Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another clear blue sky start to the day this morning, no sign of any frost around this way.
Today, usual shop for essentials , one thing with the lockdown, I do not know about others but I have the odd snacks ,and my weight goes up .
My hair trimmer arrived it does not due much, so looked at others online and no stock , so there maybe containers coming in with items from where they make them ,as the demand for grooming hair at home as grown.
take care
Mick

Having thought about it and done my research via Google, may I choose Colclough? My reason? It sounds Irish and my maternal grandpappy was Irish.
Thank you for giving me the choice.
I can bet that the royals are not offered a choice of china when visiting friends or family.
????
I will sip not slurp. ??

Gillybob, I - and a few other Gransnetters that I know of - got that same letter a few days ago about covid testing that your OH has had.

I registered as requested and received my test kit today - the trouble is, a courier to collect the samples has to be arranged before doing the test (test must be done on day of collection, not before), but so far I have failed miserably to arrange this by either of the methods referred to in the accompanying booklet.
Right now, I am tearing my hair out in frustration!

Megs36 Fri 15-May-20 12:23:48

My husband was in hospital mid March, isolation, oxygen, nebuliser, on his discharge sheet it states secondary diagnosis (more than one) Covid 19 test negative, much relief, so tests were being taken.

Candelle Fri 15-May-20 12:12:39

I, too, had a letter from Imperial asking if I would like to take a Covid-19 test.

I initiated the on-line form but found I was unwanted, as I take a blood-thinner. Shame, as apparently I would have received the result.

I have had two Covid-19 tests from Public Health England/Hospital of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine's weekly survey (https://flusurvey.net/) but although my GP will be sent the result, I will not.

This weekly survey helps plot 'flu in any season (one just spends one minute ticking relevant boxes as to how one is feeling).

The survey shows on a map how much flu is in your locality, week on week and I find this interesting (such a dull life!!).

Apparently both my selection for testing has been completely random.

Flusurvey are always looking for further volunteers, so if you would like to be helpful, please think of doing so!

Ragged, not tagged ?

Good morning everyone from sunny Gower ?

I feel like a naughty teenager, I woke up at 6:45am but because of the pain I'm in I took painkillers with my cuppa, I went back to sleep and only then woke up at 10:45am blush!
I haven't got my act together at all!

Glad you had a really good birthday Marydoll, you deserved it ?

Wonderful news Sentia, congratulations to your DD and her DH.

Sorry that your hair trimmed is not what you hoped for Mick. My hair is so long now I can put it in bunches and it's quite possible that they could be ringlets if I tagged my hair ? ?.

It should be onwards and upwards with Dexter now dragonfly, you have done a Stirling job looking after him.
?that the adverse publicity on tv will shake Barclays up a bit Gillybob and you finally get what's due out of them.

Little Henry is in my thoughts Susan x

It'll be afternoon by the time I post this blush

Our garden is looking fabulous with the new, very unexpected, addition we received as a gift from my three great nephews. I beautiful fragrant Azalea. My WP was over the moon.

I'd actually better start doing things with the day, what's left of it, I think ?

Take care everyone ❤️

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-May-20 11:47:30

Oh dear ? choices choices...I'll have to Google all those makes. ???
I may not be 'up to snuff' with the residents of Wirral peninsular. Gawd! What have I let myself in for...a choice of china??
Best bib and tucker called for.

NotAGran55 Fri 15-May-20 11:43:49

Gelisajams have a wonderful time and huge congratulations to the birthday boy/girl !

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-May-20 11:41:30

I escaped this morning ......Day 60 of lockdown and up till now only four walks (I have been overly cautious as I am asthmatic) I went to our local farm shop with Mr.GG13 and then our local butchers, it was such a joy to choose my own vegetables, fruit, salad and meat.

The only people I saw wearing masks were two young women (20 ish) some of the oldies had gloves, including Mr.GG13 I just used sanitizer and washed hands thoroughly on returning home.

The WHO reckon this flipping virus is probably going to be around for five years or more, so I guess we just have to learn to live with it

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-May-20 11:40:31

A post full of interest Grandmafrench ?
Merci beaucoup. ?

EllanVannin Fri 15-May-20 11:40:01

Late Morning Everyone from a very warm and sunny S of France.

Very interesting what you have said gillybob. Do hope that your DH will be tested - even just for the statistics and to help "them" work out what to do next!! Came late on this Forum to all of your suffering, but sounds as if you have been to hell and back quite a number of times (and that train is still running with your days spent on the dreaded B's).

I saw that our local Lab is running tests, for €15, if we're concerned we might have had the Virus already. I may just go and have the test because I was so unwell after Christmas, I couldn't walk a few dozen yards from the car to the water's edge. We shall see what we shall see.

Lunch today will be Courgette Soup with Rosemary and Parmesan, made with DH's fair hand this morning, accompanied by some soda bread which I made at coffee time.

Weather due to be hot and sunny next week and a drive/long walk/picnic is in order. We can travel 100kms as long as we don't stray into another department - bit like Susan worrying about straying into Wales? grin. Government anxious to keep us all in Zones and to avoid incoming sun and sea searchers needing a break from the restrictions in Paris. Big fines to pay if you are caught trying to take 'holidays' where you shouldn't.

Hairdressers are back in action! Hooray. Only needed one DH Home Haircut - he probably feels the same. She wears mask, I wear mask, big salon, very few clients. She stands behind me and doesn't touch me and only my hair without gloves after she shampoos it. She doesn't talk, I don't talk. (She never talks, she concentrates, so I won't be worried). Only difference now is no kisses. sad

Have the very nicest day you can. We should all be very pleased with how well we are coping, in spite of the odd wobble. Let's stay Lerts together and stay safe.

Hugs from France. x

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-May-20 11:23:08

Aha! At last.
Right, orders in...either cod and creamed pots n peas or breadcrumbed fish n chips please. A slice of orange cake would be most welcome to finish...with a cuppa, of course. ???
Thank you ??

Gelisajams Fri 15-May-20 11:09:21

Don’t worry Notagran! Distance will be maintained. I work for her a gardener which I’m allowed to do so am allowed in her garden! I am going at a fixed time and will be handed my Prosecco and cake. We have all been been fully Isolated since before lockdown. The day has to be a bit special when you are 100!

Bella51 Fri 15-May-20 11:06:01

Good morning from a now sunny Co. Fermanagh N Ireland. We have had an amazing run of great weather here for the past eight weeks. We have had a small shower this morning but its cleared again. It's usually pretty wet here, someone once said Fermanagh is beautiful but it would be better if we could put a roof on it. Thankfully for this lockdown it's been super hence we've got lots of outside work done.

EllanVannin Fri 15-May-20 10:55:26

Good Morning All x
It doesn't know what to do weatherwise, very unsettled so far and cool with it. It's one of the inconveniences of living close to the sea where it can be quite " fresh " on the hottest of days.

Urmston and those of you who've spoken about CV has me convinced that it's what I had too. It took me weeks before I felt anything like human----and I never bothered a soul. To be perfectly honest, when I found I couldn't breathe properly, I was too scared to press my emergency link in case I was whipped off to hospital to die. I was throwing a concoction of rum and honey mixed with hot water down my neck.

What makes it more likely in my case was having mixed with my GD's partner before Christmas who'd also suffered a chest infection over the Christmas period and of course became hospitalized and sadly died. He'd have had no immunity because of his cancer but could have had CV in his system at the time. He would NOT have died with his cancer. It's too easy to say " underlying problems " !

I don't normally get ill ( ill ) if you know what I mean which is how I knew that this was different. I couldn't even walk properly. Then my step-D got it who'd stayed with me over Christmas.

Anyway, in answer to GabriellaG54's query about my menu for today, for reasons unknown it's fish, so I can either have a piece of salmon with new pots and peas---no fennel locally, or a piece of cod ( frozen ) with creamed pots parsley sauce and peas or breadcrumbed fish and chips. Either way it'll be fish because mum always did fish on a Friday grin Also the last of my orange cake so I'll have to make another one.

Must buy some lightbulbs as I forgot the other day after saying I'll get some or I'll be snookered if they all go together. I don't like those long-life things.

Sun's out so I might set-to and wash the bedding today and mop the front step with Zoflora anti-viral.

Glad Dexter is out of danger as I'm sure he must feel better in himself. It's always hard to know what to do for the best when it comes to pets and their illnesses etc.

Maybe Martin Lewis has chivvied the bank up for you Gillybob. x I'm sure they wouldn't have been happy at being named and shamed, especially on the back of their adverts " we're here to help ! " Let's hope so.

Take care everyone and those going out, take a Lert with you.grin Stay safe and well xx

Good morning from Malta. It is overcast today but very hot and muggy.

I’m about to do the ironing but need to summon up the enthusiasm. I have become very lazy since being confined to the house so much and need to take myself in hand!

Congrats to Scentia and family. Lovely news. I keep hoping for similar news from DD3, but she is having fertility problems so each month is another disappointment.

Wishing everyone as good a day as possible. sunshine

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-May-20 10:30:22

There are many more who just ' got on
with it,' and suffered at home, than were referred to hospital or waltzed into A&E with an unknown malaise.
Testing for all should be the order of the day, not a piecemeal exercise to satisfy the press and suits.

Megs36 Fri 15-May-20 10:13:54

Just ordered take away fish and chips for tea, feeldaring, never order ‘takeaway s’. Really expensive but can’t wair??

JenniferEccles Fri 15-May-20 09:56:59

I wonder if hospitals up and down the country are contacting ex patients from months ago who were ill with an un identified virus which had the doctors scratching their heads at the time?

It would make sense if they could all be tested wouldn’t it?

Urmstongran Fri 15-May-20 09:42:11

Ha! Love your comment about the ? Gabriella!

Congratulations Scentia on your news. ?? how exciting!

Just read that London’s ‘R’ rate is now 0.4 (lower than the NW at 0.7 and West Yorkshire at 0.8) and so scientists are hoping there will be no new cases after a fortnight. Yay! Where London leads the rest of the U.K. will follow hopefully.

EV was another who was so poorly in December/January unlike any illness she’d suffered before. I remember she honestly felt she was going to die she felt so rotten.

All this does make you think. ?

Trump’s advisers are concerned that mid October the mobile phone signal went dead in that Wuhan lab for several days.

LadyO Fri 15-May-20 09:41:56

Gillybob
My 35-year old daughter also received the Imperial College letter this week... she says it was just random selection as our family hasn’t had any symptoms. I can certainly see why you would think your DH’s letter might be related to his medical history though...

Justwidowed Fri 15-May-20 09:38:10

Morning everyone from a sunny Lancashire. Lovely news*Scentia*I have 3more GGC arriving this year to add to the (busy counting on fingers ) 5 I have now.Christmas is going to be expensive ,noisy and I hope I shall be able to see them all by then.
