Goodmorning all, please forgive the early drop in. I have a crazy day ahead moving my 90yr old mother from the village into town a few miles away. A lovely sheltered with care unit awaits her, the freedom to come and go as she pleases but 24/7 on site help if she needs it. A very active lady all her life she is now frail but not nursing home level the new home is a perfect solution and we will know she is safe. It should be an interesting experience with the restrictions although family members are moving her which makes things easier. I will need buckets of hot chocolate and stress relief cake tonight. Have a good day everyone the sun is shining and someday all will be right with the world again.

Hugs to you all as I have had a wobbly weekend. Explain it all later. Night night.

Puzzler61 Sun 02-Aug-20 22:32:28

Oh Doodle I miss our Skool shenanigans too - has Willa left us and graduated do you think? Haven’t seen her.

I hope Miss Marydoll is going to be feeling much better very soon - I don’t think she can cope with us skoolgurls at the moment.

Bless anniebach . Both of you look after the BD thread diligently and with much compassion for your ‘gang’.

I imagine Grandmafrench may be sleeping outside in a hammock this weekend as it’s so very hot where she is.

TOYA. Good night, rest well ?

NanaandGrampy Sun 02-Aug-20 20:34:32

Evening all!

Spent the day completing new masks for the family and then enjoying some peaceful time in the garden.

In terms of bubbles Anno , I would have thought if you leave 14 days between being with one bubble you could then be in a different bubble?

Happy Annivery Ann , I’m glad you enjoyed your meal out ! It’s one of the things I miss most .

We are actually going to the supermarket tomorrow - who would have thought that would be the highlight of my week ?

Hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing weekend.

soop Sun 02-Aug-20 18:12:08

Doodle Tyke!!!

Just popping to say farewell until tomorrow. An afternoon of stuff that has taken far longer than anticipated. I have not forgotten you all. Here is my usual smile and moon and (((hugs)))

Grandmafrench Sun 02-Aug-20 17:20:18

Just lost a long message. So you’re all spared!

Will just say have a wonderful evening in this busy Kitchen.

Au ‘voir from the sunny pool edge - 30 degs water/ 37 degs air. I should have paid more attention to which buttons I was pressing! Ah well. Catch up tomorrow. Take care. Hugs to all x

Doodle Sun 02-Aug-20 17:12:15

Oh puzzler thank you. You are very kind. It is in fact anniebach who is the stalwart of the Black Dog Gang and many, myself included, have been grateful for her help over the years. I just keep her company most days ? I also visit the Argy. lemon is the boss (well bossy anyway ?) and I am the cleaner Assistant manager ?. soop is the cook and table dancer but she likes to keep that part of her life private ?
I also have the privilege of being part of the lovely “gangsters” on the lockdown thread.
I’m glad you’re in the kitchen as I miss our meetings as part of the St Trinians mob at Marydoll’s school. As you can see I’m a sort of split personality. ?
corner glad things are a bit better.
grannygravy how lovely of your sister and BIL to adopt some children. I hope they are all happy together. ?
DH will watch the GP too and I will watch and read at the same time.
puzzler I remember taking my china doll to a “Doll’s hospital” . Unfortunately, her careless mummy dropped her and her head split. After a week she was allowed back home carefully mended and sporting curly hair to cover the crack. ? I’d forgotten all about that till you mentioned it. ?
ann hope you enjoyed your Sunday roast.
TOYA ?

Puzzler61 Sun 02-Aug-20 16:04:42

Izabella poor Teddy may need a respite few days in a Teddy Bear hospital to recuperate (are there still Teddy bear and Doll’s Hospitals? There used to be).
Don’t worry these things happen - and Teddies are very forgiving I hear.

Puzzler61 Sun 02-Aug-20 16:02:23

Don’t know where the ?
came from ....

Puzzler61 Sun 02-Aug-20 16:01:37

Ooh, I’m on a chair in the corner soop with a napkin tied round my neck in case I don’t catch the cream cheese and crumbs in time. It sounds delicious and right up my street? ?
You’re very kind.

soop Sun 02-Aug-20 14:52:12

Puzzler a good pal has given us a still warm from the oven banana/fruit loaf. I've smothered a large slice with cream cheese. I've also reserved one for you. x

soop Sun 02-Aug-20 14:50:23

Sunday greetings dear peoples. It is sunny and warm - perfect for a lazy day of doing exactly what we choose.

corner I'm pleased to hear that your previous worritsome blip seems to have been resolved.

Izabella Us lot love you. Teddy will continue to do likewise. However, he may wish to refrain from a further spin in the washer for the foreseeable. wink

Susan Home grown vegetables are the best on the planet. Our pal has given us some home-grown courgettes. He has the greenest fingers in the village.

annsixty Enjoy a perfectly delicious Sunday roast. Wish that I could join you.
Grandmagravy and then I might join you for a portion of rack of lamb. My mouth waters at the very idea.

dustyangel Welcome back. I visit our kitchen daily. I've yet to "catch up". This lot are super-turbo charged. grin

Puzzler61 Sun 02-Aug-20 14:37:01

Grannygravy what a lovely weekend you’re having?
My DH is watching the GP too.

annsixty be kind to yourself today, ?

Welcome dustyangel. This is one of the friendliest threads if not THE friendliest thread on gn.

Soop may I borrow some of your huge Gunnera leaves please to shade me from the hot sun this weekend in my garden? I am struggling with just a paltry B&Q parasol.

Hi Doodle you kindly wish everyone else well - may I do the same to you? You do a wonderful job of manning (or womanning) the “Black Dog gang” thread and deserve a long service medal I feel.

Happy Sunday to you all. No cake or flowers today I’m afraid - I do very little on a Sunday.

cornergran Sun 02-Aug-20 14:33:48

Agree with mnmb , *anno’. Only one bubble permitted x

cornergran Sun 02-Aug-20 14:31:45

Afternoon All. Thanks for the kind thoughts. Equilibrium re-established. The caller messaged this morning to tell me they had a really good nights sleep and feel so much better. Oh good I thought grin.

Hello dustyangel, not sure we’ve met. Yes, cake always appreciated if you’ve got any. Baking seems to be off the agenda here.

Hope lunch is good ann, flowers for your anniversary. Totally agree with you about the oddities in the restrictions. As one of ours was fond of saying as a teenager ‘ it does my head in’.

Finding your way home was positive izabella, good for you but please don’t misplace yourself again. Ted will forgive you I’m sure. Mine is 72, hasn’t had a wash for years but does get hoovered and steamed. The things we do smile

The sun has come out here, a restful, chilling afternoon for us both.

Take care everyone.

mbmb Sun 02-Aug-20 14:15:17

anno in regards to your bubble query, my understanding is that having chosen your bubble you have to stick with it. In other words, you can't have one bubble one week and another bubble the following week, so that if you are in a bubble with your family in Oxfordshire, you can't them bubble with your friend on a separate occasion.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 02-Aug-20 13:53:20

Our house guests have departed (my younger sister, brother in law and their newly adopted little children) we had a lovely and busy day yesterday, with Sis and I talking and sipping champagne until gone 1am, hours after the rest were asleep. It was bliss to catch up and sad as our Mum would have loved her new grandchildren.

GrandpaGravy is about to watch the British Grand Prix I am about to make a nice latte and read my kindle.

Sunday lunch will be around 7pm today (rack of lamb) as I am having a lazy one ?

Beautiful shrubbery soop ???

Izabella we cannot have you getting lost again please take care.

Wishing all kitcheners a peaceful and safe Sunday ?‍♀️

Susan56 Sun 02-Aug-20 13:48:34

corner?

Hope you have a lovely meal out Ann.I find the rules illogical too.We haven’t been out to eat yet but have visited both our daughters and my mum.Our eldest daughter lives in Wales so different rules to us?‍♀️

We have spent a lot of time looking at the garden and thinking Nannytopsy. Its DH’s first proper summer of retirement.Last year was spent recovering from surgery so he is really enjoying this year. All our vegetables for dinner are from our veg plot today.

TOYA and hope the rain has stopped now corner?

annodomini Sun 02-Aug-20 13:43:16

Oh Izabella, my almost 80-year-old bare teddy sends commiserations to your youngster. If I put mine in the washing machine he would be even more bare!
I agree, ann, that there's not a lot of common sense in the edict that we can't go and sit in someone's garden. Luckily for me, we are just outside Greater Manchester and I had a brew with a friend in her impressive garden yesterday between showers. I am joining my family's 'bubble' in Oxfordshire next weekend. I don't know how you're supposed to create these 'bubbles'. A friend in Bramhall - in Greater Mancs - thinks I could join hers and I hope she's right. Maybe someone here can put me right on the make-up of a 'bubble'.

Nannytopsy Sun 02-Aug-20 13:14:46

Hello dustyangel. Did you bring cake?
Progress being made in the garden but so slowly. We do a lot of sitting and thinking and not so much doing!

Doodle Sun 02-Aug-20 10:52:02

corner sorry for your troubles, hope the situation improves soon.flowers
ann enjoy your Sunday roast. I am envious ?
dustyangel I know exactly what you mean. The kitchen is such a loved and needed place. I’ll save you a cosy chair for later. Enjoy your brunch ?
Oh izabella your poor teddy. 68+, that’s some achievement. Sorry his growl is missing. I expect he was a little shocked by going round in the washing machine. Nice and clean now though.?

Izabella Sun 02-Aug-20 10:30:07

Good morning from a sunny Shire. Words and thoughts appear to have disappeared into the ether, so I will merely say TOYA, keep safe and I will return when I return to planet earth.

Note: I have had a couple of really silly days. Lost CH in town, found my way back and then for some unearthly reason (and I cannot remember doing it) decided my beloved 68+ year old teddy needed a wash so bunged him in the washing machine. He will never be the same again and he growls no more.

dustyangel Sun 02-Aug-20 09:56:18

Right, I thought, there’s only 50 posts on Soop’s Kitchen I can pop in and catch up and THIS time I will stay caught up. I know you understand what I mean. And I see you’ve got a freezer full of mini magnums (I might have misread that) You must have known that I’d be calling in today. wink
I still haven’t caught up, but if I don’t actually put my feet on the floor,I’ll be too late to get ready to go out for brunch.
Back later, it’s good to see you all.

annsixty Sun 02-Aug-20 09:47:03

Good morning all. Corner commiserations on the phone call, I am no stranger to those and they do take a while to get over.
Today would have been our 62nd wedding anniversary.
Yesterday it was on my mind all day, remembering the anticipation, remembering other anniversaries, the last few going by unnoticed by my H but today I feel ok about it, just part of life’s rich pattern.

My GD and I are going out for a Sunday roast, only allowed here because we live in the same house.
I am sad to say this partial lockdown is not being observed like the last one was.
People are saying things like, we are being careful, we are making our own minds up.
I hope it doesn’t all come back to bite us in the b..

Can you see the logic of my GD and I going for a meal, socially distancing, but in a restaurant indoors, when we are not allowed now to have a friend in the garden for coffee and a chat?
Seems totally illogical to me.

Oh well Boris knows best??

cornergran Sun 02-Aug-20 09:21:54

You’re right Charley, moving would be an excellent idea. Raining again ?. Oh well, won’t need to water the garden. Very slow start in cornerland, still wiped out by a long, highly emotional phone call last night. Hope the day improves as I do with some air to blow the deposited worries away. Enjoy Sunday everyone.
