Soops kitchen for caring and sharing...
(1001 Posts)I am so very sorry. My computer has died on me. Am having to use MacS's and am in a bit of a pickle. Just wanted to open this new kitchen and try to catch up later.
Well. I made a LARGE chocolate sponge on Friday and following an overnight visit from darling daughter dgc and sil I went into the kitchen and I can’t find it anywhere!
So today I’ve made a lemon drizzle cake instead. I hope that will satisfy those of you who a hungry spot.
I honestly expected some of the chocolate one to be left, but not even a crumb.
But it was lovely to see them all and the girls loved their new bunk beds. Griffin insisted on trying the truckle bed , but as he kept kicking Merryn ( who objected) he had to be put in with mummy and daddy! Still I think he acts as a good contraceptive
Good afternoon from a sunny hot Portugal. Sorry I have been absent for some while but I took a break from the internet and have been reading books instead. I was getting so depressed by social media that I thought a break would do me good.
I am so sorry to hear of the problems you and your DH are going through Synonymous. You really shouldnt have to go through it when they should just be paying what they should and not trying to wriggle out of it.
I am okay and am reducing my painkillers even more now which feels good. Still dont have a date for a CT scan and I have an appointment with my Oncologist on Thursday evening. I dont know yet if it will be at the hospital or another telephone consultation. After 6 rounds of the oral chemotherapy it would just be nice to have some visual proof that the metastases are shrinking.
I dont know if I will be able to catch up with all that has happened while I have been away but have been thinking of you all.
Panache It is always a pleasure to read your posts. Stay safe.
Purplepixie Us lt agree that you are very good, kind friend. Wishing you all manner of comforting blessings.
Maw I had a good feeling that your family occasion was going to be one to remember in a positive way. Even the weather managed to behave during the barbecue. After which, as you rightly say, you all piled indoors and continued to enjoy each other's special companionship.
Keep up the good work, Hattie x
Synonymous I fully understand your grave concerns and cannot help but feel disgusted that, after all the trauma you've both been through, through no fault of you own making, the legal system has the upper hand. It is so unfair and unjust.
A big warm Welsh Hello to you all.
I have not forgotten you and this lovely refuge!!
Another Hospital trip followed by a second was rather time consuming,so upsetting knowing my beloved needs me as much now as I need him.But as you know sometimes we are not totally in charge of our own lives!
Still shielding until 16th August, whilst the sparsely populated County is simply over run with tourists as never before, we dare not peep out from the safety we have here within our own boundaries.
In fact we shall both continue in a manner of shielding until a vaccine is found and administered, yes it maybe a long wait, but hopefully we shall be alive!!
A short car drive, walks in quiet areas, and needful Dentist,Optician and Hair salons may be the exception............certainly no stores, shops, visiting, meals out etc.
A case of the survival of the fittest!!
I now need to have a jolly good catch up so that I know exactly what you have all been up to!!
Trusting to find you all"In the pink" and staying safe!!
A sunny, warm welcome to Grandmabatty. I've plumped the cushion on the chaise and you have a
and
ready and waiting.
I am finding it impossible to mention everyone so please know that I really am TOYA
Nannytopsy the root of ALL evil is money!
Mawb yes, I think that is exactly what they are trying to do, to scare us into accepting a much lesser sum than is needed in fear of being landed with all the court costs if we should take it to court.
It has made me realise what is behind the news stories of people being awarded sums of money but the costs being deducted and then they are left with insufficient funds to make their home safe and accessible. I didn't realise that there can be a sealed 'minute of transfer' submitted to the court which is only opened after an award is made and then if the award by the court is less than that which is in the envelope then ALL the costs are deducted from the award. That is really a concern! I have been told of one man who was told that he did not merit a 'rolls royce' prosthetic and that was what made all the difference to the final figure. An age thing perhaps?
Himself commented that his own leg was "well broken in and comfortable" before he had that van crash into him! I suppose it depends on how the judge is feeling on the day.
This is a great concern as we don't know which way to jump since the amount offered is not even enough to cover both the costs of adapting our home and future care costs never mind any compensation for the 'loss of a limb' or 'pain and suffering' so there has been much prayer sent up and sought!
In the legal world it appears to be very much "dog eat dog" and so cutthroat. We are 'speaking to counsel again this week so we will find out his advice but then the decision belongs entirely to Himself so that is really tough for him. Trying not to let it stress us but that is not easy!
Thank you Puzzler - cautiously optimistic about our four-legged friend. She had a peaceful day yesterday (well, reasonably) as D didn’t bring their dog - as they think he has FLEAS (!) and can’t have his flea treatment until tomorrow- and my sister in law’s dog who is a very sweet terrier but a bit of a nightmare, stayed in the car on the drive with occasional walks by my nephew who came too.
Hattie disappeared upstairs to my bedroom quite early on (those pesky people puppies and then later on some rumbles of hunger) and spent most of the afternoon on her bed which I had moved up there - or possibly on my bed!
Hi all in this lovely warm kitchen. Sorry I haven’t been around lately but life tends to catchup on us. Sending love and hugs to all who are suffering and I will get to read the latest posts later today.
My friend is still in hospital and slowly improving. Her poor husband and daughter are so worried,as I am, about her.
Soop - I hope your husband’s scalp is a lot better.
Maw - Sending love to you and Hattie. Sorry if I have missed anyone out - XX
Catchup soon with some chocolate fudge brownie and hot chocolate.
Good morning Maw in your florist’s shop. What better ornaments could you have - all symbolising the love your family have for you and it’s wonderful to hear you managed the day well and enjoyed it. Well done to you.
How is your black four- legged friend doing today? ?
Whois Stan?
“Stand” ?
Synonymous I am sorry to hear you are experiencing additional grief at the moment. It sounds as is somebody is trying to steam roller you, bully you into throw g in the towel - to mix my metaphors. You have to be very strong to Stan up to this sort of pressure and medical issues can sap your energy at the best of times.
Yesterday was a lovely day and I am so grateful to my lovely family for turning a day I was dreading -afraid I would be overwhelmed with nostalgic and sad regrets for what we missed - into a real celebration . We managed to get most of the way through our barbecue lunch before the heavens well and truly opened and we had to flee indoors - but you know what? It didn’t matter a bit.
The house is smelling and looking like a florists too!
I received an email from my GP surgery yesterday stating that life will not return to normal there at least until the end of 2001 and even then there must be a vaccine up and running.
That is quite a while for somebody of my age not to have face to face contact with my GP because I do not do Skype etc.
There was very little rain here yesterday and so far it is dry here. The sun is peeping out.
TOYA
Syn I am so sorry to hear that on top of everything, you are being messed about legally. It is not necessary. Money will be at the root of it I guess.
Hello everyone, not been posting as I have been too schemozzled! Been to the big smoke three times to take Himself to appointments. He has a swanky new leg which is giving him a bit of pain atm but will hopefully settle down. We go again in a month for another check up but I always stay in the car - except for a loo visit by special permission as I said I wasn't bringing Himself unless I could use the loo so they relented!
We have been up to our ears in court preparations whilst hoping we don't have to go that far. Silly inadequate offers have been made and they are serving tricksy procedures on us which I think you could call putting on the frighteners. Himself didn't ask to be injured in any way and is the innocent party so I don't understand what is going on or why - but then I was always taught to be kind
Hugs and
to all and I am TOYA xx
Grandmabatty so pleased to hear somebody else is keeping up standards.
Tara is hovering, waiting for me to go to bed so I will oblige.
He Wasn’t sure!
Grandmabatty do you wear pearls too? You could keep Galen company! DH is upstairs telling stories to DGC. It may be a while! Our GS (6) is quite anxious and after all these months he was sure he wanted to be away from Mum and Dad.
He is happier now that I have promised to sleep in there with them. Oh joy! ?
We don’t always realise the effect this has on the littlies.
? Maw
Thank you charleygirl I'm not very refained though. I do wear evening gloves and a tiara when loading the dishwasher so I hope that's good enough? I have an evening of doing nothing. I just watched the pilot episode of Starsky and Hutch which took me back.
Soop perhaps your va va vroom has gone with Marydoll ‘s - who knows where? A mystery. But you’ve had a trying week.
It will be back; just rest for now. Any jobs can wait.
“Hasta mañana” as the Spanish say.
Who could tell from looking at Henry what a poorly boy he has been Susan ? He’s a smasher. ?
I’m sure he can be as mischievous as he likes and you will all just be happy he is better and making good progress.
Long may it last ?
Nice to see a mischievous wee Henry, Susan. They're lovely at that age. If little children are mischievous, they're simply curious and should never be thought of as 'naughty'. One of mine suffered from tummy pains until he was two when they found the cause and operated. He was always up to something and still is - he's now 46!
soop, sorry you're feeling lethargic - I sympathise! Never mind top gear - you can go quite far in second! Have a good rest.
Henry is lovely, Susan. No mistaking that he’s a boy!
