Has anyone put it on yet.

Marydoll Wed 26-Aug-20 11:22:27

Depends how far away you are! I wouldn't want to put you out.??

Enjoy your day, at least the rain is off.

Esspee Wed 26-Aug-20 11:10:59

Hi Marydoll. Sorry to hear you feel the cold badly. We are comfortable with 19C during the day and 21C in the evening.
Shall I come over with a blanket?

Marydoll Wed 26-Aug-20 11:05:57

Espee, I don't live in the city itself. The Glasgow postcode covers a wide area.

Some my colleagues used to come from five miles away and were astonished to have to struggle through the snow, when they arrived, having seen no sign of any when they left.
I used to send a text message to warn staff of the road conditions near the school.
I obviously, unfortunately live in a different micro climate from you.

That great to hear you have managed to eat outside.?

Please check the morning thread and you will see exactly how the weather is where I am.
My medical conditions mean I feel the cold very badly. 19° inside is quite uncomfortable for me.

Horses for courses.

Esspee Wed 26-Aug-20 10:39:00

Marydoll. I live in the same city as you. This year we have eaten outside about 10 times more than last year. Spring, during lockdown was stunning. Summer average.

I can’t be living in my own little microclimate, surely.

Right now it’s 13C outside and 19C inside. The heating last switched itself off at 10:00 last night.

Esspee Wed 26-Aug-20 10:32:05

This is 2020. Heating comes with timers and thermostats so you don’t need to switch it off and on.
We live in the west of Scotland, so yes, it clicked on yesterday and has done on and off all “summer”. It hasn’t come on this morning. We never think about it, our house is always comfortable and that’s what matters.
To answer your possible question 4 bedrooms, £45 per month.

Calendargirl Wed 26-Aug-20 10:24:15

No.

Charleygirl5 Wed 26-Aug-20 10:22:59

Marydoll the scorching temperatures have long gone but I am sitting here without a cardigan on- very unusual for me.

Being Scottish, I leave the heating off for as long as possible and although I am rarely cold I do watch the timing.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 26-Aug-20 10:16:30

I have a stable door in my kitchen-diner, it is always open come rain, snow or hail (GrandpaGravy despairs) I only close it if the rain or snow is being blown directly into the kitchen. I cannot cope without fresh air, I just like being in the open whatever the weather.

Am having double glazing fitted right now ,no doors or windows and pretty chill and breezy.

I live in a small hard to heat, with damp in places council flat so I hope that this will either fully or partially relieve damp problem.

By nature I feel the cold quite a lot
So hoping by tonight all draughts will be banished and I will as snug as the proverbial bug

henetha Wed 26-Aug-20 09:54:47

No, but I had the boiler serviced yesterday, so I'm prepared.

Marydoll Wed 26-Aug-20 09:54:19

Do those experiencing the unbearable heat take pleasure in rubbing it in how uncomfortable you all are, to those of us who are wearing layers to stay warm! wink grin

timetogo2016 Wed 26-Aug-20 09:53:18

Nope.

grannysyb Wed 26-Aug-20 09:43:12

No, still sleeping under linen sheet and lightweight cotton blanket!

seacliff Wed 26-Aug-20 09:38:34

Whaaat!! No.

BlueSky Wed 26-Aug-20 09:36:44

No but as soon as the temperature drops its comforting to be able to just switch it on for a quick burst first thing in the morning and late in the evening! I appreciate it more than most as my first husband refused to have any heating on, one of many examples of his unreasonable behaviour.

Marydoll Wed 26-Aug-20 09:34:43

It's really cold here in Glasgow. I would gladly swap with all of you who are complaining about the heat !
We haven't all had high temperatures, in fact we haven't even had a summer here!! sad

Chewbacca Wed 26-Aug-20 09:29:34

Put it on for an hour or so yesterday when we got back in from a very wet and windblown walk, but not today.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 26-Aug-20 09:28:18

Noooooooo !!!!!

Marydoll Wed 26-Aug-20 09:25:16

Ours is on just now!

Rosalyn69 Wed 26-Aug-20 09:24:38

downtoearth Wed 26-Aug-20 09:24:27

Thinking of it

eazybee Wed 26-Aug-20 09:22:49

No.
I washed a towelling dressing gown yesterday but had to bring it in from the line because of the rain, and it is still not dry this morning. No heat in the house.

kittylester Wed 26-Aug-20 06:56:19

Ours has come on quite a few mornings lately.

tanith Wed 26-Aug-20 06:52:27
