoles sadly this year . Didn’t walk yesterday and I am really so stiff , so off for a tramp in the rain later. I’m finding this isolating so hard -thinking of everyone “doing it alone “ too .
Morning all from grey skies in Norwich and it’s RAINING at long last! How long it will last I don’t know but I can hear it!! Only problem is that the blossom is blowing off the flowering cherry and crab apple tree and sticking to the windows! But I can cope with that!!All water butts are empty so precipitation is much appreciated!
Lovely surprise from DGS no.1, a parcel from A....n was sitting on door step ! It was 2 books, one for me and one for hub. Sent with his love to “help us keep sane in these difficult days” . A very thoughtful and kind grandson, just want to see him soon and give him a hug!! That proves difficult as he is 6’7” and I am 5’2” (almost)!
Keep your selves safe gransnetters and don’t be tempted to be complacent!!!
Good morning Mick and all his followers. Suffolk has had some rain during the night and more is due shortly. We really do need some in this dry corner of England. I hope it will soften the soil and make it easier to dig the last vegetable bed. We did half yesterday but it was very hard work. I’m very stiff this morning. Looking forward to a day of housework for a rest!
Our nearest shop is at the local nursery/garden centre and it has a great butcher, deli, vegetables etc. I hear that they now let you into the nursery if you have shopped. I shall go this morning for fresh veg, steaks for my birthday on Sunday ( I can freeze them) and garden goodies too. Very excited as I have only been shopping once in 6 weeks!
Hope the day is kind to you all.
Morning All
There is a slight dampness in the air here, but the rain hasn’t really reached us yet. Hopefully it will eventually we’ve hardly had a drop this month and the ground is like sand.
Marydoll, would your DH go over to Horrible Neighbour and explain that you’re Shielding and now running out of food and ask if it’s ok with him if your DD and DiL deliver some without the police needing to be informed. Or would the sarcasm be lost?!
Cornergran, can you speak to your neighbour’s doctor? Explain the situation? Perhaps the doctor could ring and have a chat with her. Unusual times call for a bit of leeway with the rules.
Hope Gilly gets a wonderful email from the government today offering loads of help and money! There seems to be a big chasm in the communication chain between the politicians in government and the managers on the ground and their ability to do whats asked.
Fingers crossed for Dexter too.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
