Good Morning Everyone,
Its a nice dry and bright sunny start here in Brackley this morning.
Today , I will try and get an appointment to have my hair cut in the next few days.
It seems the order of most hairdressers with notices on doors giving details of numbers to book an appointment .
Other than that not allot today .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good Morning everyone from hot, sunny and blue S of ??

Today the weather will be similar to yesterday - 35 by the afternoon. Bit warm for housework but perfect to carry on with laundering the down pillows. Such a chance to get them washed and dried and then tumbled back to their original selves. I love a soft down pillow, me!

Shame that your progress seems slow now Marydoll. Best idea to speak to the medical staff about the meds., you may get it easily sorted out. In the meantime, hope your day is a good one. I’m saying nothing about cooker cleaning ?!! Harri well done for taking action about your hands and so good that you had a bit of sleep. Keep going - I’m sure it can be sorted for you; “they” just need a bit of encouragement/a shove in the backside, perhaps ??

I strolled around my estate/little plot earlier and the Swallowtail butterflies drifted up from my Buddleia like a flock of birds. They’re so beautiful and I feel quite privileged they are always there - and so relaxed about my company.

Beechnut - a pensioner? How is that even possible (I bet you’re wondering). Shame that the actual date you qualify is never the actual date they start making the payments. Think that’s the only thing that triggers the process for them! Still, you’ll be able to look forward to a date nearer ? which will help with the shopping...my Pension was uncomplicated and I waited over 5 months for mine, but of course...... it was backdated ? ??.

Pleased you enjoyed your Cherry Clafoutis, Gingster

Sounds like there’s lots of wild (summer?) weather going on in the UK. Can’t imagine going on a cruise and then having to shelter in a port, Ellan. Shame. My DH just asked me about Ellan Vannin (the place). He was fascinated at the name. The other day, meant to say, I finally listened to Robin Gibb and a church choir singing Ellan Vannin. So pretty for an anthem - especially the twist in the musical arrangement at the end.

NannyT is that dear little hedge pig still camped out in your garden? I suppose it’s the time of year for an invasion of small and vulnerable wild animals. I’ve been following another post on GN where BlueBelle is caring for a baby seagull which arrived down her bedroom chimney! Hilarous - and he keeps having “adventures”. It’s brilliant that our lives can still cross paths with wild animals, even in busy towns.

Off to compose a birthday celebratory mail for a lovely friend in Norfolk who is 90 (going on 65) tomorrow and whose family have planned a surprise and a distanced gathering in his country garden. WE should be there !!!! ?

Well the air conditioning in my study is showing 25 degrees - it will only cope with 10 degrees lowering of heat from the outside temperatures - so I shall move to the other side of the house and start the ironing whilst I still can, I think. Maybe if I dawdle a bit more, it’ll be impossible to even start the ironing......?.

Have a good day, whatever you plan to do. And if you plan to do nothing, enjoy that too. Enjoy all the family hugs and whatever else, please STAY SAFE.

Hugs x

If WASPI succeed in their efforts-court case coming up soon-you ladies “of a certain age” should get your pensions earlier and, who knows, perhaps back pay? Oh look I see a ? flying past!!

Good morning Mick and all x

The clouds seem to be gathering here in S E Essex, covering up most of the blue sky and it is still very breezy.

Not sure what I shall do to keep me out of trouble today ?
DD has managed to get GS into his barbers this morning so they will be round to show us at 5 years old he will not allow anyone other than his barber near his hair.

Happy Birthday tanith ???

Marydoll , harrigran and anyone else in pain I hope you find some relief soon.

Keep safe and well folks ?

Good morning from the NE coast where we have had the fog horn sounding all night . It’s still very dull and breezy, although not as windy as yesterday . One miserable kind of summer this is turning out to be.

I shouldn’t laugh but it was so windy yesterday that the damned huge gazebo erected opposite my DD’s house blew down. It was quite amusing watching them struggle with it and in the end they had no choice but to take it down. I don’t doubt it will be back as soon as the winds drop though. angry

Thinking of all those in pain and suffering including Harri, I’m so glad you managed to get some pain relief and BlueSapphire hope to see her back very soon and Cherrycezzy too . Also continuing to keep CrazyH’s grandson in my thoughts .

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Beechnut enjoy your day and your new status too. flowers

I’m off to “that place” in a few minutes . Going to spend the day chasing quotes up etc. Something must come good soon .

Have a good Monday everyone . Love Gillybob xx

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun was out earlier but has decided it’s not worth the effort, and the wind doesn’t seem to have dropped at all. GS’s school challenge bike ride was cut short yesterday as he had a problem with his back wheel. They were on the trail not far from our house, so he and mum walked his bike back to us across the fields, then DD walked back to finish the ride with SiL back to where they had left the car. GS was happy to help me in the kitchen with lunch - he chops a mean carrot but is over enthusiastic with trimming beans, so we almost ended up with half measures! It was nice to have a meal together at the table again - we have all missed that so much. Not much on the agenda today except trying to dry out the garden seat cushions which were left out all night in the rain because we forgot about them! Have a good safe day folks.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A fairly nice day here so I am swithering about hanging out the washing.
Welcome to the OAP club Beechnut how will you celebrate?
I hope you get proper pain relief today Marydoll and Harrigran

We had a total surprise visit from DD and her family yesterday. Of course it was wonderful but such short notice we had nothing to feed them on as we were just going to have a sandwich for lunch. You forget how much energy those wee bairns have. I am still in recovery. grin

Coffee! what a good idea Justwidowed

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it looks as if it’s brightening up after a wild few days. DH has his blood test today. It should have been done last month but the Dr was only doing urgent tests. The consultant phoned last week asking him why it hadn’t been done. On hearing this the receptionist gave him an appointment for this morning. Later we are going to visit a couple of the children. I will see DS2 who is off shift today and go for a walk with him while DH will pop in on his daughter and also deliver some birthday money for one of the GC. He will then pick me up and we head off to see a widowed friend. She was so glad to see us a few weeks ago as she’s been alone and working from home since March. Hopefully we will be home before midnight! Despite all the visiting it will all be done outside so here’s hoping the weather improves. Take care everyone and stay safe?

benjamina Mon 06-Jul-20 08:45:26

Good morning lovely gransnetters.

Think I am in a different country to everyone else this morning - the sky in the north west has been dark grey for the last hour or so and now the rain is coming down quite hard! No sun for me today.

Weekend seems to have flown past - DS and DiL visited with children 4 & 11 - they are always lively and good to have around. They bought me a wax burning electric lamp - its so beautiful when lit. All jewel colours - think I was a magpie in a previous life!

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Beechnut. I cant wait to get my pension - I felt like it had been stolen away when they increased the age by 6 years.

Working from home today so I had better do just that and make a start!

Sending good wishes to all who are struggling with worries and pain x

Kalu Mon 06-Jul-20 08:36:27

Marydoll Hope you can enjoy your empty and also manage to speak to your RA nurse who will tell you how you are feeling is due to your treatment and not, fingers crossed, an allergic reaction. You have been through so much to get to this stage and I hope you hear some positive news from the medics.?

Grandmabatty Mon 06-Jul-20 08:33:16

Good morning all and Mick! Bright, breezy and cool here in Polmont. Yesterday was mainly miserable and I was miserable along with the weather. I managed to spill a cup of tea over a bookcase, wall and flooring. Fortunately I got it all mopped up but was cursing my clumsiness. My right hand and arm ached very badly yesterday with what I assumed is arthritis and probably brought on by the damp weather. The joys of getting older. Mick, I hope you get your haircut sorted, marydoll I hope you get those side effects sorted too. I suspect you are being very stoic. Urmston gran, have a lovely beach day. I'm off later to do a babysitting stint which is just so enjoyable. Toast beckons with some raspberry jam I made yesterday. I hope everyone has a good day.

Justwidowed Mon 06-Jul-20 08:28:15

Good morning Mick and everyone. A fine but blustery day here in Lancashire. Sorry to hear you're still in a lot of pain MARYDOLL I do hope a phone call to both the hospital and GP will move things forward and you get some relief from pain. Hope you get some relief as well HARRIGRAN,if it is gout then allopurinol is the answer. My husband took it for over 20years and never had a flare up.
Congratulations BEECHNUT. It's a good club to join ,many advantages but mainly money, you too URMSTONGRAN join the club.
Once again my coffee has gone cold while I m reading Gransnet .Thank God for microwaves.Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Mon 06-Jul-20 08:22:48

Posted too soon. Have a painfree, restful, pleasant day to all. ?

EllanVannin Mon 06-Jul-20 08:22:19

Good Morning All x-----It isn't with the weather, it's disgusting
Winds/gales all day yesterday and through the night and this morning still, as I write. I'm not liking it one bit.

I was reading that a cruise ship which is in Liverpool can't sail out because of the winds. It's the Viking Sun and those on board have to stay put while the ship is sheltering.
That sea is rough ! Full breakfast with fatty bacon anyone ? grin

Thinking of Harrigran's pain is one my mum used to have if it's gout as I remember her nearly in tears with the pain. I hope it eases for you (((hugs )))----blow the distance !

A possible visit from D today after she's dropped the children off and hopefully give me an update on how things are going on the home-front. I know she'll be having the builders in at some point as it's been a waiting game for her.

I should do some washing but it's not worth it if it can't be hung out, at the moment it's only the wind that's keeping the rain away as the sky's looking heavy so I'll sort the stack of papers ready for shedding. Where do they all come from ?

I hope Marydoll can be sorted with her medication as sometimes the side-effects can be worse than the problem itself. I know what adverse effects can be like, not nice.

Thoughts to everyone with problems of sorts. I hope the day is kind to everyone so stay safe and well xx

Gingster Mon 06-Jul-20 08:22:01

Good morning all from sunny Suffolk by the sea. Still breezy but not quite so bad. The wind bent my whirly gig washing line yesterday so the top was lying in the ground. It had towels on it , so I think they acted like sails and the force just bent it. ?

We keep looking around the garden for a ‘sheltered ‘ spot to plant my new cystis bush. We don’t have a sheltered spot.! I must find somewhere as my lovely brother bought it for me.

My Clafoutis cherry pie turned out a winner. Never made it before and will certainly make it again. Thanks again for that idea ??.

Ive got a ticket booked for the cinema on Wednesday, but I’m becoming more and more uncertain Whether to go. ?. I’m would be going alone (no-one would come with me) , so I wouldn’t be letting anyone down if I don’t go. I’m still prevaricating! ?. Would you ?
MARYDOLL, you don’t sound yourself at all. Get some advice and help and hopefully they will have an answer for you. ? keep your chin up. ?

HARRIGRAN your poor hands. It must be so wearing to have that pain constantly. Hopefully the new meds will relieve you. Give URMSTONGRANS allopurinol a go. ?

BEECHNUT join the merry throng. ?.

Good morning from sunny, breezy Colchester. The wind is not as strong as yesterday but my robot hoover is currently sweeping up the seeds that blew in through the open windows last night.
Loads of laundry today after having our DGSs stay for the weekend.

Urmstongran Mon 06-Jul-20 08:19:48

Beechnut ?

Good morning from a sunny, blue skies and dry but chilly day in Glasgow which means we can have a garden visit from DD1 and the girls later today. I can’t wait for GD2 to jump out of the car for a cuddle. Hoping it’s not too long until we can all have a cuddle.

Thankfully the flare up in my shoulder has calmed down and I can miss out the need for stronger painkillers which leave me feeling I have had a night on the tiles but without the fun.

Some gentle gardening today and potting up some rocket and tomato plants for the girls to take home.

A specially good morning to you BlueSapphire and all who are having difficult times feeling down, I wish you a better, more positive day.

mancgirl Mon 06-Jul-20 08:16:09

Good morning from a sunny lake district. Rain overnight but sunny day predicted. It has felt very odd going to stay anywhere after lockdown. Drove into Bowness on the way here expecting it to be busy but very quiet. Chanced having a drink in a bar. Very vigilant staff, we felt completely safe. Probably because only about 3 tables in. The staff expected it to be much busier. The ferry boat company had lines fenced off but no one waiting to board. Perhaps the weather kept people away. Hotel staff are trying hard but impossible to maintain distance when serving meals. Doesn't feel completely relaxed but lovely to have food prepared for us! Making our way back today but will have a stroll after breakfast first. Have a good day everyone. (((hugs))) for those who need one flowersfor those with extra cares and worries.

Beechnut Mon 06-Jul-20 08:15:53

No, it’s not my birthday Puzzler. Just my pension start time day.

Beechnut Mon 06-Jul-20 08:13:46

I don’t get any money for a few weeks yet Urmston probably get it the same time as you. It’s just that today is from when it starts. ?

Brunette10 Mon 06-Jul-20 08:11:44

Good Morning everyone from a bright Fife, still quite airy though. Marydoll feel for you with everything you are going through, hopefully you will get some re-assurance from the Medicals, just keep going smile. Beechnut nice feeling, just enjoy your hard earned cash, we've all waited too long. Not sure what plans we have today, may venture out for some supplies but there again may not. Days are still flying past though, not sure how everyone else feels but time is whizzing by. Hope everyone looks after themselves, keep safe.

Puzzler61 Mon 06-Jul-20 08:06:43

Good morning Mick and All from a sunny, breezy, dry start to the week.

Does that mean it’s your Birthday Beechnut? If so, A Very Happy Birthday to You ? ? ? ,
and to tanith who’s also a Birthday Girl today ???

Marydoll I wish you good luck with seeking advice from those medics. Your new medication and their side-effects should be monitored in these early weeks. I hope you get somewhere with it. Please let us know. ?

Pants are you in Espania lovely Senorita? Have you recovered from the flight. I hope the experience was okay or better than that. It has got to be worth it as you’re now in the land of Sangria with Urmston. ?

Mick, I’m glad you’re making your hair appointment - I guess the clippers you bought will go on e-bay now? My DH is going to his ‘clip joint’ tomorrow so I think his will also become redundant. ?

Adios Grans, I’m off to get Weetabix and blueberries now - my tummy tells me my fast needs to break!

Have a busy or lazy, safe day, and to all with worries, sadness or pain I hope you can find something of comfort to do today. ?

Mythbirtthedragon Mon 06-Jul-20 07:59:01

Good morning from east London, bright and sunny outside, wind seems to have dropped a bit. Jumble trail yesterday wasn’t very exciting but it did get me out for a decent walk and several chats. Tennis at lunchtime today; before I go, I’ll put a beef curry for DP and DS in the slow cooker. Haven’t done one before but have had a request and there’s some meat to use up. Two weeks until I have a haircut and I can retire the clips again.
Have a good day

Good morning, the sun is shining in Essex by the sea today.
We've had a busy weekend. Saturday we picked up our new computer and printer and spent some time setting them up. It's lovely having a fast computer unlike my old one which had become very slow.
Yesterday we visited DH's eldest daughter and spent time playing with the 6 year old and 3 year old twins. We then had an invite to visit friends in their new upstairs conservatory. Walls of glass with wonderful views of the sea.
Nothing much planned today.
Have a pleasant day and stay safe xx
