Well, that was a weekend to forget; not that it matters when locked down, but it’s always cheerful when sunlight streams in even though it might be freezing outside.
Thank you Megs! I must pass that on to Michelle and I’ll add a rider, “BMWs, designed by women for women drivers!” Although it’s the so-called SUVs that are the scariest! When we arrived here the real menaces were elderly gents wearing bush hats, sometimes with corks still attached! and driving big 8-cylinder station wagons! Fortunately rising fuel costs put them out of business.
AGAA4 There are more than enough lemons for the whole street and this season has been very prolific, but whereas in the past it was customary to put the surplus out by the front mail-box as freebies, there’s very little foot traffic. It used to grieve me to see lemons in Woolies selling at 25 cents each; probably more now.
Our cumquat and pomegranates did well, must have been their turn for a good season, but for some reason Vera never did much with them; perhaps it was too messy with the seeds and what have you. The parrots love them though, sitting up there pecking away , spitting out anything not to their taste. and it’s lovely to watch them in their multi-colour plumage, even though I have to go out there after each meal-time to sweep aside the left-overs!
A 2 year pandemic!? If that involves repeated lock-downs or even curfews, then “Help”! It’s too early to tell whether our controls are working, although new cases are slowly decreasing, but latest o’seas news indicates we are far better off than many other countries. Unfortunately, 17 more deaths yesterday
Grandmabatty Jan returned some of the lemons today in the form of delicious cookies and lemon sponge cake! No lemon meringue pie, but beggars can’t be choosers as they say: I well remember it as one of Vera’s specials.
Obviously your Grandson is not allergic to peanuts, but our No.1 Son developed all sorts of dairy food food problems shortly after coming off the breast, plus, of course, peanuts! Vera was really challenged to come up with nourishing alternatives having in effect having to work up separate menus! “Happy days” Now he’s 64, 6ft.2in. and still in the workforce. Fortunately none of their 4 children have any food allergies.
Haven’t come up with your next challenge, come to think of it neither have you! need to learn with “Shetland” still on.!
Good Health Everyone
