What is your definition of success.......

Serious.... looking back on my life with deep satisfaction and only one major disaster which was completely outwith my control. Frivolous.....getting just one item, no matter how trivial, off my 'to do' list.

My definition of success today (will), be FINALLY clearing and tidying my sewing room.

My definition of success should be staying alive, and getting through each day. It's having FINALLY accepted that I'm better without my extended family, and that being me, not trying to be like them is just fine.

However truly I don't really see my successes more my failures.

Being able to put my knickers on while standing up.

Waking up in the morning and feeling a sense of relief that I'm not dead!

Silverhippy How do you tell? It's usually tea-time before I get that feeling!

At work, being well regarded by colleagues and students. At home, having a tidyish house and spending lots of time with my grandson.

I'll regard it as a success if I manage to stay in well-paid employment for the next 5 years. Touch and go given the combination of my age and the global pandemic.

My greatest success has been raising my lovely, caring, loving DD who in turn is raising my two lovely, caring, loving DGSs.

My greatest success in lockdown has been redecorating my bedroom, this entailed moving furniture around on my own, it just needs a few finishing touches & I'm so proud of my achievement, now I've started on my Lounge

I shower before I go to bed so it's straight up & dressed in the morning, anytime before 8 is acceptable! I try to do all my work in the morning so I can relax in the sun/potter about in the garden/chat with my neighbours/read a book in the afternoon.

I've started baking cakes again since the lockdown, some more successful than others

Yesterday, dgd, aged nearly 2, started responding to my prompt of "What do you say.?", as I gave her something, with "thank you" - her version of it, anyway.
That, to me, was a success

Success for me is producing a meal (or cake) that people truthfully enjoy eating!

Also, managing to have raised 3 sons who are kind, well balanced husbands and fathers. I must have muddled through the obstacle course of motherhood somehow.

Keeping my internet time down to less than three hours! It never used to be like this, but the interesting things you can find, and that somehow lead you on the something else interesting.

Oh Nams - can you/do you talk about it? Is it just this wretched Covid thing or have you reached a point in your life where you've got a bit lost ? Very happy for you to PM me if you feel like a good rant/moan or just need to chat. My all time favourite thing is trying to cheer people up and sometimes, I even succeed! Hope your day is a better one today. and a hug to you.

A state of happiness and being content is my definition of success.

You don't need to be a minted millionaire to achieve success.

It's only my definition, not where I am, really.

Unfortunately waking up not crying seems to be where I actually am

Mine is still getting the cat to take the bird outside!!

To be able to look in the mirror and feel that, whatever, I have always tried to do my best; to feel content and comfortable in my own skin and free from stress - after an often stressful life- and to be able to love and be loved.

Success for me is raising well balanced happy and hard working children. To have a good job and enough money coming in and being content with my lot. I am happy with my lot but how I so wish my late husband was here to share it with me, it will never be the same without him, but I paint a face on each day as loads more have it worse than me.

Being contented, and occasionally happy.

For me its completing my self assessment tax return ready to go to the accountant.
Its the job I hate the most and I find the most ridiculous and bizarre reasons for putting it off. Its not even as though its difficult - just hate doing it.

I have a fabulous sense of achievement when its done - until I remember its going to cost me a chunk of money .

Talking of which.... no I haven't done it yet!!

I am so lucky in that my children have grown up to be really nice kind people. Yes, that is success to many people.
But I am trying to learn the guitar during lockdown, from an online source. Success is getting a few notes right and now I am learning my first chord, chord C. At 79 my fingers don't always do what I want and every small step is a little success!

I am very proud of both my children but don't feel I can take credit for them, always say they have done well despite all their parents mistakes so their achievements are their success not mine .

My definition of success currently is feeling happy and contented in my own skin, not feeling any pressure to comply with ,or live up to , anyone else's expectations. Also a bonus if I manage to resist that snack that is calling to me, if I hold out a bit longer hubby will have eaten all those choccy biscuits.

This year, growing the first ever radishes of my entire gardening life that weren't woody and inedible!

That which annoys/ upsets me and I can deal with putting the ball back in my court I see as success*yay*

I don't know if its success but I am a generally happy person. I don't have great ambition but I've done okay. I brought up 2 girls mostly on my own,( husband who worked and played in the oil industry until he left with one of his many conquests) saw my girls through uni and both happily married with children. I am happily retired and live quietly and content with my 2 west highland terriers. That to me is a successful life.
