Haircut this week, hurrah!

I never go to a hairdresser but I was pleased yesterday for a visit by my chiropodist. My toe nails were beginning to catch in the carpet and a corn was very painful.
She wore full PPI and I sat by the open window.

I’ve got mine booked for next Thursday! It’s usually a short pixie cut, but I’ve been trimming it every few weeks with thinning scissors during lockdown, and I’ve been really pleased with the results! Still, can’t wait to go back to my shorter style.

And to those who are going to embrace the grey - go for it! I went grey 20years ago, best thing I ever did, as it’s such a lovely silver. Think of the money you’ll save...

My at-home appointment isn't due till the end of this month, when my lovely mobile hairdresser will arrive fully kitted with PPE, sanitizer etc....

I've had enough of looking like the love-child of Boris Johnson and Camilla Parker Bowles!

After seeing the queue in town yesterday, and the frantic cutting and snipping within, l am definately in no hurry to go anywhere near one of those places yet!
Hair is clean, coloured and long. Happy with that.

Booked for next Monday.
Now I’m wondering if I should take my own towel with me,
Can’t stand the thought of someone else having used it, clean or not clean. Obviously, it didn’t bother me before this virus.
I don’t want to offend the poor woman by suggesting it.
Starting to feel nervous now.

My mobile hairdresser called this morning and cut and highlighted my hair.
She has to take her own temperature daily, take the temperature of each customer. Wash her hands using sanitiser, provide disposable capes, sterilise her equipment each time used, and wear a face shield.
After all this - glad that my hair is looking much better, and done in a completely safe way.

Thanks for the tips tabbycat, I shall have a good chat with my hairdresser and gradually work in my grey. Don't worry hollysteers I don't intend to end up as what my late DM called 'cauliflower heads', all white and curled

31 July. How will I survive ?

My hat off to all ladies who during this long lock down have been so patient,I cant imagine not having a hair cut for so long.The country where we live have not closed much thank goodness, so I have had my hair cut three times during your lock down, I havent dared mention this earlier,thought I might get beheaded.
Enjoy your hairdressers everyone,and feel like humans again.

What a shame that a visit to the hairdresser is now more like a hospital appointment. Never liked going anyhow but have found one I like who is very busy and doesn’t take much notice of me, which I like. Don’t like fuss. Would like to leave my head behind and pick it up later?
In the meantime am growing it and like it, with root spray until I get round to a visit. Don’t fancy doing my own highlights!
DONT GO GREY GALS ? There are too many snow caps around and we all end up looking the same, no offence. For most women it’s extremely ageing.
If the salon is too expensive, grab a box of colour.??

I have longish curly hair so have let it grow with the occasional trim I’ve done myself. I’m going to leave it and see if hairdresser salons cause virus spikes. If they don’t I will have it done before going on holiday in August ( in the U.K.)

My daughter has a salon and cuts and colours mine every 4 weeks.
Unfortunately we’re in the Leicester Lockdown so mine will have to wait.
It’s never looked this bad but I’ve no choice.
My daughter was so upset she can’t reopen, she’s worked so hard making sure everything is just right, new screens and signs plus of course all the PPE.
Fingers crossed we don’t have lockdown extended again.

Ah Joanmac so glad you found out how lovely your own hair colour is, one benefit to lockdown at least. Unfortunately I can't even wear grey clothes as they 'wash me out' so looking forward to a colour soon. But, yes, I'm waiting until Aug when I can resume real life. I'm a bit puzzled about nail bars though - our lovely ladies are kitted out with screens to poke your hands through, sanitizer, visors, masks and gloves but they aren't allowed to open yet, what's that about?

I too have an appointment booked with normal hairdresser at her home. I've been using her for the last 6 years and do like her doing my hair. However she has decided to increase all her prices by a whopping 30% for some reason. I have to say I'm not too happy with that amount of an increase and I can honestly say not sure how she has measured the increase. Her normal annual rise is around 10% which has already taken place this year. I have decided to go as scheduled on 17th July and I shall make up my mind then if I should start going back to a salon and at least feel I'm being given a lit bit of pampering. Interested to see if anyone else has had this large increase.

I have to wait until nearly August for my cut and blow dry despite having an appointment for lock down week. Really looking forward to it, just a small surcharge of £1.50 to cover PPE and alterations to the salon which is OK by me. I'm really pleased I stop dyeing my hair two years ago. Its saved me a fortune.

Off topic here as I colour my hair myself and the trim can wait but I'm looking forward to the dentist on Friday!

I went to the hairdressers yesterday and had decided to carry on growing out my colour. Was told that people with salt and pepper grey with curly hair looked like a little old lady Didn’t make me feel good. Didn’t really enjoy the experience - mine cost £37 for a cut and blow. X

My hairdresser is mobile and I've had no word yet of when he will be allowed to come. He has about 100 clients waiting to be done so I'll have to wait my turn no doubt. I do hope its not too long though.

I'm going at 2:30 this afternoon. Yipee, I'll be back to my normal cropped pixie cut, instead of having to wear a side parting to keep my hair off my face, and very straggly sides and back.

I did cut my fringe myself some weeks ago.

I have to wear a mask, and take nothing with me.

I've got my mobile hairdresser coming tomorrow morning - and like everybody else on here, there's 5 months worth of chopping, as opposed to the usual 6 weeks. It's currently too long for me to attempt to blow-dry and too heavy to hold any kind of 'shape' even with a good dose of hairspray to try to hold it in place.

I normally keep my hair VERY short and manageable, but at the moment I look like something the cat dragged through a hedge backwards.

Tomorrow, I'll be a happy, smiley Ollie :-).

I'm certainly not in any rush!! I'm still sheilding till the end of the month and even then I'm going to be so careful. I've quite liked mine as it's grown. Unsure whether to embrace the grey or not but bought a colour which Mr BA will do for me if and when

Had mine done yesterday. My lovely lady comes to my house. She wore a visor, sanitised instruments before and after and used disposable apron. Feel amazing! I keep my hair short as it is very thick and wavy and the waves at the back of my head were forming little tiny 'shelves' as my son put it!

I’m quite envious of you ladies all going for hair cuts, as I’m high risk I won’t be going as I’m high risk so I’m going to have to put up with mine for many more weeks ??

I am having a haircut tomorrow. He is coming to my home.
I had it cut back in early Feb -first haircut since chemo ended.
I am keeping it short - no bother style - wash and leave. It has thickened up considerably, is now growing very quickly, and I am happy with it for the first time in my life. Am so looking forward to tomorrow.

Can I also recommend you invest in some shampoo/conditioner/mousse for silver hair? I was worried when I went grey that my hair would become coarse and dry, but needn't have worried. I also use a brightening shampoo once a fortnight.
