How long?
250 years for Europeans and about 60 million years for the original settlers?
Callistemon As a retired schoolteacher I'm sure your arithmetic is impeccable and to be exact we've been here exactly 49 y 113 days as we pass through yet another Solstice! and another Father's Day! with poor Dads and Grandads in lockdown! sad
Not Father's Day here, but I'll drink a toast to them all the same! grin
So much progress has been made in those 250 years, especially in the last 50.

We once went on a wine tasting tour in the Hunter Valley. What a day. It was great. The driver brought along his pet baby wombat and we all got to cuddle it as we went from vineyard to vineyard. The noise level went up a lot in the minibus as the day went on. Sadly the teetotal Korean couple in the back seat didn't seem to enjoy the day as much as we did ???

I am very refined
Callistemon Are we talking sugar or flour, even self-raising! ? grin I'm sure you are refined, but I'd rather think of you as "svelte!"; conjures up images of slender/graceful figure/ slim/lithe/suave. Take your pick. Although, "lithe" might not be so relevant these days, given the ravages passage of time!
But I'm sure you look very refined holding that glass of Shiraz in the correct manner! hmm.

Poor old Captain Cook, I hear that his statue is on the endangered list.

I do prefer a nice Aussie Shiraz or Sav Blanc, Rufus
I am very refined.

Aussies don't believe in wasting syllables!
AGAA4 Sorry! you've lost me! confused It's only 49 years since we landed on these shores girt by sea, so I must admit we haven't had time to learn everything there is to know about Aussies! hmm

Good onya, Ruf!
That's beaut, mate
Callistemon Pity we can't hear that sung in Strine; after we've had a few XXXXs of course, to deaden our senses! sad

Is this a private blue or can anyone join in?

Did you start the fight or finish it off? grin

Our fave Oz comment was made after a fight/scuffle broke out in a bar we were at in Alice Springs after a day's hard drinking(and a 'blue' means a fight), so "Is this a private blue or can anyone join in?" gringringrin

Add these to your Lexicon. You may get to visit us one Year! hmmCourtesy of our Council's Social Inclusion Club.
"Social distancing doesn't mean social disconnection".

Sanny ----- Hand Sanitiser.

The Rona -- Self-explanatory.

In Iso ----- Self Isolation/Lockdown.

Magpie--------Supermarket Hoarder.

In a Sentence;
My boss tested pozzi for the rona, so now I'm in iso. Popped down to Woolies or some sanny, but it's all been magpie'd.

Also; "I accidentally swallowed a bunch of scrabble tiles.
My next trip to the bathroom could spell disaster! grin
