Good Morning Everyone...just. Am late today. Well, we've had soft continuous rain since yesterday afternoon and now the sun is coming through and everything drying. The text about a storm was helpful but there was no need for panic this time and nothing damaged and no mess. The plants will certainly benefit.
The soft South of France types will have been reaching for their jackets this morning - it was only 19 degrees ! The town alarm was wailing yesterday - a monthly test. I asked when we moved here, what should we do when we hear it? The Baker told me, nothing unless you hear it on a different date, different time - then you need to urgently find out what's happening. Should've had a massive alarm wailing for Covid!
Urms - you're a lot of fun but I definitely wouldn't want you as my tour guide.....
Really clever girl, but having to ignore that wonderful cake, Sar.
Grandmattie - Accept no excuses (or pain) he must come home and make you and himself so happy !
Dragonfly waste not another moment on your neighbour and his antics, find a distraction and feel better. A long chat with a friend always works for me. You mustn't let this get you down.
Gelisa Is it actually possible to have too many loos ?
Marydoll Gossip in the Garden - you should have a little sign made. How lovely. Even I have condensed milk here, already boiled, but can't honestly touch it whilst (claiming to be) on a diet. I'm following Harrigran's new carrot diet and plan to lose weight really fast.
Gingster/Nfk Eating, walking, talking with friends. How lovely is that. One day maybe we can be free to do that - a lot.
Georgesgran Wishing you a better day after today, and sending you and DH a hug in your very difficult situation.
Grammaretto How very sad - when pets go they take a part of your heart and your life with them.
Hope you have some good news from the Lake District soon, EV and that you, gilly, get the work you are hoping for.
Wishing you all a good Thursday with some positivity and a bit of fun, however small that bit!
Hugs from French France x

Good Morning Thursday
(49 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another grey but a dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterday received my first reimbursement as regards to west end shows.
When you look at it with limitations as to theatre seating , plus even coach travel rearranging customers seats .
Its bad enough with bus serves with the 2m restrictions, bus full if 11 people are on a single , or 20 on a double decker, not funny unless they run every few minutes.
Take Care ,
Mick
Just popped back in, while I have a restorative coffee, and my fingers are well and truly crossed that Gillybob, receives her order.
Now I will go and mix all my ingredients together for a tea loaf. The cake tin is empty.
Good morning all from a much cooler Glasgow so possibly a day indoors. Does this mean I have to do housework??
I understand how you feel Grammaretto the sadness of losing a family pet leaves such a big hole in our lives.
Dragonfly your unpleasant neighbour comes across as a very unhappy man with little to fill his life. What’s done is done through no fault of yours. Get your big girl pants on and don’t allow him to upset you more. I do know how you feel but in the scheme of things, this is nothing.
What a lovely gesture from your GD to her best friend Sar The cake looks wonderful.
Lovely to see you posting again jacq. You have been missed.
Sorry to hear of your cancelled trip to Paris (my favourite city) Tilly especially for such a special occasion.
Good to hear your neighbour was over for a blether Marydoll. A little bit of normality and hoping you can look forward to more visits now.
Have the best day you can everyone and wishes for a better one for our friends who are struggling.
Good Morning All x
Not so spicy weather -wise with a lot of cloud around, a stark difference from last week, but I'm not going anywhere.
Just finished another lengthy call from D in Oz before she sat down to dinner. She'd met up with friends for the first time for weeks, in a café and was saying that they all felt nervous at being out and about.
I'd have been wiping the cutlery and round the cups
Though it's not as bad there as here but they're waiting to see what their winter brings !
Nothing much on the agenda so far, sun's just come out albeit a bit watery looking. I haven't had chance to get washed and dressed yet as the support officer rang up first thing to see how I was doing, then 5 minutes later my D, so I'll have to put a spurt on and make myself presentable----to who ?
I could just do with doing Urmston's lovely walk. I loved the walks there and the train along the coast. I remember being in a town square strolling along and a wasp got down my top and stung my middle. It didn't half hurt then itch so fortunately I had an insect repellent " stick " which stunk of ammonia which did the trick.
Dragonfly I hope your neighbour sees sense as there's nothing worse in having to try and avoid contact. It just sets up a bad feeling all the time.
That lovely cake that's pictured is making me feel greedy for wanting another chunk of the cream cake my neighbour brought me back from shopping. It looks so tempting.
Must get a move on now before the day's ended. Sirloin steak today and fried new potatoes left over from yesterday. I'll fry tomatoes as a veg, that'll do.
Hoping everyone remains well and stays safe xx
Thank you all you lovely people sympathising with our dilemma. Heartwarming indeed.
May all you pain be champagne!
A quick, late good morning from the NE coast where we have another dull and cold start to the day. More rain expected later
I’ve been up and out quite early this morning. Sitting in “this place” awaiting a conference call that may ? bring us some work in .
Will catch up in a while as I’m busy having a good clear out . Will just pile all the “rubbish” up as sometimes my idea of junk is “the lads” idea of treasure.
Hoped for some news from Mancgirl and her new baby . I hope I haven’t missed it?
I’ll try and pop back later if I get chance.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.
Love
Gilly x
Good morning from the Shropshire borders where the sun is shining.
Sorry to hear about your DD’s dog Grammaretto. Our pets are part of the family and it is so sad when we lose one.
I totally understand your upset after your run in with your neighbour dragonfly.Hope you feel better soon.
Thinking about Cherry,Ellan and her family, gilly and her family.
Good Morning folks from a dull (but at least dry at the moment) Hamilton. Sorry to hear about your dog Grammaretto, you get so attached to them it is hard when they go. Going to walk round to friend's house later for coffee in the garden so hopefully it will stay dry. We should have been on a plane to Paris this morning as it is our Ruby wedding on Saturday, so feeling a bit dumped to TBH. Hope everyone has a good day and we get the sun back soon.
Good morning to Mick and friends. Managed to get myself motivated to do a post. Like a lot of people I am finding myself longing for my life to get back to "normal". I know this is selfish as there have been so many that have been having really awful times. I am in admiration for many of the GNs who have been posting and keeping us all going. Summer has come and hopefully this will lift spirits although today in the north it's pretty grey but we haven't had any heavy rain recently and enjoyed record temperatures last week. Special thanks to Marydoll for her tales -sometimes so funny and at other times showing her stoicism in dealing with her health and circumstances and also to Urmstongran for giving me so many memories of Spain.
So sorry to hear about your DD’s dog Grammaretto. I thought he was on the mend. It is always a sad day when we lose a pet.
Good Morning from a very grey, but still very dry N.,Cambs.,
Lovely friend/neighbour brought us a fruit loaf yesterday, she & her DH will join us for coffee & chat in garden soon.
Take Care folk.
Good morning all from a dull mid-Notts. Fine atm but looks like it rained overnight and maybe more due later?? Sainsbury's have just delivered so have a nice full fridge again, the wine rack is replenished and I have a couple of bags of dried/tinned food to put out for collection by our food bank. Unsurprisingly the number of people needing their help over the past weeks has increased massively so we always order extra in order to make a donation on our shopping days. Chicken salad for tea tonight - nice and easy
. Stay safe everyone and may Thursday be kind to us all x
Good morning all from the chilly Scottish Borders.
I wish we could get some of your Spanish cheer Urmston though you will be sore today after all that walking. It's about 9 miles each way to Torremolinos.
Sorry about the doctor trip Harrigran I must say our health centre is well set up and you still go in. It's a new -ish building with a lot of space.
We are in mourning for our DD's family whose dog died last night. We are all sad as over the years she has been part of the family. She was there before the DGC arrived.
I could do with some of your Taiblet Marydoll pure comfort food.
Have a nice day everyone and sorry to be so gloomy.
A slice of that DGD cake would be lovely, thanks Sar53
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s dull, grey and cool in South Yorkshire but promises to be dry, so we are going for a park walk later this morning to get us out of the house. Son in law is shopping for us today, so we will call on the way home and pick it up. Something light for supper this evening; not sure what yet but it will probably involve cheese. We seem to have a lot of cheese! Have a good day folks.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good Morning from Fife where the sun is shining atm but rain is forecast for later. It's cleaning for me this morning will be glad when my girl is able to return as it takes me twice as long and I end up with an aching back.
Urmston your pic fairly cheered me up as I've walked through that square many times and hopefully will again in November. So pleased you're now able to get out and about to enjoy the glorious sunshine.
Having a wee trip out to a local Nursery this afternoon for bedding plants to add more colour to the garden.
Going morning, grey and dull here. Had a tiny bit of rain yesterday, not enough so will have to water allotment this afternoon. Shopping this morning and then a Zoom with my upholstery friends. I hope the person who runs it won't be ranting this morning, she is furious with the way the government has handled this, I'm not happy either but would like to talk about other things, no chance last week!
Good morning all,
It's a dull, grey start to the day, but no rain as yet, though it is forecast. We had some rain yesterday, but I managed to pot up the pansies between showers, which are brightening the garden.
Pilates today, then after I'm not sure yet what I'll be doing, apart from read all the posts, as I've only skimmed through them, not read them properly yet.
Hope today is kind to you, keep safe.
Good morning from a grey muggy Kent.
Himself was disappointed we didn't get any rain and is just off to the plot to do watering.
I will be doing the usual pottering in doors and will be waiting for the rescheduled parcel that I missed Tuesday.
Stay safe
Good morning Mick and team, from a cool, grey east London.
So sorry to hear about your DH Georgesgran , it must be a worry.
Dragonfly sorry you are still feeling down about the tree and your neighbour. I think he should be feeling bad about his behaviour. I hope it all blows over quickly.
Urmston what a lovely place to have lunch, it beats my kitchen.
My ‘wretched’ phone is now in full working order, but of course an apology is too much to hope for. My partner thinks I should complain and demand some money back ... but he thrives on such things ... I may not be able to summon up the mental energy.
Ollie, our ex-stray cat brought me a mouse at 6.50am this morning. I chased him back out into the garden and the poor mouse escaped. Now Ollie is sitting in the garden on ‘important duty’ watching the shrubs incase it re-emerges.
? to those who need them. Have a good day everyone. ?
PS I just spotted an icon for a fried egg ? and am sending that to anyone who, like me, thinks a fried egg on toast would be jolly nice.
Good morning from a grey, breezy Colchester. There were a few rain spots on the window when I got up, but nothing more in the way of much needed rain.
Our garden waste bin has been emptied for the first time since March so we can get to work filling it again. Will hose it out first.
Jay's pub quiz tonight online with the family.
Good Morning from a dull and chilly Fife. Much prefer the weather we've been having recently rather than the normal we should expect for Scotland - cool. Anyway we should think ourselves lucky I suppose it could be much worse. Didn't do a lot yesterday at all, in fact a wasted day which I absolutely hate myself for. Have some shopping to do today and DH is going under the floor to do some pipe work. Beautiful cake Sar53 well done to your GD. Urmstongran now that's the kind of weather I like
. Dragonfly - keep your chin up. Marydoll I eventually got some condensed milk and haven't used it yet after all my moaning about not having any
. Hoping today is as good as it can be for everyone. Keep your chin up.
GoodMorning Mick and all. Cool and dry here on the S Welsh coast. We managed a walk yesterday evening after the rain stopped, the air was very fragrant from all the flowers in bloom, especially the roses.
I don't think we will see our cleaner for some time, we are fine with that, my DH does the hoovering as it is too difficult for me.
That is a beautiful cake Sar your GD did well there.
Enjoy your quieter day Urmston, your pork sounds nice. I am going to make some beef in red wine, my DH is fine eating salads but I think he will appreciate a change in cuisine!
Hope you see you son grandMattie
A gentle hug for dragonfly try not to let your insensitive neighbour upset you any more, hard though isn't it.
Stay safe everyone.
Georgesgran wishing you strength for the day ahead. I'm filled with admiration for you. My life is uncomplicated by comparison. Bless you.
Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
It rained here yesterday, but really only a sprinkling, but better than nothing, and it is still grey now.
I have almost finished my first "Fish and Chip" jumper, and will start another later on, but am wondering when and if they will still be sending them. I still have a stash of Canula sleeves, that I made earlier on in lockdown.
Mick saying about the buses, made me think about how I am going to get to my mammogram appointment, in about 2 weeks time. It will be a follow up to surgery I had a while ago. The hospital car parking is horrendous, and I have used the Volunteer driver scheme in the past, but that is not running now, so was thinking about using the bus.
There will be a Zoom coffee morning later, nice to look forward to, and then think about a birthday cake for DH, who will be 82 very soon. What on earth do I buy him as a present? We used to try and have a short holiday around this time, to celebrate both our birthdays, but not at the moment, and he always says that he doesn't want anything.
Marydoll you've cornered the market in condensed milk.
Put me down for some fudge, if you make any.
Hope everyone has a good day.
