Release at last - what's everyone doing differently now?

Our guidelines have not changed.

No release in other 3 nations of the “United Kingdom”

I just played two sets of singles tennis. Followed LTA guidelines to the letter . Own equipment etc etc. Loved it. 5 minute drive to get there. I would have walked but two sets of tennis plus about 40. I it’s total walking and no access to a loo is not doable ! My mood has been so lifted.

I’m not doing a thing differently, nor do I intend to, keeping myself safe at home and in garden, always finding things to do, going to start reading soon

I’m doing no more or less than before. Have done a weekly supermarket shop all through lockdown, plus visits to local butcher and greengrocers.

Don’t agree with allowing driving all over, extra exercise yes, but some folk will use this as an excuse to drive scores of miles to the beach or beauty spots to walk their dog, or just to walk themselves.

The issue of no toilets might seem of no importance, but it is to locals who have to put up with the possible consequences of visitors who haven’t given any thought to the fact that a day out is a long time to manage without access to loos.

We can't all stay at home for ever to stop accidents, prevent litter and stop people weeing in the streets!!!

I am really disappointed the government said you can drive unlimited to exercise. Accidents are likely to increase, risk of covid 19 and litter. Also no public toilets open possibly increase in urination on streets.

'Even if you walk to the place you may trip and require medical assistance' This is taking things too far! We may trip in the house or garden. We need to get out to walk and exercise or otherwise we will increase our chances of osteoporosis, gaining weight, low mood, increasing lack of fitness to name a few. Croquet sounds ideal and tennis or golf. Of course we must regard our hands as unclean until we are home and have washed them. Enjoy your croquet nanna123

I think as long as you're using common sense and being careful (as you seem to be nanna123) it should be fine. Yes, we should all still take precautions but a little bit of easing back into our old lives isn't such a bad idea for our mental health. I plan on starting to visit my allotment more frequently again - I'd decided during full lockdown to stop visits completely. Other than that though I'm not changing much. I am doing nothing different. We live by the sea and as this weekend is supposed to be warm, there will be loads of walkers and cyclists around. So staying in the garden.

Only positive thing is folk are now driving to take their dogs out which means fewer dogs to pass with my nervous hound! I’m sure we will get a huge peak after the VE celebrations and relaxing of “rules” unfortunately.

We have done a rigorous risk assessment, nobody will be put at risk - using our own equipment and booking a lawn for 2 people only, therefore keeping to distance guidelines. The risk is no greater than walking through the park and less than shopping! The lawns are within walking distance for most people
It is a very good way to lift one's spirits without putting anyone at risk and a good beginning to starting back to life

Swearing at all the people who have decided to come out, now that they're 'allowed' to, to drive through our village or park and go walking.

Sorry, we don't want them or their germs. And most of the people I've spoken to (phone etc) agree. We liked it without the traffic!

Most of the locals seem to be maintaining lockdown.

Have you done a risk assesment on croquet? Are you all bringing your own mallets and balls?
I'm not doing anything much different. It's too early to start. I did notice more cars about when I went for my walk yesterday.

nannal23 the game itself may be good for social distancing but how will you get to and from the game?

Please think carefully about it, is playing a game of croquet really worth you putting yourself at risk and even worse putting others at risk. Even if you walk to the place you may trip and need medical assistance.

I suggested a walk to my disabled/vulnerable husband but he said it would only take someone to refuse to distance themselves from him for him to become ill and he would not recover. So we are staying in for the foreseeable.

The only way this virus will be controlled is with a vaccine, and even then the virus could mutate. I feel the World will never be the same again.

This is just my opinion - I am normally a happy go lucky person.

We can drive somewhere for exercise rather than just around our village! Don't fancy supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, pubs etc! Those of you who know, are supermarkets' toilets open? Public ones?
