After a long Bank Holiday now back to some sort of normality
Things seem to get better. Today it's a long awaited day out to cotswolds
Although with people still feel alone but has to be dealt with

Marydoll Wed 02-Sept-20 11:25:52

Megs, I have always tried to respond to you, as I know it bothers you, but GN is a very big place, with thousands of posters, so people think they are being ignored, when it is not deliberate.
I worry when people respond to me, it usually means I'm in trouble! wink

As far as I can remember and my memory isn't too good either, but no-one is ever unkind on Mick's thread.
I have experienced nothing but kindness, even at the very beginning all those years ago, when I was seriously ill, trying to support my seriously BIL into the bargain, knew no-one and no-one knew me.
The two whom I remember clearly were Maw and Kitty and they continue to support me, with many other lovely grans I've gotten to know, along a continuing rocky road.

I will continue to defend Mick and his thread, from posters who don't really know the thread or us, against accusations of cliqueness.
There is so much negativity on GN at the moment, kindness costs nothing, but enriches the recipient's life.
I hope stevie gives us a chance to show that kindness to him.

Sermon over, until I find my next cause. grin

PS Isaid rarely!

Megs36 Wed 02-Sept-20 10:42:31

Mardoll, I bow my head in shame, Iguess my memory is going. Must be my age!

EllanVannin Wed 02-Sept-20 10:39:14

I don't know what I've got for eyes but I've only just noticed this thread grin

Urmstongran Wed 02-Sept-20 10:30:48

I don’t feel Mick’s thread is at all cliquey! Everyone is welcome.

JenniferEccles Wed 02-Sept-20 10:29:38

I don’t agree at all that the Good Morning thread is cliquie.

If it appears that way it’s because some posters have been regulars on that thread for years, charting their daily lives, so have got to ‘know’ one another over that time.

Some people have had a hell of a time over the past year and it’s been really lovely to see the genuine support they have received.

Newcomers to the thread are invariably given a warm welcome so it’s hard to see where the cliquie accusations come from.

BlueSky Wed 02-Sept-20 10:16:14

Megs some posters are very popular, some are made to feel, rightly or wrongly, that they are the perennial new girl in school. You are right some are told off, while others can say whatever they want. I guess they are feared, being very vocal people with strong personalities.

JenniferEccles Wed 02-Sept-20 10:11:52

I seem to remember that Stevie mentioned bereavement on an earlier post and it was suggested then that he would get support if he started a thread on the Bereavement section.

Michael’s Good Morning thread is a long established one and it’s very confusing to have two identically titled threads, but if Stevie posted under Chat on any other subject under the sun he would get a response!

MawB2 Wed 02-Sept-20 10:09:04

Hear, hear Marydoll - you are the last person in the world to be accused of cliqueyness and as you say, let’s not build this up into something it isn’t.
I am glad Stevierichards that you seem to be beginning to see a light at the end of your personal tunnel - remember there are so many people who are willing to offer “virtual” friendship whenever you want to reach out.

Marydoll Wed 02-Sept-20 10:00:55

Why are posters trying to turn this into something it's not? It's just stirring.
It's not about stevie being a rival to Mick, it's about encouraging him to interact and hopefully find the support, he so obviously is seeking..

I responded to stevie early in the morning on a number of times, as he appeared to be very lonely, but he didn't have the courtesy to respond.
So I will not be trying again.

Megs, as for people not responding to you, you have said this so many times.
Many posters congratulated you on your Golden Wedding last week and have responded to you on a number of other occasions.
No-one, as far as I can see, has ever shot you down, that is very unfair to posters, who have shown you nothing, but kindness.

I wish there was an exasperated icon. I'm fed up with all this niggling on GN just now. ?

Megs36 Wed 02-Sept-20 09:42:41

Got to agree with some othersStevie that the ‘other/original’ GM post often sounds cliquey, when I. mentioned this before ages ago I got shot down rather. I rarely get replies or comments so I really can’t comment.

marpau Wed 02-Sept-20 09:29:44

I think if OP wanted to join Michael's thread he would no need to suggest it more than once. Variety is good.

BlueSky Wed 02-Sept-20 09:15:14

Exactly Riverwalk we have explained to Stevie that there is already a popular thread called Good Morning by Michael. We warned people may not reply, if s/he wants to carry on its up to him/her. You can carry on supporting the original, the new one, both or neither.

I know variety is good and more the merrier, but do we need two identical threads? Keep up the good work 12Michael.

That sounds very cliquey. Does it really matter if someone posts a duplicate thread? There are lots of threads on the same old subjects.

It's a public forum.

Dear me stevierichards you seem to have stepped on someone’s toes! What a shame!

Harris, stevie isn't stepping on anyone's toes.

Posters have tried to explain to stevie , that he/she won't really get much of a response, as most people wait for Mick to start his thread.

If he/she posts on the other thread, I can guarantee that there will be plenty of support.

I am sorry you still feel alone Stevierichards - 5 o clock in the morning can be a hard time can’t it?
Not much hope of getting back to sleep and not a lot of point in getting up.
I hope your day out to the Cotswolds is enjoyable and that it lifts your spirits.

Charleygirl5 Wed 02-Sept-20 08:26:19

I agree with Marydoll I also have posted on Stevies threads on a number of occasions the reasons why his Good Morning thread will rarely be answered.

I suggest you listen to us yet again.

Marydoll Wed 02-Sept-20 08:17:27

I have posted on Stevie's middle of the night thread on a number of occasions, but he has never responded to any posters or kind suggestions that he joins Michael's thread.. ☹️

cornergran Wed 02-Sept-20 08:12:19

Hello stevie, just adding to the gentle suggestions you join in with us on the 12Michael thread from about 6.30, sometimes earlier. It’s easy to find, why not take a look?

kittylester Wed 02-Sept-20 07:37:29

Morning Stevie! It has been a tradition for 12Michael to start the good morning thread. We"d all love to learn more about you in there.

Please join us

Goodbyetoallthat Wed 02-Sept-20 06:25:06

Good morning from a rather grey South Wales with rain forecast for later. Am preparing to go back into work later this week for the first time since March.
Have a good day!

fatgran57 Wed 02-Sept-20 06:17:28

This poster does not seem to read the comments from kindly gransnetters gently pointing him to the regular and original Good Morning thread.

I wonder why he persists in trying to create this copycat thread?

Scentia Wed 02-Sept-20 06:02:20

Michael has an imposter!! I’m waiting for the regular staff.
