We will never have grandchildren now. Clearing the loft I found a box of matchbox cars and also a box of LEGO.
I’m a bit out of touch. Do today’s children still play with these things any more?
No idea what to do with them.

LEGO still very popular, sells well at car boots in my experience.

My GS loved little cars, was always lining them up. If they’re in mint condition, with their boxes, could be worth a bit I suppose, but not well used ones, however still playable.

Lego has moved on since my son was little. My DGSs have loads of it. DGS 2 got a Lego train set for his birthday, it is controlled with a mobile phone!
A charity shop or children's centre might like the Lego and cars, you'd have to ask.

The little ones in my family have always loved both of these "old" toys; I kept my DS's Lego and cars for years, to be used by visiting relatives. (The "old" cars appeared to be fascinating to today's children.) Can you pass these toys on to someone who has small children or DGC?

I think they’re valuable if in good condition. However I’m sure a lot of children would be pleased to have them - how about a charity shop? Lego is always popular so ditto.

My dh accumulated a load of Dinky Toys as a child, and was v upset when his mother gave most of them away - without asking him - once he’d gone off to university.

Many years later, the remains of his collection was stored in our loft when we were living abroad and the house was rented out.
We finally came back to find that one thieving bugger of a tenant - impossible to know which! - had nicked them! ?
Poor old dh.
They were all such supposedly ‘good’ corporate-let tenants, too - German, French, Japanese.

If you watch some of the Antiques related programmes , as to Matchbox you will get an idea of value on the market based on good condition and also original boxes .

My grandson loves Matchbox cars or any cars really. Wish you lived near me. I would have bought them off you, just for him to play with.
But as someone mentioned, if they are in good condition and you still have the boxes, they will be worth quite a bit.

Have a look on eBay, it will give you an idea of value.

Matchbox cars are collectable more so if they are in their boxes.
Some old style lego is too.
