I’m here soop better late than never as they say. Nerves are only to be expected but you just tell the surgeon you have the might of GN behind you and the kitcheners will deal with her if she doesn’t treat you kindly and well, hope the pre-op goes well and the op appointment is fixed soon.
susan your DD must be exhausted. Henry is certainly keeping her on the go. He’s a lovely little chap.
Synonymous glad to hear your DH is getting on better with his new leg. ?

silverlining48 Mon 31-Aug-20 17:15:23

Soop Hope you get a date soon. Good luck tomorrow.

Synonymous Mon 31-Aug-20 17:14:55

Ooh soop, I am not sure I would want to watch that if I was going to be the patient, you are braver than I am Gungadin! Having said all that you clearly have great confidence in the surgeon and that is a huge plus. We will keep you in our prayers that it will make a wonderful difference to your life going forward. flowers xx

I think a wee party when that wee bit of paper arrives would certainly put the icing on the cake! I don't think we should hold our breath though because if this stage follows the pattern of the rest then it could take a while! hmm

soop Mon 31-Aug-20 17:01:50

It has been a beautiful, sunny day in bonnie Kintyre. MacS is in the garden. He knows the rules. Every so often I rap on the window and look stern. He pays no heed. The quilted bedcover has dried and there is no stain remaining. I shall recover it and the ironing board can be used as I need to iron the cotton bedlinen.

Thank you all for your company. I intend being with you again sometime tomorrow. Although it isn't a Bank Holiday in Scotland, MacS seems to think otherwise. He tends to bend the rules to his own liking. wink smile moon

soop Mon 31-Aug-20 16:32:54

I have watched the surgery that I shall have on You Tube. It hasn't made me any more anxious. It certainly is a skillful undertaking, and I am reassured that the lady surgeon who will do the deed is one of the best.

soop Mon 31-Aug-20 16:30:14

Synonymous When your cheque arrives, shall we have a wee party? Nothing too rowdy...just joyful enough to raise a few cheers and smiles.

Synonymous Mon 31-Aug-20 15:25:53

It has been so nice to have some interaction today, I think the pair of us have been under such pressure and tension that I just couldn't post or do anything much for quite a while as I was feeling quite unwell and, when you think about it, very often you don't realise how these things are affecting you until they are gone. We now know the legal stuff is finished but it all seems very unreal at present because, although Himself has signed all the papers, we are waiting for the cheque to arrive and I suppose that will be the visible evidence. Why do we need to see before we believe? Perhaps that is a very deep and profound discussion starter! smile

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Aug-20 14:39:57

Susan56 young Henry is gorgeous, definitely got that mischievous look ??

soop Mon 31-Aug-20 14:38:30

Dear You lovely lot, thank you for being here. Phone call to tell me that the assessment will be tomorrow. Surgery is usually within six weeks. We shall see.

Synonymous Safe travels to the big smoke. You are two amazing peoples. smile

Susan If I could step in and play with not-so-little Henry I would gladly do so. He is fabulous little trooper.

kitty I've missed you. Don't go too far. x

Grandmabatty and GrannyGravy Shall we share the muffins and blether for a wee while. wink

I managed to fall asleep while reading late at night. I had half a cup full of tea in my hand. I soaked sheets and heavy bedcover. The cover just about fitted into the washing machine and has washed well. So, how to dry it. We remembered that we had a garment rail in the loft...in several pieces. Putting it together made us laugh so much, I honestly thought that I might wet myself (but didn't). We assembled it in about twenty minutes. Took it and the ironing board out into the garden. Draped the bedspread over both. Sun is shining. A clever notion on my MacS's part. grin

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Aug-20 14:37:59

I started keeping a diary on the day we went into lockdown, which was five days before PM announced the U.K. wide one.
It is Day 160, not sure I have achieved all I set out to do, but something's have been sorted and done.

Having a lazy afternoon, now DD and baby have left (they had a sleepover here last night).

I will try and read all the posts that I have missed.

TOYA ?

Charleygirl5 Mon 31-Aug-20 14:35:33

soop the very best of luck for Tuesday. MacS really must look after himself because otherwise who is going to look after you? Hopefully, it will soon be over and done with very soon.

Synonymous pleased I could be of some help. Even if it is just a few free trips to a supermarket it does not matter, the money is rightfully yours.

Susan young Henry is definitely a minx, but a delightful one- I can see it in his lovely eyes. That is a good idea to slowly separate him from his mum and he knows you so well so with luck it should not be so traumatic for him.
TOYA

Synonymous Mon 31-Aug-20 14:28:50

Susan Henry looks gorgeous and as if he is a real handful - keep taking the vitamins!
We have a garage to empty as part of the 'build' but fortunately not too much sorting to be done as we did that before the crash. I have to pack up the kitchen too but have no idea for how long we will need to camp. Hope we will be able to at least eat out for our main meal for the duration as we can picnic for the other meals. Not going to think too far ahead at present as "sufficient unto the day.........." shock

Synonymous Mon 31-Aug-20 14:17:04

Dear soop all will be fine! So glad that they are getting on with helping you to enjoy life more and that you are not having to travel too far this time.

We are shortly off to the big smoke again so that Himself can get a 'service' on his newest leg. This one is so much better thankfully and there is less damage to his flesh when he wears it than there was with the previous ones as time seems to have reduced the swelling. I seem to be managing the journeys better now and I am amazed and thankful for that. I don't know how MacS does that journey to the big smoke both ways in a single day - he is a treasure! smile

Susan56 Mon 31-Aug-20 14:16:18

Crossed posts Synonomous.I would definitely go and check the colours. It will be brilliant having the wet room finished from a safety point of view and will be one job ticked off the list.

I can imagine the pantomime with the mouse??I am following DH round closing doors as i am sure all the little creatures will be looking for a winter home?

Susan56 Mon 31-Aug-20 14:09:54

I’m here soop??‍♀️

I agree with grannygravy, nerves are to be expected but hopefully the surgery will improve things.

We’ve spent the last couple of days working in the garden as the weather has been lovely.Tomorrow the great garage clear out will continue. So far three car loads have gone to the tip,DD2 has reclaimed one car boot full and the wheelie bin was also filled.Still a way to go but it is looking slightly better!

DD1 has managed to extend her maternity leave so won’t be going back until January now.We have offered to have Henry a few hours one day a week to get him used to being away from her and to give her a few hours to herself. He hasn’t slept more than two hours at a time since he was born and not surprisingly she is exhausted.I will attach his eleven month picture for you.I think you can see the mischief?

Thank you everyone for acknowledging the latest milestone, it is a really big thing off our minds now. Obviously lots more to deal with but there is now so much less uncertainty.
Thank you Charleyg we looked back on some of our emails and found a 'disabled certificate' which we can print out and give to tradesmen so that we can have the goods/services either vat free or reduced so that will indeed be a saving. It had quite slipped past us that we could copy and use it.

Apparently the new problem will be in actually getting the consumables like plastic, glass and particulatly plaster or plasterboard due to the factory closures during lockdown. I think it will be spring before we have a start date for the link extension. The shortages are increased because people have spent so much more time at home and worked out what will be a good improvement that will help them enjoy and make the most of what they have. It will all make work for the working man to do so is clearly a good thing all round in the end.

The making of our ensuite into a wetroom is due to be done by the end of September so that will the first milestone and will make it so much safer for Himself. We chose the colours such a long time ago that I feel the need to go and check that it is what we still want! confused

I was sitting in my armchair yesterday when out of the corner of my eye I became conscious of a mouse jumping about underneath the cat tree where Smokie was sleeping. I woke him up but he was not in the least bit interested in dealing with it almost as if he was letting me know that outside was his territory and indoors was mine! You should have seen the ensuing pantomime as we tried to catch it which ended with Himself using one of his crutches like a snooker cue to pin it against the skirting board and I used the 'helping hand' to get hold of it and take it outside. Smokie was told that the next one is his job! They are starting to come in for the winter early this year.
It is a bit autumnal now and I even put a lightweight throw on our bed last night. I slept really well so it obviously helped.

So many posts to which I am not even going to attempt a reply except to send hugs and flowers and let you know that I am truly TOYA.smile

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Aug-20 13:39:27

soop nerves are to be expected, hopefully you will come out of surgery a new women ??

Grandmabatty Mon 31-Aug-20 13:37:53

Soop I've just made banana muffins and they are very nice, if I say so myself. I'll bring you some to take your mind off next week ?

kittylester Mon 31-Aug-20 13:37:09

I'm here soop. I have been keeping an eye on you all but didn't have the brain power to post.

I must do better.

In case I dont get back......

Just to say, good luck for your op, do you have a date yet?

And, I hope MacS is recovering from his mishap.

Loving that whopping baby.

Hopefully back soon but TOYA anyway.

soop Mon 31-Aug-20 13:28:28

Where be you all? I need your company, please. Appointment for pre-op assessment next Tuesday. Feeling a tad nervy at the thought of the drop bot surgery to follow.

soop Sun 30-Aug-20 17:24:31

I am about to log off until tomorrow. Time to read the Sunday paper and enjoy a nice cup of tea. Looking forward to an even more delicious G&T mid evening.

Take very good care of yourselves. I look forward to our next gathering in the kitchen. smile moon

Doodle Sun 30-Aug-20 16:21:11

Thanks soop. Photo of your son and his grandson is lovely. He has every right to look proud ?
Hope you had a good lunch charley
Izabella as always your posts are a delight to read.
TOYA ?

Charleygirl5 Sun 30-Aug-20 16:12:56

soop grandfather looks very pleased holding young Toby.

Now that the evenings are colder, Tara is not staying out very late. I watched her climb over my 6 foot fence yesterday- she is fleet of foot for a 16 year old.

I had lunch out in a restaurant today- the first since March. The menu was greatly reduced but it was well managed.

soop Sun 30-Aug-20 15:54:55

Izabella I love reading your posts. Your words transport me to where you are and what you are seeing. Thank you. Also, may I congratulate you on the splendid anti pigeon crop protection gizmo. Neat! Perfect for the purpose.

Lovely to have you with us again, Doodle. I hope that whatever buggerations were blighting your life recently are beginning to sort themselves out.

Charleyg is our Tara behaving herself? I would enjoy having another cat to pamper. However, it seems unlikely, unless a stray happened to wander into the garden. If that happened, it would be offered a home in the blink of an eye.

Susan Family milestones are very precious happenings. Even more so when you can play an active role. You are truly blest.

soop Sun 30-Aug-20 14:04:45

Have a few jobs to attend to. I intend returning thereafter.
I'll share photo of son, Tim, (father of Toby's mummy) because he looks mighty pleased with himself.

Back as soon as .
