Johnson said he was doing his broadcast on Sunday evening so that people would know what to expect on Monday.
In the speech, he didn't say if he meant Wednesday to go back to work, so it was no wonder people thought they had to get there on Monday.

No-one will be getting paid to stay at home, if it is safe to go back to work.

Heard a lady today saying that she was quite happy being paid to stay at home and hopes it goes on for as long as possible. She didn’t look like an MP but who knows?

The trouble is, MPs are in danger of becoming addicted to their WFH payments and won't want to go back to a proper day's work!

Johnson is the crazeee teacher of course! Rees Mogg is the nasty, sneery teacher who’s never quite got over the fact he can no longer belt 8 year olds.

if mps need to work from home to avoid spreading the virus, then children should not be allowed back to class either. Lead by example

MPs should work from home, grannypiper because it is safer for everyone if they do. As it is safer for everyone if as many people as possible stay at home.

The decision to reopen schools in June is, IMO, utterly irresponsible; as was the sudden sending people who couldn't work from home back to work without proper planning and advance warning.

12 hours, or 3 days, depending how you want to interpret recent pronouncements, don't seem to me to be advance warning. More like bouncing people back into work...

But of course, we couldn't have all those lazy workers swanning around on a government financed holiday for too long, could we?

Why should they work from home when thay are telling children it is safe for them to go to school ?

I don't specifically mean oral communications Maizie more his (past) way of getting his message across e.g. the quips, one-liners, ruffling his hair before going on camera, photos of him pulling a pint, gung-ho demeanour, bung a buck for a brexit bong, etc.

No doubt about it, he used to come across as a can-doer, upbeat, jolly sort - which masked his less able and darker side.

Johnson said very clearly in his speech on Sunday that you should only return to work if it was not possible to work from home. Now why would Rees Mogg want to go against government advice?

I must say, I find the idea of him showing solidarity with the workers utterly ludicrous, on many different levels...

No wonder Rees-Mogg wants MPs to return - the prime minister looks lost without the gallery to play to.

Bozzer's strength, and it's why he's the leader of his party & PM, is that on the hustings he's a crowd-pleaser, sloganiser, a good communicator, and is recognised as such; what he's not so good at is detail and answering questions with confidence in these sombre times, without a crowd to cheer and egg him on.

I get where you're coming from suzie with that argument but then they would be running the risk of spreading the virus when returning to their constituencies.

Are they working perfectly well from home? Of course they should be back- the tube and buses will be packed as this week goes on. So it must be perfectly safe for MPs to go back. No catering staff though - they can bring their own sandwiches and flasks of coffee and organise a cleaning rota. I’m happy for them to be spread out in the chamber, various committee rooms etc

Leading by example? A sort of ‘if we’re prepared to put our lives on the line you can too’?

I hope the opposition parties tell Dom where to stick that idea and continue wfh.

Maybe to save money for the government - aren't MPs getting £10k to cover their WFH expenses?
