The overflow, I meant.

Don't forget to cover the air-space holes near the taps when you use the plunger or you'll be fighting a losing battle.

Thanks everyone think I might need a plumber but I will have another go plunging first

If you do the wire coat hanger thing (lucky you - yes I was one of the ones who said they enjoy it!) twist it around when it's down the plug hole and this catches more hair and gunge.
Good Luck!

Sorry ‘unblocker’

Nortsat Mon 27-Jul-20 10:32:37

Mr Muscle Sink unblocked works a treat.

Good luck ...

The sink unblocker products work well. The bathroom ones dissolve hair and the kitchen ones work on grease. I have used the Mr Muscle one, which did the job.
Good luck!

Remove water bit by big
Have a poke round with wire might be hair and come straight out
Soda crystals or some other commercial product

Drain buster.
Put in, leave rinse after an hour or so.
Cheaper than a plumber.

I'd be very cautious about trying to unblock it with a crochet hook or a straightened coat hanger. I tried it with a knitting needle and punctured the pipe underneath, causing a leak that penetrated through to the kitchen. Luckily I realised what I had done and quickly put the plug in and called the plumber who arrived surprisingly quickly.

Sorry pointless unhelpful post. I think I’ll report myself.

My son is a world expert on unblocking plug holes as his wife has incredibly long back hair which moulds everywhere !!

Luckygirl Mon 27-Jul-20 09:26:53

When my shower does this it is because leaves are blocking the water trap on the outside wall - have you anything similar where you are?

Maggiemaybe Mon 27-Jul-20 09:23:14

There are some really cheap long flexible wire gadgets on the market for dragging up the gunge. The sort of thing you wish you’d got already when you have a problem.

In fact, I’m off to order one now, just in case. It’ll probably cost about £1.50 and take six weeks to get here from Beijing.

I find a long crochet hook is good for fishing up the awful debris. Do I recall on another thread someone said they actually enjoyed doing this? shock

MawB Mon 27-Jul-20 08:54:23

Have you tried the unbent wire coat hanger thing to dislodge what is probably an accumulation of hair and soap?
Our girls used to refer to the black slime which came out as “dead kittens”

aggie Mon 27-Jul-20 08:51:06

Is it full of water ? If you can get the water mostly out of it soda crystals can melt the obstruction , personally I would ring a Plumber

Nanderin Mon 27-Jul-20 08:48:20

My bath tub plug hole is blocked plunging hasn't worked.
