A lovely wee boy, callgirl. Our Max was once that size. Now he 12 and bigger every time I see him - likely to prove useful in a rugby scrum!

Hellogirl1 Mon 24-Aug-20 18:02:25

Anno, Grace`s big brother is a Max! Here he is.

annodomini Mon 24-Aug-20 18:00:42

Oh poor MacS. I hope you've wrapped him in cotton wool, Soop. You're a right pair, aren't you! I'd forgotten that McS is almost my twin. I will raise a glass to him on my 80th!
You think your shed is bad. You should (or not) see mine. I hadn't been in there for a while and found everything festooned with ivy which has forced its way in through a gap in the window frame. Very spooky indeed, though the spiders, if any, were hiding.

soop Mon 24-Aug-20 17:26:22

Grandmabatty I'm sure that you find something entertaining to do with your wee grandson. Perhaps he could "tidy" a drawer. And then, of course, you have to be certain that before he does, there is nothing that he might wish to pop into his mouth, chew on, etc. It can be a nightmare to monitor a little person who is curious about whatever he holds. You need eyes in the back of your head. smile

We've had a cup of tea on the terrace. MacS's blood stained peeked hat is in soak. Hey ho!

It's a lovely end of afternoon in bonnie Kintyre. Tomorrow, the funeral of the youngish lady who died recently, is to be held in the village. Residents will line the route from her home to the church in a socially distanced manner.

Baby is due to be born tomorrow. However, as we're all aware, babies arrive when they are good and ready. wink

My thoughts are with you all. Thank you for your company. smile moon

Our shed sounds more like yours than Charley’s soop.Maybe we should swap Charley and I could sort your house and you sort our shed? The garage hasn’t been sorted as DH decided he needed to clear the shed first to put things from the garage in it?We have found the girls PE bags and tennis rackets and a big box of stickle bricks which must be 30 years old.The grandchildren will be very happy when they see them.

My husband favours dettol soop.I always know he has injured himself when the smell of dettol permeates the house.Hope MacS’s injuries heal quickly??

Glad the haircut went well Charley??‍♀️

Am going to go and help put most of the contents of the shed back now??‍♀️

TOYA

Oh soop, what is it with men who are so much younger in their thoughts and forget their body has raced on ahead? Mr C is the same. Definitely bad for the blood pressure. I’m pleased macs has seen the error of his ways, hope the injuries heal quickly. A hug for you both.

Grandmabatty Mon 24-Aug-20 16:52:17

Soop the sunsets are beautiful. Thank you for sharing. The white wine was indeed 'cheeky' ?. What is your dh up to? Goodness! At least he has stopped and hopefully you can relax a bit. I'm having a wee rest. I live having my dgs but he's a live wire! And he's too wee to be left unsupervised at any point. Today's game was switching my lights on and off. He loved that. I had to hold him of course so no wonder I have a sore neck. Then we discovered a lovely park and he had a great time. Tomorrow is to be awful weather so I'll have to find things to do at home.

Dearest Doodle We are here whenever you wish to have company. flowers

Nannyt The last thing you need right now is Storm Francis. flowers

Charleyg May we have a pic of the new hair-do sometime soon?

I looked through the window. I saw MacSporran with a chain saw and he was cutting a tall hedge down to a low level. Heart in mouth, I started to do the ironing. Door opens. MacS goes for the TCP. Heart sinks again. He has really done his arm a mischief. A falling branch has skinned an area of about five inches of skin and it was bleeding profusely. Heart sank, again. I patched him up with a proper dressing and bandage. He looked sheepish. About five minutes later, he went into the utility room and I knew (without asking) that he had hurt himself yet again. I investigated. He looked doubly sheepish. He had tripped and the top of his head (badly scarred due to having a recent zapping) was cut and bleeding. I attended to it and barely said a word. He then said that he realised he was unable to continue with the job. I hugged him long and hard. He's 80 in November. He has underlying health issues. He wants to feel useful. I have told him that he matters and the garden can wait. We'll try to find an odd-jobber in the village who would be willing to finish off the hedge cutting. He is such a lovely man.

There was sufficient hair chopped off today to make a wig- I have/had a lot of hair so my head is feeling the wind now. My hairdresser did not make any rude comments about my superb attempts cutting it myself.

I am working downwards, eyebrows and then feet.

The sun is gorgeous here- we have been so lucky. I would not mind a sprinkle so I do not have to water my plants later.

Doodle Mon 24-Aug-20 14:08:51

Dear soop and grandmafrench thank you for your kind thoughts. I am still here. Something happened at the weekend that shook me up a bit. Things have resolved somewhat so I am hoping all will be well but I am not quite myself at the moment so not posting as much.
I have read all the posts and looked at the lovely pictures of sunsets, little ones and ,...cake. ?
Sorry can’t reply to all but I am TOYA. ?

Nannytopsy Mon 24-Aug-20 13:45:57

I hope there aren’t any spiders in that shed Soop! Isn’t Grace just beautiful?!
The guest has gone home!! I have collected today’s 7 bags of dog poo from the lawn and we are calming down ?. We are worried about her mental health but not sure what we can do at a distance for someone who thinks this is normal behaviour.
We have alpacas in the village N&G who can be visited. It’s on our list of GC entertainments.
Well, a bit of planting this afternoon and washing to dry before Storm Francis arrives. Stay safe everyone!

soop Mon 24-Aug-20 13:42:47

Grandmabatty Was it a "cheeky" white wine that you enjoyed? That particular reference always amuses me. grin

soop Mon 24-Aug-20 13:40:01

anno the time spent with your family, sounds idyllic. It is a joy to share precious time but, the empty aftermath can be difficult. We are still having to wait. It's well over a year since our last family gathering. I just keep thinking...what really matters is that they are safe and thriving. Our time will come.

Grandmafrench Now I'm concerned for Doodle. I did search through other forums and found the message that you refer to.

Good afternoon my lovelies. It is a glorious day. Bright sunshine with a mere whisper of a breeze. There was a heron standing on the shoreline. By the time MacS went across to take a photo, he/she had moved on.

Let me start with the photos. Hellogirl1 little Grace is beautiful and she definitely has your lovely eyes.
NanaandGrampy, I was cheered to see a post and pics from you. Your darling grandsons will have had the time of their lives on holiday with you. Alpacas are such sweet natured animals. I loved Cooper's comment.

NannyT Oh dear! You will have been sorely tempted to speak your mind. If you can hold on just a wee bit longer...we'll all nominate for a sainthood. wink

Susan Long ago, I had high hopes of having a dear little shed (all to myself) like Chaleyg's - with appropriate shelving and a place to sit on a garden chair as I supped a brew. I even imagined a potted geranium on the window ledge. Dream on...our shed is cluttered, festooned with cobwebs, a hell hole in the making. I no longer look let alone venture inside. grin

Last night's wotsit...

NanaandGrampy Mon 24-Aug-20 12:54:33

Afternoon all !

Grace is adorable Hellogirl - I am sure she gets it from her Nana !! Here, I take credit for everything good and its Grampy's fault if they have naughty traits ;-)

When we saw the Queen of the Universe in late July Anno I was surprised to find she was almost taller than me .. No idea what happened to the little dot she used to be :-)

Charley we bought them alpaca books before we went so they were able to read up a bit but the man in charge was so nice and made it all child friendly. Mind you on the way there Cooper aged 6 asked where alpaca came from - Grampy replied, 'South America' . There was a little pause before Cooper replied' We're not driving all the way there are we??' :-)

Must work on his geography !!

NannyT your SiL is a bit....... tried to find a nice word and failed !! When do they go home?

We are feeling semi human again - its amazing how guests for the first time in months take it out of you .

Hope everyone has a little sunshine in their day today x

annodomini Mon 24-Aug-20 10:12:49

Callgirl, what a lovely wee girl Grace is. I'd been hoping that my fifth GC would be Grace but turned out to be Max! All my GC tower above me except for my almost 18-year-old GD who is petite with a big personality.

Charleygirl5 Mon 24-Aug-20 09:35:37

Susan I am so proud of my garden shed- it is virtually empty and what is there is so tidy. Such a pity the house is not the same. I can but dream.

Susan56 Mon 24-Aug-20 09:04:19

Beautiful photos of the children and a lovely photo of you with Grace callgirl?

Nannytopsy?you have been the perfect hosts to your SIL but she does sound hard work?

We have completed sorting the house out so today the big garage sort out starts. There are boxes at the back that have not been opened since we moved here 14 years ago.I know that DH will want to go through every item. Its going to be a long job!

Have a good day all!

Charleygirl5 Mon 24-Aug-20 09:00:31

Hellogirl that young lady is beautiful and the lady holding her is not so bad herself! So pleased you had a lovely time- the sun was shining here as it is today.

N&G my heart goes out to the long suffering alpacas but the boys enjoyed themselves as well as learning about the animals although they possibly did not know it. One can mix fun and education. Lovely you all enjoyed yourselves.

Sam will be enjoying the cooler weather- Tara certainly is.

Nannytopsy Mon 24-Aug-20 00:28:09

Another crawl into bed! Sis IL is an arachnophobe. We have had two full on panic attacks and she is refusing to go to bed. This woman is 60!!
I have given up and come to bed grin

Hellogirl1 Mon 24-Aug-20 00:03:07

Ha-ha Ann, would that Grace did take after me, because that would make me lovely as well! No, she is the image of her mum.
Oh, OK then, here`s the one with me on it, see what I mean Ann?

annsixty Sun 23-Aug-20 23:55:04

What a beautiful child Grace is Hellogirl what a shame we didn’t see you as I am sure she takes after you.
I love to see all the GC and GGC on here, they are all so lovely, I look forward to soops new GGC to add to the portrait gallery.

Hellogirl1 Sun 23-Aug-20 23:14:43

Lovely pics N&G, of a lovely time.
Soop, our get together did happen, started off hot and sunny, but at 4pm the heavens opened, and the rain came down in stair rods, plus the wind blew a hooley! My grandson borrowed a very large gazebo off his girlfriend`s dad, just in case, for which we were all very grateful. It was lovely to see Max and Grace again, especially Grace, she`s almost 6 months now, she was 3 days old last time I saw her.
I`m posting a pic, but will spare you the one of me!

NanaandGrampy Sun 23-Aug-20 20:57:03

Evening all from the wilds of Norfolk.

We are recovering from a fabulous week with the little boys that included wild swimming, chips at the beach ( which was very quiet) and an amazing evening learning about and then taking some very chilled alpaca for a walk .

I hope all are well here although I noticed a post on this page about falls so hope no one is badly injured .

I’ll leave you with a pic or two.

Soop are we still waiting for the new baby?

Grandmafrench Sun 23-Aug-20 19:08:27

Fabulous.......people are finally relaxing!

(I wonder if in another life, I may have been a sheepdog ?)
