Cherry glad you are not in as much pain today, hope you are still taking it easy.x
Purplepixie, glad you too are feeling better and dragonfly glad that Dexter is finally doing well. What a relief for you.

Well we are back from our jaunt and managed not to get arrested corner! We drove to Stafford to see our younger daughter and littleB.son in law was at work so we missed seeing him.We had a socially distanced picnic in the garden and then had a walk to feed the ducks. It was so lovely to see them.B didn’t quite understand social distancing,he slipped his little hand in ours and tried so hard to get papa to pick him up,standing on his tiptoes and holding his arms up.
Luckily we had Easter eggs and gifts for him which we put on the garden table so he was soon happy again.

We are just waiting for Wales to enter the next phase of lockdown so we can visit DD1 and family.

Hoping everyone has had a good day.Thinking of you all.

Nannytopsy Thu 14-May-20 15:04:37

Dragonfly I am delighted to hear the good news about Dexter! All that worry you had with him. Charlie cat proved he is now a real country cat by getting a tick in his ear. He has such long fur, I don’t think they can reach his skin elsewhere.
Awake in the wee small hours again, so I have just had a doze and now I shall head out into the garden.
Keep up the good work everyone!

dragonfly46 Thu 14-May-20 14:33:24

Hallo every one, there has been so much going on while I have been away I cannot mention you all but do hope those in pain feel better soon.
Love the pictures soop and Teddy does indeed look like you.

It was my DGD's 5th birthday yesterday. It was a real treat watching her open her presents on Facetime. She was so thrilled to be 5! Those were the days!!

At the risk of boring you all Dexter has been a real worry recently but today was signed off by the vet hospital. His ulcer is healing nicely although will take another 6 to 8 weeks. He will not lose his sight and he has no pain. The collar needs to be on for another few days but it doesn't seem to bother him.

soop Thu 14-May-20 13:41:56

CherryC I'm far from convinced. (hugs)

CherryCezzy Thu 14-May-20 13:39:57

Good to hear you have recovered Purplepixie. I suffered with acid reflux for a long time but am on medication for it now and it is usually very effective.

soop, thanks you your very kind concern. I'm not in half as much pain as yesterday so I don't think it is a serious injury. The pain I was in yesterday did worry me but I've injured myself so many times I get on with it. I know what my GP, with his very glib way of putting things would say - it goes with the territory. I'll be alright ?.

soop Thu 14-May-20 13:05:11

Sunny early afternoon greetings to all our dear kitcheners.

Purplepixie Thank goodness the horrible heartburn has ceased to pain you. I used to have so many episodes of the same. Was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia. Meds keep the acid under control. Take care.

Doodle Teddy has had his hair trimmed (thanks to Mummy).
We had two phone calls from villagers today - asking how we're keeping. Such kindnesses are heart warming. I cannot think how wonderful it will be to spend time in the company of those we love - when the time is right.

corner You have succeeded in decorating and clearing cupboards. Well done.
I'm also relieved to hear that your friend has been discharged from hospital. He will need to have plenty of rest in order to fully recover.

CherryC Please will you contact your GP to discuss the amount of pain that you are dealing with. If you've sustained an injury requiring special treatment, you could be making things very much worse. flowers

GrannyGravy I cannot claim to ever be fully up to date with the happenings of this lovely lot. smile

Purplepixie Thu 14-May-20 09:55:44

Good morning all in this beautiful warm kitchen.

Soop - Teddy is adorable and needs loads of cuddles. Thank you for the wonderful photos of the sunsets.

The heartburn has thankfully gone and thank you to all who sent good wishes. I think I just ate too much rich food washed down with the wine and the hot toddies. Hot chocolate for me before bed. Maybe.........

Take care all my lovely friends on this wonderful site and have the best day that you can and stay safe. X

Doodle Wed 13-May-20 21:51:12

nannytopsy a delivery. Yeah! Strange the things we get excited about these days isn’t it ?
purplepixie I hope your friends son is ok. Have you tried Rennies for your heartburn. We have it sometimes and it often helps.
soop lovely little Teddy, and such nicely groomed hair ?
Sodabread sounds nice grandmafrench I’m always available for tastings ?
susan I am much cheered to hear that little Henry has a new GP who seems to be on the ball. Hope he gets all the right treatment from now on.
panache don’t go getting a chill on your walks, but it is nice to get outside for a bit though isn’t it?
cornergran Hope you enjoy your drive out tomorrow. Love the sea. ?
TOYA?

CherryCezzy Wed 13-May-20 20:07:53

Hello kitcheners. I tried to post yesterday but the internet wouldn't let me, nothing wrong with connection but obviously the "box". The "^engineer^" is booked to come on Monday so ?.

soop Teddy has fabulous eyes and I also think there's a resemblance to you, even though I haven't met you IRL.

I hope your heartburn has eased Purplepixie.

Well done for being ruthless cornergran, something I'm not very good at and my WP is even worse ?.

It seems to be a one step forward and a one step back with little Henry Susan. Sounds like the new GP is good though and being diligent, very reassuring. You know I, and all the Kitcheners, are wishing all the best for him x

I've not had the best couple of days, obviously delayed effects from falling out of bed two nights in a row. I woke up with back pain yesterday, which worsened as the day went on. I dosed myself up with painkillers to sleep and slept well but woke up this morning in worse pain, back, left hip and right knee. When I first got up I "didn't know where to put myself", there was just no comfortable position except standing. I dosed up on painkillers again and this evening, whilst not gone away, the pain has eased considerably ?. I've obviously got some kind of injury but I'm not sure whether it's the very top of my leg/hip area or my lower back. I've torn discs in the past and it doesn't feel like that, thank goodness so hopefully it's just bruised muscle. I had plans to go white water rafting ? but can't do that for the foreseeable ?

I've spent the day doing b....r all except lounge on the sofa ?. Oh well, tomorrow's another day and you never know I might do the same again...?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 13-May-20 17:57:24

Lots to catch up on, I will endeavour to do so later.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

cornergran Wed 13-May-20 17:42:31

The in house painter has finished for the day and miraculously thr contents of the many cupboards have been ruthlessly sorted. Phew.

We’re taking the short drive to the sea front early in the morning to widen our walking horizons. Once home and recovered it will be yesterday in reverse putting the units and contents back. Another couple of hours painting and we’re done. I hope grin.

Our friend who was hospitalised with covid has been discharged home today. Tired, needing to rest but home. We’re delighted for him.

Henry is having the best of care susan, very reassuring, enjoy your trip out tomorrow, please try not to be arrested smile.

Off to sort yet more food now so apologies for missing people. Stay safe everyone.

soop Wed 13-May-20 17:26:41

Susan Little Henry is never too far from my thoughts. The new GP sounds very supportive. We all want Henry to be well and free from these worrying setbacks.

Dreamkeeper Bless you for continuing to join us lot for a wee blether.

Three hours of hard graft in the garden. As per, I'm looking like a scarecrow complete with twigs caught in my hair. I shall away to wash and the rest.

Looking forward to sitting down with a cup of tea.

Until we all meet again tomorrow...please continue to take great care of yourselves. smile moon

Susan56 Wed 13-May-20 16:34:58

Lovely pictures of Teddy, soop???I agree with GrandmaFrench,he is definitely your mini me.

Call girl, glad you are starting to feel better and Purplepixie hope your heartburn has eased as the day has gone on.

Grandma French, sorry your first outing was ruined by inconsiderate people?

We have finally finished the decorating and the garden is looking good too.We need a couple of weeks to rest now ready for when we can see the family again.

Henry had a set back yesterday but has had a better day today.
In a positive, the new GP is being very supportive, she has been phoning DD to check how they are and has been speaking to the consultants about proposed treatment.

We are going out tomorrow for the first time in eight weeks?Where we live right on the Welsh border but in England,we have to drive through Wales to go anywhere, the route we will take tomorrow we will be in Wales for about half a mile so hopefully won’t get stopped?

TOYA

Dreamkeeper Wed 13-May-20 14:11:05

I too am wearing a big smile so thank you for that Grandmafrench
Whilst hearing you have rain reminds me of the fact it has been unseen here in the west of Wales since way back,in fact only saying the other day that soon the next announcement will be we are suffering a drought!!
This week true enough the weather has been rather chilly with a distinct wind that chills one`s bones yet the skies remain azure blue, cloudless and there is a lot of sunshine.
We do miss the earlier warmer weather though and the changing from warmer clothes almost into summer gear has been hastily changed back to warmer wear.

Whatever the weather though that corking picture of your young Teddy Soop has raised the temperature in this establishment, whilst your sunset pictures always has me drooling awhile.

You certainly brought a smile too Nannytopsy on hearing of the few things that truly amuse you these days!! We shall be looking back on these months wondering why so little gave us that much satisfaction.Lessons to be learnt I guess.

Hoping your health is again improving Callgirl and that soon you will be feeling more your former self.Sometimes it does not take all that much to knock us of our pedestal.......and you have had a lot to contend with.No man is an island after all.

Heartburn can indeed make your day feel rotten Purplepixie so I hope it is short lived.Loving your "name" and as purple is my favourite colour (and very much evident in our colour scheme in this flat!) I have a mental picture of this dear elfin fairy like figure, dressed of course in a purple outfit!!!

Not much on my agenda, even our short morning stroll was just that......short..because of that nippy breeze going through our bones. No fat on either of us so we feel every spot of fresh air!!!
Anyway enjoy your afternoon and simply keep safe.

soop Wed 13-May-20 13:32:48

Your message has made me smile, Grandmafrench.

soop Wed 13-May-20 13:31:06

Daisyboots I'm also hoping that you felt well enough to celebrate your anniversary. A good night's sleep would help. I know how rough having a series of disturbed nights can sap you of your energy and inner spirit. sunshine

The sun is shining. I am about to spend an afternoon gardening. The chilly breeze off the sea dictates that I shall need to wear several layers.

Grandmafrench Wed 13-May-20 13:28:48

Well, I could definitely give a massive squeeze to that edible little soul ! He's even better than marzipan, pistachio ice cream and chocolate !!!!

Thank you soop. A minder in the Garden Centre would have been nice - preferably someone with a long 2m plus, pointy stick to jab any stupid people with. I decided today I'm not looking forward to the "new normal" (hate that phrase) as I should be. Maybe I need to stay in a while longer and wait for the pills to work grin.

It's raining again. What on earth is going on with our weather? I do hope that lovely weather still abounds in all Northern parts? If those skies are anything to go by, the climate really looks like it has taken a turn for the better.....or maybe it's just over the Kitchen. I can understand that, of course.

I'm about to make some Soda bread, some will be left for any hungry ladies when they arrive in the Kitchen today. We now have yeast and flour and almost everything. The new must-have/can't find is olive oil, but that's due to the higher costs caused by sickly trees in Italy, I think. Pasta is getting scarce, but I reckon if Jamie Oliver can throw together some fresh pasta within minutes and without a pasta maker, I should be able to do the same. Watch this space.

Hope everyone is in good spirits and painful problems are being kept in control. Being sad or anxious is one thing - being in pain as well. Well, normal buggerations don't even come close.

Keep taking care (and stay upright, please) lovely people. x

soop Wed 13-May-20 13:22:46

Nannytopsy It doesn't take too much to put a smile on our faces. Simple pleasures are priceless right now.

soop Wed 13-May-20 12:27:41

Madgran I'm pleased that you've returned to the kitchen. Are you beginning to recover from whatever troubled you?

Purplepixie It must be an awful shock when a member of one's family is diagnosed with Covid19. It's difficult to imagine how many thousands of people have had to deal with what your friend is feeling. We see numbers but tend to forget that each one represents an individual with a network of family and friends who care and worry.

soop Wed 13-May-20 12:16:06

Grandmafrench Had I been with you when that inconsiderate person invaded personal space - I'd have slapped her for you. I rarely lose my cooel. But...

Another photo of Teddy was emailed to us just an hour ago...

soop Wed 13-May-20 12:10:26

callgirl1 Last night's sky ... it was a stunner.

Purplepixie Wed 13-May-20 10:29:18

Hi all in this lovely warm kitchen.

DH has gone to the shops and I feel a lot better today but still have wicked heartburn. Not sure what to have for tea tonight so I’ll pop back later with some supplies.

I just spoke to a friend on the phone and her nephew, who works at a hospital has just been diagnosed with the virus. He is young (26) and a big strapping lad so I hope he is going to be ok. It is such a worry.

Take care and have the best day that you can. X

Nannytopsy Wed 13-May-20 00:00:27

Sharing good news!
I got a click and collect slot for next week!
We have finished sorting the cupboards!!
Tomorrow we shall see GDC over the fence when we collect our shopping ?
My cup overfloweth.
I hope everyone has something to celebrate tomorrow. X
