I was in love with Clint Eastwood when he was in Rawhide in the early 60's
He is 90 today.

Another one here for David Essex! Those eyes and that voiceblush. Also Omar Sharif. I think it’s the eyes that do it for me!

Cliff Richard - only god knows why!

I will have to stop drooling over all these handsome men. But it is still Clint for me.

Tyrone Power and John Payne.

If we count pop stars then Peter Tork from the Monkees was my first crush, closely followed by David McCallam from the Man from Uncle. I remember collecting cards that came with bubble gum, with a individual picture on one side and the other side was part of a large poster. I got them all except one. hmm
Then I had a crush on Roger Moore as The Saint, but more the character than Roger Moore. I read ALL the books over and over and swooned over the TV programme.
Once I started going to the cinema on my own (instead of with my Mum to watch films like Pinocchio or Dumbo!) I fell in love with Dustin Hoffman, Omar Sharif, Robert Redford and Paul Newman.

I have seen one other poster have the same crush it was Cazb:
I was only about 12 and was in love with Richard Chamberlain
otherwise known as Dr. Kildair loved him all throughout the T.V. series.

In the 60s in Italy, for a while Clint Eastwood was our dossergrin
It went like this. He'd done the Rawhide series, then work dried up. In Cinnecitta at that time they were churning out all those 'Spaghetti Westerns' so he moved to Rome to try his luck. My then partner, later o/h, and I met him v. late at night,in a Club. He'd always travel wearing his cowboy hat, shoes with built-up heels, with his guitar over his shoulder, hoping to play for his supper. He'd been thrown out of his pensione cos he couldn't pay the rent, so we offered him a bed for a couple of nights til his money came through.
And thats how he became our 'dosser' grin

The one I seemed to favour for a while was Troy Donohue. Saw him in Where the Boys Are and that was it. Blonde hair, contrasting with a red jumper or sweater as it would be called now. I can still see him wearing it and hear his voice. Ahhh, young love.

My film crushes were Ben Murphy from Alias Smith and Jones And Paul Newman.
But as marriage material I couldn’t choose between Paul McCartney and Davy Jones from the Monkees

For those of you partial to Alain Delon, Discivering Alain Delon is on Sky Arts tomorrow at 6pm.

I also fancied Oliver Reed, but only for his looks, don't like a drunk.
Roger Moore as Ivanhoe
Elvis of course, mainly pre army days.
Others have come and gone, can't remember them now.

Another vote for Rowdy Yates here - and also Kookie from 77, Sunset Strip - he was gorgeous !

widgeon3 Mon 01-Jun-20 13:04:04

Yes , several of those mentioned from the 50s but mostly Dirk Bogarde
This lasted until the 60s when an acquaintance mentioned that she used to be on the switchboard at the Savoy where he would stay
The 'code' there was 'I would like to speak to Mary'. They were always happy to receive such calls which they found somewhat amusing. My teenage dreams were shattered

grandtanteJE65 Mon 01-Jun-20 12:52:17

No, I never had a crush on any film star, as a teenager, but I had a violent crush on our church organist, and later on Yehudi Menuhin. I watched all his master classes on BBC2.

My mother thought him a marvellous violinist, but found him arrogant as a person when teaching on the television. I never could see that.

Gregory Peck was my crush....... Years later, I named my son Gregory..... and he loves his name , as he was the only one with the name in his school. He had three Matthews and four Daniels in his class alone in the ‘90’s .

Peewitt52 Mon 01-Jun-20 12:20:13

Ooh yes. Clint Eastwood and Richard Chamberlain aka Dr Kildare. I had a “signed” picture from him.

annemarg Mon 01-Jun-20 12:11:44

My first film favourite was Errol Flynn!!! (I am over 80!)

Then:

Gregory Peck
Paul Newman
Patrick Swayze (after Dirty Dancing!)

BeenBizzy Mon 01-Jun-20 12:11:07

It has to be Tony Curtis as a 15yr old ....... Then Roger Moore. He was gorgeous. Often if filming an episode
of "The Saint " needed a hospital scene then it was where I trained....... It was amazing how he could unfold getting out of the sports car and there was never a crease in his clothes.

Calendargirl oh yes, loved Omar sharif in Mayerling. Was a brilliant film. Unfortunately it’s never shown on TV and you can’t get it on DVD or Blueray. X

David McCallum for me too, I've just looked him up online and he is 86 now!

I had a massive crush on George Harrison from the Beatles but really, my only lasting one has been for Marianne Faithful!

I was about 7 when I heard a knock on our front door. Very unusual as the constant stream of visitors usually just came straight in. I answered the knock then quickly shut the door in the man’s face because I thought it was Clarke Gable. It was one of my Mum’s brothers who rarely visited. Fortunately they both thought it was funny.
