I think Urmston may be joking!
Terrible relationship with DIL - am I the problem?
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but it is also cloudy here in Brackley this morning.
Today , a general tidy up in my flat ,and try and exercise a little.
TV wise I have ben watching some of Matt Damon films ,started last night on Channel 50 Sonny Film Classics with Dean martin others follow on in the evenings this week.
Still wish I could get into my former routine where I have got to know people and in some cases become friends .
Mick
I think Urmston may be joking!
Hi Urmstongran
Haven’t had our bungalow valued for a few years so can’t answer your question sorry. [?]
brook ?
Oh thank you so much all you lovely grans who congratulated my DD. She has worked really hard to get where she is after an awful time when her American husband left her for someone else. That was eight years ago. Yes, I’m very proud of her. She could have crumbled but instead she has done really well with no help from anyone.
I’ve just popped back on here to catch up with everyone’s news - so sorry Urmstongran I’ve been ages replying to your post this morning !
Yes I know Plockton quite well, a lovely place that we often visit when we can. I didn’t see the Sunday Post article but I saw very similar article in a local Facebook group. How lucky that your stepfather originates from there. If I ever get out of lockdown I’ll go into the tourist info office to see the picture !
Strangely enough I originate from Manchester myself but have been up here since 2004 - Still a newbie though ... ?
Gillybob...there was a lawyer on t.v. who talked about cases such as your daughters...might be worth looking it up on the internet for guidance as the law regarding this makes interesting reading...
That Rainbow cake looks scrummie NannyJan my 9 year old DGS would persuade me to let him cut it and he would be sure to cut an enormous slice for himself. He doesn’t have an ounce of fat on him but he has a large appetite. ?
I can vouch for the fact that the Rainbow cake is delicious (she has made one before). Sadly mrswoo I too have to gaze at it from afar! I would think a slice is half your days allowance
I have to laugh to myself. What gave me the idea that my castoffs clothes would come in handy for my GD and GGD's ?
My excuse for hanging on to them.
Just in case
---just as if !
Greetings from a blustery north of Scotland. The cherry blossom is blowing around like confetti and the delicate perfume is beautiful. It is a fleeting but intense beauty.
Two lots of washing in the line. I too am going through the wardrobe. My. DD would also be checking out my giveaways. I may FaceTime her. She is slim, as I was when working, and loves some of the high quality classic garments. She calls them vintage! I didn’t get new clothes as a child unless presents from an aunty and everything was hand me down. Even my knitted garments were made from unravelled and steamed wool. The one thing we got new from the Child Allowance was shoes. I therefore love buying new clothes but am not good at parting with anything unless I know it it going to good use. The same applied to food when I left home. Seconds were only for the men of the house, who were served first.
My little seedlings are getting all the love and nurturing that I can’t currently give my family in person. They are growing like mad. I think it is me blethering to them constantly that does it combined with the singing during the “not-the-Eurovision” on Saturday night.
bellasnonna many congratulations to your DD.
To everyone else - as usual - keep on keeping on.
Never used QVC in my life Marydoll so not guilty hehe!
Good afternoon everyone. It has taken me this long to read all your wonderful stories.
Perfect weather here for the garden in the Scottish Borders. It rained a lot overnight and is now sunny and warm and the seeds I sowed (is that a word?) have popped through the ground suddenly.
The rainbow cake was amazing NannyJan
Have a happy day all of you.
.
Urmston a lady with your name messaged QVC this morning from Spain. Is that how you are spending your time?
Puedo3 Welcome!
Kalu, if I hadn't been shielding, my DD would have been through the charity shop bags!
Hi Puedo3 I think you are a newbie? Welcome to this lovely thread.
?
So ... what’s the value of your home over there in Weston super Mare?
??
Purplepixie I could just eat a thick slice of malt loaf! Mmn. Thickly spread with butter - enough to see your teeth marks or it’s not worth having! Always ‘Soreen’s’ for me. I don’t (can’t) bake!
It's a bit grey here in Newcastle but feels quite warm.
Tuesday is Zoom Slimming World day which keeps me on track to lose a bit of weight each week. It's good to keep connected with the group and our 'leader's an inspiration. Obviously, we have to weigh ourselves and it would be easy to cheat and pretend you've lost pounds. You would be quickly found out when all this is over and you waddle into the first "in the flesh" meeting having actually gained pounds.
It sounds as if things are starting to head in the right direction "gillybob". Fingers crossed.
Ooh that cake " Nannyjan" looks delicious! Now I wonder how many Slimming World "syns" there would be in a teeny weeny slice.
I shall gaze at it from afar!
I hope everyone has a good day, with plenty of sunshine for those lucky enough to have some. Its actually brightening up here ??
Morning everyone just from Sherwood Nottingham not the forest. The park is looking lovely from my window. I may go for a walk later. These flats are so warm it's good to get outside in the fresh air. Keeps going cloudy rain is forecast but doesn't appear. I keep thinking back to last year and the things that were happening then. Not a good idea. Hope everyone has a good day and stays safe and well.
Cooker not cooked !
Good morning everyone, another grey day here in the Gower. Yesterday's promise of blue sky winning the race turned out to be fake news ?, it was chilly and eventually rained. I don't expect today to be any different ?
Congratulations to your DD Bellasnana ?
Good news Gillybob ?. I hope the only way is onwards and upwards now ?
I'm another wondering what has happened to Gabriella. Perhaps you are right MamaCaz ?. I hope she is alright.
I had an odd sort of day yesterday, for me anyway. I felt flat as a pancake, perhaps I should have made some it might have cheered me up ?.
We had the "engineer" out to sort our internet yesterday, his conclusion was that the signal we were receiving was so weak we were "dropping in and out". Hardly a technical description from an "engineer " ?. He spent most of his time outside but did come into the house once. My WP spent an hour disinfecting anything he had potentially touched afterward. I didn't even see him, but just had to ask my WP for a description ?. Apparently he was short, stocky and had a large head.
I'm another one who has, I wouldn't say a silent man but he is quite quiet and very laid back. He has to be with me as his partner ?. He says I can talk for Wales and if there was a competition I'd have a good chance of winning ?. I, on the other hand, think the competition would be very fierce ?.
Nothing much planned for today but I am looking forward to a roast chicken dinner later, it seems like a while since we cooked a dinner as we have used the slow cooked a lot.
Look after yourselves everyone, ? for anyone who needs some ❤️
Sun just coming out here in Weston super mare, seems warmer than yesterday already. I have just received some lovely flowers from my daughter in the post. She lives in Sheffield and we are missing each other like mad but FaceTime and WhatsApp whenever we can. Will be doing a bit more gardening today getting pots ready for new bedding plants.
Good Morning All x
Dull and grey-skied and one of those days where it's colder inside than out. I'm wearing a thin jumper but have a thick cardigan at the ready, unless I work myself into a sweat---which isn't realistic really.
It's taken me an age to read all the posts as I do like to read about the varying lives.
That beautiful cake put my crumpets right in the shade
,I could have made short work of a chunk slice of it.
A few bells rang with me and Marydoll's novella about getting rid of clothes of yesteryear with everything matching, shoes and all. It really is a sad time and something that I've only been able to do by degrees. A lot of my shoes have gone of which I had umpteen pairs of every colour you could think of, but all were heeled ! Good shoes too
I've hung on to a few pairs of soft leather gold summer shoes, but I fear my swollen feet will wallow over the edges so I'll have to say goodbye to those too----sometime.
Yes, it's materialistic in this climate, but it's my past and how things used to be.
If my D in Oz was here the place would be bare and like a new pin---she's ruthless
No sign of D yesterday to pick up the books for the children so I guess something must have cropped up.No doubt I'll learn why at some point. I know she was waiting for some sort of a delivery----of a shed ! Maybe she decided to transfer her rubbish overflow of items in it.
Oh how I'd love some of Urmston's warmth and sunshine it would make such a difference. Friend and I would have been out for our daily knickerbocker glories full of fresh fruit as we did when we were there.
Glad to hear that Dexter's collar/ umbrella will be off today he'll feel better for that being out of the way, bless him.
No end to the nonsense is there Gillybob. You get paranoid in the end thinking that it's just you who's being targeted ? Let's hope that things get moving in the right direction x
Gabriella could have got carried away with her driving and motored to the South of France or somewhere
Monaco anyone ?
Well I hope someone has got the sun because there ain't any here. Take care everyone and stay safe xx
Good morning from a sunny East Midlands. I was up soon and had my walk all before 9am this morning. Not many people out and had to dodge the bin men a couple of times.
A day of sewing and maybe prepare a spaghetti bolognese for tea and yet another banana loaf!! The malt loaf that I made at the weekend was soon eaten as it was delicious. I’ve never made it before but will certainly be making it again.
Take care and stay safe. X
Good morning all from a rainy Lancashire, tomorrow's forecast is for 20 degrees plus and wall to wall sunshine, can't wait.Cancelled my cruise 16th March and still waiting for refund ,at least it's nowhere as important as Gillybob wait for Barclays. Glad youve got one step further..
Starting on kitchen cupboards today, empty ,wash contents and finally disinfectant shelves. One cupboard every third day should carry me through to possible end of lockdown.
Have as good a day as possible, just going to tackle MISS MARY DOLLS puzzle.
Perhaps Gabriella has run off sailed away with the old man on the boat!
Good morning from east London, warm and sunny and if it goes the way of yesterday, hot. I’ve been out hacking a path to our back gate as DP’s put me in charge of the delivery of the new compost bin/planks (we need to build it) as he’s hurt his neck doing the exercises he was given on his pre- diabetic course a while ago. He was trying to emulate the instructor who could get her ear sideways onto her shoulder which I very unsympathetically said was not necessarily a diabetes prevention move and the idea is to go as far as you can without forcing your head over with your opposite arm. He is a very fit 69 year old but doesn’t like to think there’re things he can’t do. Walk later as long as the bin doesn’t turn up too late. Have a good day.
Good morning from a very grey slightly west of Manchester. So far I have tackled a kitchen full of last night's dishes - I had no idea they hadn't been done. I've done my part of a quiz for tonight. Caught up on Gransnet. Answered several emails, tidied the living room and I'm still not dressed!
Another one here with a very quiet OH and a daughter who is the same, so we do have quiet times in the evening
. I once told my son that my OH wasn't speaking to me and he wanted to know how I could tell!
I'm going to tackle a pile of ironing later, with my lovely press and probably a good film on Netflix and then I've got a drawing to finish, which has been set by my former art tutor. I've yet to start painting any of the ones I start every week.
Hope everyone has as good and peaceful a day as possible.
