Joint mortgage - ex won't cooperate in sale

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

A friend of a friend has a joint mortgage with his ex partner. It has been rented out and now he has taken decision to sell, which the ex has agreed to.

What has taken course through the whole process is the ex being totally and utterly ( and I mean totally and utterly ) a complete bitch ( and that is putting it VERY mildly )

This friend of a friend is having to pay the mortgage payments out of his own pocket, the ex won't disclose her address, only phone number and trying to get in touch via the phone number is like getting 'blood from a stone'.

What can be done ? What avenue can this person go down to end this nightmare once and for all.

I feel so absolutely sorry for him.

I'm afraid this is a situation for the legal professionals. No simple way through.
The action that can be taken will depend on the original purchase and mortgage agreement and it may need to be enforced by court action.

There's nothing else he can do.

The problem with 'friends of friends' is that it is not always possible to know the full story. I have a feeling that the ex concerned will have a different point of view, which probably doesn't involve her being described in such a sexist and unpleasant manner, but we will never know.

I agree with the others, therefore, that the best advice for the 'foaf' is that he should speak to a solicitor.
