Many thanks, everybody.

Just cut DH's hair yesterday with WAHL clippers. Never done it before but boy - did I make a good job of it! (sorry for blowing my own trumpet) DH well pleased. Perhaps a new career!

DS1 got Babyliss for about £40. DS2 got Braun for around the same price. From experience the cheaper ones don't last - too many plastic bits to break.
They just went for a reputable make, not too cheap and not too expensive that they could get delivered. Argos only had click and collect, and a 10 mile drive to pick them up didn't sound like an essential journey to me.
DS2 wanted his for his head as previous set had gone blunt
DS1 used his for beard - I am planning to borrow them (I might ask first!) and do DH's hair.
I will report back!

Witzend, Wahl user here as well.
As you probably know they come with various sizes of comb guards depending on how short you want to cut.

You can’t really go wrong. Not unless you do what I did cutting my Dad’s hair. I selected the no 3 guard but too busy chatting and didn’t actually put it on the clippers.

I cut a completely bald pathway up the back of his head. I was horrified but my dear old Dad laughed it off and told me to just shave the rest off!

DH’s recent buy were Braun beard trimmer and hair clippers - £29.99 Argos , not Amazon. More sophisticated Braun clippers on Amazon £40 upwards.

We have Wahl clippers here too, the corded ones, l bought them from Roys of Wroxham a couple ofyears ago and they are still as good as new. They were on offer at the time for £14.95, including all the combs, clipper oil, and a pair of sissors in the box.

Wahl hair clippers with various size comb guides. Reliable last for years they do vary in price though ours from Amazon.

My husband bought a Wahl from JL just before the lockdown and is very pleased with it . The model he bought is currently out of stock on line there but they do have a fancier one in stock .
He would usually have a cut every 10 days and it has already paid for itself . My son cuts it for him in the garden!

PS they are cordless.

My DH bought some 3 weeks ago off Amazon. I can’t find where he’s put them to see the brand - but I’ll ask him when he returns home from a game of golf.
I’ve used them on him and he thinks they are a good buy.
Easy to use and several cut options. Very quickly I found the right setting for the short cut he wanted, although used scissors for the longer head on his crown.

I agree I have used Wahl cordless clippers for the last few years to cut OHs hair. I used to have Phillips ones when we lived in Spain but the Wahl ones are far superior. They are very easy to use.

Wahl cordless clippers are the ones I used on DH for years and they are also the ones that my usual hair salon use. Very sturdy and last for ever.

Dh is starting to look like the Mad Professor - his ‘fringe’ of white around his bald pate is looking like a haystack after a tornado.

I’ve never cut anyone’s hair (except a dd’s fringe once, never again), wouldn’t trust myself even with YouTube, so need to order some more or less idiot(me!)-proof clippers/trimmers or whatever they’re called.
Thank you!
