It's not just the colour of the woman, it's the hairstyle itself. Black hair in its natural state or in style considered black is missing from the professional category

My Google actually gave me a couple of black women in the 'professional' hairstyle . Many more white women

Saw this article about it

Quite interesting

I just googled them, as you advised. Good Heavens! The so-called 'unprofessional' styles look absolutely fine to me. I notice there are no black hairstyles in the so-called 'professional' groups.

Whose opinions are these, you have to wonder?

...........and 'systemic racism' as she just couldn't understand what the terms mean, given that she thinks most people are treated more or less the same in the UK. I was fortunate to have recently been given an excellent example by a black acquaintance that graphically exemplifies these terms:

What does 'sytemic racism' look like? Try this. Type 'women's professional hairstyle' into a google image search; now type 'women's UNprofessional hairstyle' - see the difference? That's a demonstration of systemic racism and white privilege.

My sister was truly shocked and now has a much better understanding of some of the in-built obstacles people of colour need to grapple with.

I thought it was worth sharing. smile
