Ah, it brings a tear to the eye, look at the old place. It’s just as it was on the day we moved out, it’s a bit dusty....cough cough though.

I'm well aware I have impaired sight but even I can see the lack of cleaning here. Fortunately, I wore my gardening clothes when I peeped in but I was out of the door in a flash.

I am well aware nobody has been employed to carry out that task but I think the place would have to be closed down to allow an army of cleaners in and they would just be scratching the surface.

A good job the clientele are inebriated and have low standards. Covid 19 is nothing in comparison to what could be picked up there.

Sigh ? ok I’ll do the ? just line me up some drinks on the bar for when I’ve finished. carillion you and lemon can start putting up the decorations for Friday nite. lins you carry on practicing the routine you need to get those cartwheels right. ?‍♂️ ?

Carillion01 Thu 09-Jul-20 11:47:13

soop, tres chic!!!... but what's planned for Friday night's soirée (obv now speaking in sophisticated lingo). Snail crepes again? ????
Just came in to do some cleaning...(not), are those artichokes in the cellar for your 'choke blancmange?

lemongrove Thu 09-Jul-20 08:41:50

Must remember to ask Elegran what goes on at temperance meetings, have always wondered.Walking past Temperance Hall at the end of the street, it always seems strangely quiet, with a sort of murmuring noise at meeting times.....they certainly aren’t a rowdy lot.
Tbh I imagine them sitting in a circle sipping sarsaparilla through a straw.?

lemongrove Thu 09-Jul-20 08:37:46

Hmmm.....a lot of feathery bits all over the floor, did a bird fall down the chimney?
In early as we have a barrel delivery and I can’t trust Kev (being an Aussie) and therefore used to cans and bottles, to store them the right way up.Big Jim is helping me ( he appeared the other week after a mysterious absence.) We may be some time in the cellar (getting things arranged...what did you think?)
Just time for a Nespresso cafe as it’s early, I’ll leave the machine switched on as somebody may swan in to do a bit of cleaning up ( won’t hold my breath!)

Doodle Thu 09-Jul-20 01:29:19

It was the ceiling fan carillion. I did a high kick from the bar and my dress got caught up in the fan. I’ve been twirling around for ages. Please turn it off.....I’m getting very dizzy ?

Carillion01 Wed 08-Jul-20 23:56:35

Right, I'm on lock-up tonight...sacre bleu! Doodle, how did all of these feathers from your boa get all over the floor????

Doodle Wed 08-Jul-20 22:43:47

Right, time for a quiet rehearsal whilst no one is her.

Dah da dada dah da da da dada and kick and oops. Sorry Thor didn’t see you mooching in the corner with your beret on. Don’t worry, no one will notice the black eye come Friday ?

lemongrove Wed 08-Jul-20 21:57:55

Last one out lock up as usual....moon

lemongrove Wed 08-Jul-20 21:57:11

.....or a shoe in your rifle collection ?

Lins1066 Wed 08-Jul-20 21:54:41

You need more than smelling salts in here Marydoll.
Bet you've got lots of -big knickers-frilly bits for the Can Can girls to finish off their couture, lemon will be glad to see you. Can I have a rifle in your shoe collection?

Marydoll Wed 08-Jul-20 21:42:48

Lemon, having met Elegran, aka Jezebel on a number of occasions in the Auld Reekie Temperance Club for genteel ladies, I was perplexed to spy , catch a glimpse of her through a crack in the blackout curtains.?

I will keep that info under my hat, the Edinburgh grans would never believe me! She is indeed a dark horse, who would have guessed.?

Lins1066 Wed 08-Jul-20 21:30:44

Allo Allo ? ?? budge up lemon and passez moi the crisps. I've brought some garlic bread and a bottle of Ricard to get in the spirit (literally) for French night. Sante ?

lemongrove Wed 08-Jul-20 21:29:08

Oh it’s marydoll our tiny friend.....long time no see. Will you be after having a pint of Guinness? I take it you heard about the can-can at French Nite on Friday?

Marydoll Wed 08-Jul-20 21:26:20

Elegran, what on earth is a lady like you doing in this den of iniquity???????

I will never be able to look you in the ? I need my smelling salts.

lemongrove Wed 08-Jul-20 21:26:18

In that case Elegran we shall be expecting great things of you.Blackmail eh? Respect!
Puzzler.....I don’t have a pencil ?but it might put hairs on my chest.

Elegran Wed 08-Jul-20 21:23:18

Strictly speaking, I don't think lemon has a pencil, with or without lead (unless she has been hiding something from us - or is that why a posing pouch is being requisitioned?)

And why am I still hanging around here, my temperance meeting must have started without me? I'm off. Enjoy your evening.

Elegran Wed 08-Jul-20 21:18:49

lemongrove My lips are sealed. I had to sign a non-disclosure document before le directeur artistique would let me leave Paris. But I did keep the photographs as insurance.

Puzzler61 Wed 08-Jul-20 21:15:44

Right oh, I’ll nip behind the bar and get it. I’m no barmaid though.
Here it is .... a pint of cheese and onion crisps and a bucket of poteen. That should put lead in your pencil lemon.

lemongrove Wed 08-Jul-20 21:10:37

I think it will be our best night yet.....now, a pint of poteen if you please and some cheese and onion crisps, I shall be in the comfy chair near the fire if anyone needs me.?

Lins1066 Wed 08-Jul-20 21:04:52

Welcome Peardrop. I can recommend a wedge of lemon's woodland quiche, a few indeterminate feathers sticking out so clearly it's very fresh.
May I have a gold wig with purple highlights please? I'll complement Doodle's, we'll look like a couple of bookends doing the Can Can. Mr Lins has been in the shed all day knocking up a Le Moulin Rouge for the Argy stage on Friday night. Big Kev will sand it down and paint it tomorrow.

lemongrove Wed 08-Jul-20 21:02:34

Well well, so can-can knickers are constructed like that eh?
Now, the burning question of the day is....Elegran how you come to know this, hmmmm?Youthful days on the stage at the Follies De wotsit? Not something learned at your temperance club I bet.
Wigs are ordered as are some costumes but please bring your own frilly pantalons or whatever they’re called.
Thor says he will wear a beret and smoke a pipe and stand about looking moodily at the sad fact of existence and the bleakness of the cosmos ( those crazy existentialists!) and Kev
Says he will have a string of onions round his neck.
The French sailors will be back ( they promised....actually they said they were ‘on a promise’) and the Admiral and the Captain will be here wearing Mess Dress ( as opposed to their usual messy dressing.)
There will be karaoke as usual, think Charles Av.....thingy and
Maurice Chev thingy.
Am getting quite excited at the very thought.....

Doodle Wed 08-Jul-20 20:45:27

elegran the fire brigade will be on standby as they usually are for one of our Friday nite parties so if your Temperance group are overcome they can hose them down with cold water to revive them.
puzzler you could bring the posing pouch for Thor (he often poses without one) ?

Puzzler61 Wed 08-Jul-20 20:45:05

If I can still see after the poteen, I’ll be looking for that Sea Dog. ?

Carillion01 Wed 08-Jul-20 19:47:07

Puzzler you’ll love it but amid the dancing just watch out for an old sea-dog in an admiral’s uniform.
