I love flowers too. Always acceptable. I bought my husband a Gardening magazine subscription and it’s the best present I’ve bought him.

A birthday and an easing of Lockdown. What a memorable day ?
We’ll ignore the forecast for rain and the wind may blow it away over the Channel.

Yes Puzzler61 - I think it's supposed to rain....!

Thanks AGAA4!

Enjoy the picnic Grannybags. It will be hard to not cuddle them though. Good Luck!

Is your birthday 4th July Grannyb?

Grannybags Tue 30-Jun-20 15:54:54

This year it will be a socially distanced picnic with my son and two granddaughters. I'll have to sit on my hands so I don't cuddle them though!

It's 4th July so not long now!

For my last birthday DD1 sent me a fancy cream tea in a box delivered to the door by Mrs Shabby and Mrs Chic. I was delighted!

I always give DS1 (in USA) an annual subscription to the BBC History magazine and our local history group magazine for his birthday. He often says how much he enjoys them. Easy to do as the postage to USA for any other gift would be horrendous.

The subscription of flowers is a fabulous gift dragonfly.
My gift on leaving a job was 2 years subscription to Woman & Home magazine and that was a great gift too.

My sister got me a tour day and afternoon tea at David Austin Roses one Birthday - so thoughtful and a super Summer’s Day Out.

I buy a Spa Day, treatments and lunch for DD and Me annually for her Birthday as she says it’s a treat she looks forward to every February.

Yes these are Bloom and Wild

Yes, flowers are always lovely. A dd once gave me 3 months of Bloom and Wild - they come in a flat box through the letterbox and were always very fresh and lovely.

A very different ‘best’ present was when dh found online copies of 2 treasured books which my mother had unthinkingly got rid of shortly after I went off to university and she was de-cluttering prior to a move.

One of them was an already old and long out of print book given to me by a grandfather in the 60s - published pre 1900, so I was amazed when dh found an identical copy - it could almost have been the same one.
Good old abebooks! - that was where I think he found both of them.

Another from dh was my first pair of lovely sheepskin house boots from Celtic Sheepskin - wonderful for winter - but in that case I’d left a printout on his desk, with size and style clearly circled, to save him racking his brains about what to get me.

The flower and magazine subscriptions both sound brilliant to me! (I was thinking about how much I appreciate receiving "good quality" hand cream.)

They are lovely dragonfly.
I really like a magazine subscription and look forward to getting it each month. It's the gift that keeps giving.

This may have been asked before but what has been your favourite present?

My DD, for my birthday each year buys me a monthly subscription of fresh flowers. They are such a joy throughout the year. These are the latest.
