Wood pigeons nesting.......

..........in a conifer by the rail of my decking. I have been sitting just feet from them and watching them bob in and out. They seem remarkably inefficient and keep dropping the twigs they collect before they get them to the nest, which must be buried deep in the tree. Fascinating to watch them.

We have a pair of wood pigeons who nest every year in a conifer in our garden. I love watching them and other birds swoop down to gather the copious dog hairs that float about when I am brushing our Labrador; they must have lovely cosy nests! I know lots of people don't like the cooing sound that pigeons make, but I love it.

They seem to prefer conifers and we've got a nest here too. They've dropped a lot of twigs nearby. I've seen them bring a twig - then leave it anywhere to go and eat!
