Good evening everyone. I am sitting in the garden by the fire pit, which is having its first outing. Surprised at how much warmth comes from it. DH just returning from putting DGC to bed. The family came for a takeaway then left the littlies here. All very impromptu and satisfying!
Progress was made in the garden today - it’s so much easier when it’s a bit cooler.

I'm pleased to hear that the wee dog's thyroid reading is greatly improved. It's good to hear that he's "cheerful" - a bit like our almost-but-not-quite resident baby vole. MacSporran is very protective.

I've done a lot of gardening. No tumbles. All most productive. The gardener friend has promised to call by (when he has some spare time, as he's inundated with work) and he will hopefully help us to "rationalise", for want of a better word.
It has been a gloriously sunny day. The breeze has deterred the pesky midges, for which we're both thankful. There isn't a wisp of a cloud in the sky.
Away to relax with the newspaper and a large mug of tea. G&T at nine. Whoopee! I shall raise my glass and toast all our Kitcheners. Wishing you a pleasant weekend. 
Cooee Kitchen types! Do hope you are having a good Saturday. So pleased that you're well on the way to sorting out the tooth problem, Charley. Never a topic for civilised conversation, in my book. Hate all things Dentist, but it has to be faced. I have had a number of crowns over the years and this has usually involved removal of the root in the tooth first. It means, I think, that the tooth to be crowned is not as strong, but on the other hand it could lead to the sort of situation in which you now find yourself. At least you are having someone who knows what is what, dealing with it. Until then, as you say, no point in thinking about it. Unwarranted angst - and we don't want any of that if we can avoid it.
The news is getting soooooo bad that you must hear the squeaking from our house all the way to where you are. Or, perhaps you don't hear because you are encouraging a menagerie of God's tiny creatures in your gardens and their squeaking is drowning mine out. . See what I mean about Voles, soop. They're like Shrews....little tiny scampering creatures who can visit a trap and dine on peanut butter and then leave again. Normally you'd be none the wiser. I think it's lovely that he is currently being fostered. I did wonder if the lovely canoe photo you have posted is another slightly weary mees removal company - ferrying naughty mees along the coast and back to nature. A sort of regular evening trip.
Glad your time with little H is working out well and you are being cheered by Mathilda, Susan. (Must check if there's an 'h' in her name or not.) Bet you're tired, though. Get those feet up in between visits. I would. I have been making more masks for what appears to be a worsening situation, doing work in the garden, getting on with our joint new diet in order to shift some poundage and celebrating our little boy dog's excellent thyroid readings, even after 15 days. He has gone from off (the bad end of) the scale to just on the high side of normal. So the dosage will be reduced a little for the next 6 weeks, when we'll have him tested again. He's very cheerful again and looking in much better condition, so we must hope.
Syn hope your plans are taking shape and both of you are not overdoing stuff outside! The little verse of the hymn probably stirs memories in us all. Is it true that most schools don't have assemblies any more - so no real reason for children to know those hymns? Quite sad if that's true, singing with others is so uplifting I think - even for children.
Since it is your birthday, Grandmabatty I hope that well ahead of your planned dinner tonight, you will manage a wee dram - if only as an encouragement for a nap. Bit of a calm before the storm sort of thing. As you said this morning, just getting people together these days involves quite a palaver - all that counting and bubbles etc., Please ONE DAY SOON, let it all be over. I'm off to buy some plants and just have a look at one of our beaches - first time since March. We didn't have the predicted storm today - it's sunny - but high winds.

Synonymous About "all creatures great and small" - MacSporran has become the protector/daddy figure to a teeny vole. It was discovered in my sock that I left with my gardening shoes. He gently placed it outside. Thereafter, on three occasions, it has re-visited the utility room and has a meal of peanut butter left in a humane trap. Three visits and three trips back into the garden. MacS says that the wee creature is far too young to be taken too far along the road and deposited in a new territory. Therefore, it appears, wee vole will dine with us and then be carried back to the garden.

Going back seventy years ago, I can recall all the faces of the children that I was at school with. I also remember all their names. Yet I often have great difficulty remembering names of people I've been introduced to recently.

Takes me right back to my childhood and to both School and Sunday School. I can even see some little faces that were very special, makes you wonder where they are now. I have little sis with me at present and we have been on many walks down memory lane, what a mix of emotions!

Grandmabatty I have felt drowsy. However, I have completely caught up with all the ironing. Result! No expedition into the wilderness (garden). I have a strange feeling that Galen is lurking in the shrubbery.

Susan When in charge of a wee one, there is no need of a sedative at bedtime. Sleep comes oh so naturally.
Charleyg Us lot will be right beside you during your root removal. You will feel the good will vibes.
We were partaking of our usual morning exercise when our friend hailed us from her motor..."Drop in after your walk for a wee chat and a wee dram"...so we did. I am not gardening this afternoon. I may attempt to do a pile of ironing instead.
Oh Charleygirl I sincerely hope that is not as ouchy as it sounds.
