Gorgeous little boy is Henry!

Grandmafrench Wed 03-Jun-20 21:21:36

Oh my, susan, isn't little Henry changing so fast! He looks happy in the photo, though. Do you think the Dietician is in a different time zone/on a different planet maybe? It's taking so long, maybe they're hoping that Henry's problem might resolve itself before they bother to do anything positive. That'll reduce the waiting lists, won't it? Given how much little H and his Mum is owed after the monumental mistakes, they really are sailing close to the wind. Well, they've certainly got more nerve than me....I wouldn't like to face you both !!

You really are so funny Doodle - I suppose our dogs are a bit spoilt, but we don't get their leftovers (I can hear them saying "we wish!"). Since they are on a special diet, our Vet doesn't allow them much meat, so they normally have chicken or lamb in small amounts; with loads of vegetables and rice or pasta and some special vitamin oil which everyone uses here in France. We do get our fair share if our meals coincide !
Like most dogs, they would eat anything that was in front of them (so we need to keep on the move!) but they don't get the chance.

Thank you, the itches are receding - maybe insects don't like rain so much. It's been raining here all evening but, apart from occasionally bad t.v. reception, no thunder or lightning - or hail.......yet!

Susan56 Wed 03-Jun-20 19:55:55

Doodle,Henry is doing ok at the moment thank you albeit on a very limited diet. They are still waiting to hear from the new dietician ?My daughter is coping with the situation now, still has wobbles but on the whole they are much better.

Doodle Wed 03-Jun-20 19:34:29

Wow so many people on the kitchen thread now. Where to start ?
grandmafrench hope the itching is less now. Glad the little monsters cause no serious harm. I hope the storm isn’t too bad and nothing gets damaged. I laughed at the fact you cook chicken for your dogs and you and DH have the leftovers. I used to do the same for my dogs ?
susan good news about your neighbour indeed. Hope little Henry is ok,
purplepixie have a virtual hug from me. ? sorry you are a bit low. We are all going through periods of this I think. Hope you feel better soon.
ann sorry you are in such pain. It sounds really bad. It’s a shame they can’t get you in soon. Others have suggested contacting your GP. It may well be worth trying. Good job your DGD is there to help out.
dragonfly a comfortable bra. That is cause to celebrate ?
soop glad McSporran got on well with the consultant. What handsome sons you have. ?
Hope everyone else is keeping well
TOYA?

Corner I had to read it twice- a fish cake sandwich- yuck! My heart goes out to Mr.C if that is his supper. He may prefer to share mine- a selection of prepared salads from an upmarket supermarket. I have had my eye treated so cannot safely cook this evening.

soop two handsome young men!

dragonfly-at kast comfort. Itis the simple things in life which please us the most I think.

ann a very difficult time for you- please try to keep your spirits up- I know how difficult it is when you can barely move.
TOYA

Hello All, just popping in to say Hi really. Haven't been able to catch up on all your posts as I am so busy sewing NHS Scrub outfits...but wishing you all well. Hope you have been enjoying the sunshine and maybe even the rain today that cooled things down a bit. My garden certainly enjoyed it.

No cooking for me today. But my husband did bring home some lovely cherries from the local greengrocers so a veritable healthy feast awaits anyway! smile x

Susan56 Wed 03-Jun-20 18:19:13

I haven’t cut my hair corner but my husband has become an expert in applying the spray to cover my roots?

cornergran Wed 03-Jun-20 18:05:43

Afternoon All. A seriously lazy day here today listening to the rain on the conservatory roof. Done, well, nothing of any consequence. Cooked a meal for Mr C, didn’t fancy ‘proper food’ so a very enjoyable fish cake sandwich for me. Would have been fish fingers had the freezer held any grin.

I’m pleased macs had his telephone consultation soop, a good relationship with a consultant is worth so much. Two very distinguished sons for sure.

Hang on in there ann. I do know how debilitatng constant pain is. Keep reminding the hospital staff you are there and waiting, surely you should be at the front of the queue. Your granddaughter certainly arrived with you at the right time.

Hooray for you dragonfly. You’re right, comfortable undies are essential. Hope tree-gate has settled.

Hope the storm isn’t as fierce as anticipated grandmafrench, not my favourite things.

Hello puzzler, welcome.

My hairdresser has also been in touch susan. I’ve opted for an appointment once she’s been open for a month. I’ve been trimming my short hair and it seemed a good idea to let it grow a bit before presenting her with thr challenge that it will be grin

TOYA and take care everyone.

Annsixty Yet more sound advice from GrannySomerset. Power to you. It is what you deserve. So, speak up and know that us lot are here to continue to encourage you. It's high time that you had positive feedback.

Oh, Susan, that was so thoughtful of your hairdresser.

Grandmafrench Your posts are a joy. And, yes please to the cold chicken, baby toms, buttery beans and huge dollops of mayo. A veritable feast.

Phone call lasted some time. It was with my bearded son. A very happy interlude that cheered me greatly.

My love to every one of you. We'll meet again tomorrow. In the meantime, take good care of yourselves.

smile moon

GrannySomerset Wed 03-Jun-20 17:50:56

Annsixty - Grandmafrench gives excellent advice and I suggest you abandon the behaviour of a lifetime and put your own needs first and foremost. Certainly worth booking a telephone chat with your preferred GP and asking for a letter to the consultant stressing how urgently you need this surgery and pointing out that the longer it is left, the longer your recovery will be with all that that implies. And I would obtain the telephone number and e-mail of the consultant’s secretary and ring her/email her weekly so that any cancellation is offered to you. Good luck - nobody deserves it more.

Susan56 Wed 03-Jun-20 17:36:35

While I was writing my post,I had a message from my hairdresser??????I said to my husband, guess who has messaged me and he guessed first time?No sign of her opening until July but was lovely to hear from her??‍♀️

Susan56 Wed 03-Jun-20 17:34:00

Glad the consultation was positive soop???

Your ‘boys’ are very handsome.I can definitely see the family resemblance.

Love the photo of the ferry, would love to be looking at the sea but we are just too far away for a visit at the moment.

We went to post some letters in town last week and ended up going the very long way home.It was lovely to be out and about in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. We felt like we had been on a mini break when we got home!

Ann, I hope you hear soon about your hip replacement operation. It seems like things are starting to get going again so hopefully won’t be too long before you hear something.

Thinking of you all.

Grandmafrench Wed 03-Jun-20 17:09:50

Lovely looking men, soop. The one with the beard looks so like you around the eyes. Good to see photos of happy days - but they'll come again. Sounds like you have been very active getting hospital advice/consultations. Hoping that yours comes soon and that MacS's continuing treatment resumes and goes really well.

Be nice to think that annsixty soon joins the happy band of hospital "naggers" and succeeds in getting something fixed up to get her life back very soon !

Sorry about all the itching/scratching. I assume you are all very suggestible ? grin Things are calming down and I found a tube of Eurax which I bought in England last year. Has worked like a charm......so far. Death to all little bitey creatures!

Hope everyone is feeling reasonably cheery today. We've lost our sunshine and just received a text from the Town Hall informing us that a storm's a'coming !!!!! So, we've scooted around the garden, moving plants, covering furniture, retrieving cushions, checking car windows etc., We may even have hail, imagine that. Well, I can, because in 1976 - the year of the big heat in the UK, we moved house on the 2nd June and it snowed hard. By the time we arrived on the other side of Herts, it had settled. We didn't know whether to laugh or not. We had 2 weeks to get straight and then the hottest summer imaginable. Talk about weird weather.

Have just cooked a chicken for the dogs - there will be plenty of cold cuts for us and for the Kitchen. Maybe a big dollop of mayo and some tiny tomatoes and buttery cold beans?

Have a good evening all. Hugs from me to you all x

Puzzler61 Wed 03-Jun-20 16:30:40

Thank you soop ?

soop Wed 03-Jun-20 16:27:23

Welcome to Puzzler61. It's always a treat to meet new Granspals. flowers

These are brothers whose Dad died recently. Taken at middle son's daughter wedding in Amsterdam. A wonderful day in every way.

Puzzler61 Wed 03-Jun-20 16:23:42

What a stunning photo !

soop Wed 03-Jun-20 16:12:47

Thank you, Lins. Have taken a photo of the ferry en route to Islay. Sunshine and white-capped waves.

soop Wed 03-Jun-20 16:09:48

Doodle dragonfly Susan - Thank you, the consultation was positive. It's a three monthly event, usually in Oban hospital. Funny that it's the small outings we miss. The coffee and cake in the hospital cafe. The pleasant albeit tiring drive. Dropping into the supermarket and bringing something tasty home for supper. Just being free to behave in a normal fashion.

A tad cabin-feverish today. I've cleaned all the kitchen cupboards and am awaiting a phone call with middle son. Greatly looking forward to it.

Lins1066 Wed 03-Jun-20 16:07:31

Yes hope the consultation went well soop

Susan56 Wed 03-Jun-20 15:40:29

Good news soop, hope MacS’s consultation went well

dragonfly46 Wed 03-Jun-20 15:01:39

That’s great soop

Doodle Wed 03-Jun-20 14:42:03

Hope all goes well soop

soop Wed 03-Jun-20 13:41:45

The oncologist is on the phone as I type. MacS and she get along famously. I'm pleased for him.

soop Wed 03-Jun-20 13:38:45

dragonfly Woohoo! I know the feeling well. Yet nothing beats removing the bra in the evening. Bliss!

dragonfly46 Wed 03-Jun-20 13:23:37

Gosh that is a nuisance for MacSporran. I have an appointment on the 22nd so hoping it goes ahead as I have things to ask him.

So sorry you are not getting about Ann I really hope you are first on their list to get your hip done. There is nothing more debilitating than being in pain constantly.

I have to share my good news. It is nothing amazing just that I have finally found a comfortable bra. After my mastectomy I must have bought 20 bras and none of them felt right. I have finally found one that feels good - whoohoo!!
