Gracious ann I would avoid all that if I were you. We know you better.
Is it rude to not finish a book club choice that was selected by someone else?
The King's Speech To Announce 'All But The End Of Leasehold System' System'
Here we are again...all good pals and jolly good company.
WELCOME. Enjoy the treats on offer. All food virtually calorie-free. No washing of dishes permitted. Please relax and we'll raise a glass of cheer to each other.
Cheers!
Gracious ann I would avoid all that if I were you. We know you better.
I wish I could ignore the situation I seem inadvertently to have created.
It is blowing up out of all proportion.
To appeal to all GN members to agree that I am in the wrong is a step too far and to suggest I put my Husband on a pedestal is so insulting I cannot deal with it.
Sorry to bring this to the kitchen, a haven for me in recent times, I do not want to respond on the thread, it will just bring me more criticism.
Purplepixies Wine and hot teddies...yum!
izabella how lovely to have you back again. You are so skilled at painting a picture with words. Your evening meal and time under the stars sounds wonderful.
I’m with the other ann take no notice. You are missed and wanted in the kitchen
We attended our first online funeral today. Despite being very few in physical attendance we still found it a very touching and thoughtful service.
So much going on in the kitchen. TOYA ?
Just arrived with the wine and hot toddies, come on, help yourselves! Then a VERY good night to you all.
Love to all xxxx
Looks as if I'll have to work on my temptress skills soop as you had enough will power to turn away from the scones, jam and clotted cream.
The video sounds wonderful Cherry; what better way to spend the afternoon. Don't worry, in the unlikely event that the men in white coats do come to take you away, we'll sort them out, no worries
.
Reading about your pool has made me a little jealous Grandmafrench and reminds me of our villa in Florida that we sold 3 years ago. I know it was the right decision but there are times when I really miss it
.
How lovely Nannytopsy
Now where's Purplepixie with those hot toddies, or am I too early
Confession time - we came home the other way from Tesco, parked on DS drive and said hello to DGC! We did stay apart but it was a treat.
Is that a Periwinkle, Soop? I brought some with me from Normandy. Such a lovely colour. You have definitely got it in for those corms....but I'm glad that you've stopped before digging yourself to a standstill.
Must ask how the hand injury is healing on MacS? Do hope he is being careful with it.
Yours skies! Wow...they must change almost every minute. Absolutely breathtaking. If I had your view, I would spend my entire time oohing and aaahing and taking photos.
I shall be off to switch on the sprinklers in a minute. It's been a very hot day here. So much so that the air conditioning is on. DH has emptied the pool and it will now be jet washed and re-filled so that once it has warmed up, we can use it for some exercise (and a lot of larking about on lilos!!) I shall feed my plants after supper and once the Jasmine is fully out, I shall post you all a photo, although you really need the smell as well.
So lovely to hear all the Kitcheners burbling on here, and not waiting for any discord - or fights!
I had a very difficult phone call with a friend who is having a mini breakdown over her health and not being able to get appointments etc., in the UK. Then I read the posts of Panache and Isabella - all of this made me cry. Of course that wasn't the idea of their posts. Then I pulled myself together and made some bread.
Glad to hear that Mr Sar is somewhat better. Hope that continues or he won't get off lightly once we're on the case.
Granny Gravy Wow! "a walk after 51 days" Weren't you lucky that your legs worked. Did that little baby have a surprised look at all?
NannyT I'm told that the UK is looking so pretty at the moment. Lovely to be able to get out and see it all.
Cherry you are hilarious. You tell us that you could be as mad as a box of frogs and then spoil it all by saying that we couldn't get you sectioned?? Where's the fun in that? Joking apart, that's quite some thing to be able to relate. By the way, do hope that you are now feeling a lot better and less tired.
Best wishes to you all from France. x
Not my - by!
Grandmafrench, I know the song you mean, circa 1966 - Napoleon xiv. The lyrics you quoted became a stock phrase of a woman I knew when I was younger ?.
I'm fortunate ?, the men in white coats can't take me away! I'm one of a few people that can't be sectioned under the Mental Health Act ?. I escape that by the dint of the fact that my brain is ? ? ?. I was astonished when I was told that my the medical profession! I could be as mad as a box of frogs but ... my cell can't be padded ?. Shame in some respects atm as lockdown can drive a girl crazy sometimes ?.
Before anybody thinks that I am ridiculing anyone with mental health issues I know I wouldn't dream of doing so. My first career was as a mental health nurse.
TOYA ?
Hello everyone! It is cooling into a beautiful evening here with another cloudless sky, filled with screaming swifts, the occasional swallow and since this morning, house martins. We do our shopping by click and collect, as my husband has some health issues and we get one every 10 days or so ( by staying up after midnight!) Today was the day and I couldn’t believe the change in the trees and hedgerows. The may and horse chestnuts are in full flower, the fields are greening up and people’s garden are filling out. It feels as if Spring has happened overnight!
Best wishes to you all.
Oooh soop I do watercolour painting as well!
annsixty don't worry about blotting your copy book! The world won't end because you dropped the ink!! Just come and join in in our kitchen instead!
Well I have been brave today, I have been outside for a walk after 51 days of lockdown the weather is glorious added bonus I took baby GC out with me in his pram.
It felt odd at first, but once I got going it was fabulous ?♀️
What have you been up to ann? I rarely stir out of the kitchen now so have no idea. Can only echo others, don’t dwell on negatives and let them get you down. Enough going on in the world. A hug coming your way.
Smileless You, my dear, are a temptress. I am so relieved that I cannot accept your kind invitation to scoff nibble on scones with clotted cream and jam. I would never be a fairly plump-ish elderly lady again. In fact, what with all that you lot bake and invite me to share, I would be permanatly wedged/lodged fast in my favourite chair. As it is, my elasticated waisted trousers are a tad too cosy fitting.
Sar As you will note, CherryC has joined the band of volunteers to call in on your stubborn dear husband. We can be tough. It all depends on whether or not he heeds your advice. Don't put us to the test.
Purplepixie It has been yet another fabulous day. The sky is cloudless. There is a possibility of another wonderful sunset. Camera at the ready.
I have filled a second bucket with corms that I've spent the afternoon digging out of the garden. I shall not be able to eradicate all that remain. I will have to accept that nature has beaten me. I shall thin the clumps out as much as I'm able. I'm filling the gaps with rocks and shingle.
I hope to join you all again tomorrow. You all matter. Please take great care of yourselves.

Thank you Soop for the fabulous photos especially the skies and the sunsets. All are more than welcome for tea. Enjoy the hot toddies and wine later. Love to all my lovely friends here.
Hello kitcheners, what a give of wonderful activity it is here ?
Don't, as a friend used to say to me, let the simple b......ds get you down annsixty. They're the ones with a problem, not you! Take up an easy chair, relax here with a ☕
Lovely to have you with us again Izabella. Glad your prolonged brain fog has lifted. We all missed you and your lyrical posts.
That's why I can't get the flour then Pixiepurple, I can't physically go to a supermarket to get it. I love cheese and potato pie. We're having a cheese omelette, new potatoes and salad for dinner this evening. It's such a lovely day here for a big mixed salad.
Good to know your DH is improving Sar. If it happens again though you can tell him that he'll have all the Kitcheners marching toward your home big sticks in hand!
Apart from sitting in the garden soaking up this beautiful May day watching the birds going about their business I've been watching the new video my neice1 sent me. It's a video of my youngest, 2 year old, great nephew ( my nephew1's son) playing his father's drums. It's a wonderful video, he is smiling and laughing and it has to be said is really rather good ?. Obviously takes after his dad!
Good afternoon ladies.
No charge for my PA services Dreamkeeper
Hmmm that banana bread was delicious N&G
I'm with MawB annsixty don't take any notice
That's good news about your husband Sar
you'll have to tell him if it happens again he'll have all the kitcheners on his back until he contacts his GP.
A beautiful day here again and I'm leaving some fruit scones, jam and clotted cream for you all to enjoy with your afternoon
.
Thank you, Sar, now that I've read your most recent post, I am feeling less concerned than I did yesterday. However, please tell your stubborn dear husband that us lot are not totally happy. Would he like a few of us to visit and give him a thorough check up? I think not.
Good afternoon to you all. Izabella your posts are wonderful, so poetic and descriptive.
panache as was I was so pleased to see you posting again, very best wishes to you and your husband.
My DH is feeling better today, he can use his arm but probably another day before it is fully better. As I've said before this has happened before but in different limbs. Ive told him that if it happens again he must talk to a doctor. Why are men so stubborn ??.
We did go for a short walk this morning and the sea was a bit rough but good to be out in the sunshine.
Take care everyone and stay safe xx
ann Sit yourself down, take a deep breath, have a
and a
and relax.
xxx
Take no notice Annsixty (I know, easier said than done)
And this from someone who can’t keep out of trouble!

But some humour can be just that bit too close to home can’t it?
I have totally blotted my copybook on another thread.
I have been castigated and told how wrong I was.
I will leave it all for now.
TOYA
A huge virtual hug and welcome back to our very own poetess - Izabella. I'm also wondering where our annsixty is hiding away. Wherever you be, ann and callgirl1,haste thee into the kitchen please.
anno snap! I looked through the window and saw a perfect blue wild flowers in a sea of green leaves. I shall photograph it for you later.
Purplepixe Would you have room for an extra virtual guest at your table tonight? I fancy sharing your meal.
Sar53, I together with many others remain extremely concerned for your husband. PLEASE update us when he either sees the GP or makes a miraculous recovery and starts doing the highland fling or the likes.
Madgran You find solace in baking. I find it gardening (or watercolour painting). We all do what we can to maintain a sense of equalibrium. I just fancied using that particular word
Here is last night's sky. A joy to behold.
