What to wear with this skirt?

Hi all,
I've fallen in love with the pictured skirt, but I can't decide what to wear it with as the matching vest top is sold out except in a 14, and I'm an 8.
What do you think would look nice with it? X

FH has already told us on another thread that she is somewhat younger than many on GN, so perhaps strappy tops are not an issue for her, especially as she is a size 8 MawB.

I wouldn’t wear a predominately white lightweight linen skirt with a tropical print in the winter , but you could wear it now with a white shirt and loafers. I’d then put it away till next summer.

MawB2 Thu 17-Sept-20 05:18:37

The colours are just what I was suggesting, I just think that given the time of year, a strappy cami on its own might only be viable for the next few days , hence my suggestion of silk ot crepe shirts. Yes it’s a summer skirt, but transitional pieces can be worn into the next season with other tops.
I hope you have a bit of a tan, as from my observation, not many older women have the décolletage or upper arms for strappy tops for daytime wear except in the garden or on the beach, especially out of high summer)

Ducks as there will be howls if protest from those who do

It’s a summer skirt so I’m not sure you need to match it with wintery tops. White short sleeved shirt or t shirt gets my vote.

That is a lovely skirt, and I am envious of your size eightness smile.

For autumn/winter, I think a plain round neck cardigan would look lovely, worn Nigella style, on its own, fitted, with the top couple of buttons left undone. Sage would look great, or possibly a rich camel.

I think I'll go with the sage. Thanks. X

Sage looks better

Callistemon Wed 16-Sept-20 23:05:09

Buy both!

flyinghandbagisback Wed 16-Sept-20 23:00:50

Or what about this? X

flyinghandbagisback Wed 16-Sept-20 22:59:09

Would this look nice, or a sage colour? X

Is it more of a peach?
Be careful because pinks are difficult to get right

I like that skirt.

It's a sort of dusky pink, I think. X

This might ‘go’ with it, as the weather gets cooler - it’s from Peacocks too, so may well match colour wise.

Thanks so much! X

I think I'm going to get a nice camisole in a pink or sage colour. X

flyinghandbag I’ve actually got the top but I don’t think I’d wear it with the matching skirt. As suggested, a plain top, picking out one of the colours would look much nicer. Peacocks have some lovely things in at the moment. Good quality linen dresses in attractive designs for about £20.

MawB2 Wed 16-Sept-20 22:32:37

I would pair it with a mossy green or soft pink silk or crepe shirt.Either French tucked or loose and if you want to leave it partly unbuttoned add in an ivory silk cami.
Nude shoes, either heels or ballerina flats

LadyBella Wed 16-Sept-20 22:28:14

I absolutely love it. A white top would look great but for the autumn months perhaps a top in one of the darker colours which look like green perhaps? Very smart and attractive.

JenniferEccles Wed 16-Sept-20 22:25:50

A nice crisp white short sleeved shirt would be perfect.

flyinghandbagisback Wed 16-Sept-20 22:12:36

I am furious... they do a dress the same and it's beautiful and only in stock in a 14. X

Plain colour white or same pink would look best

Thanks. X

A plain top picking out one of the colours-white/pink/green-if you can get the right shades. A top in the same pattern would be too much, in my opinion.

Thanks... I just couldn't think of anything, which is unusual for me as I have been told I have a good fashion eye. X

GrannyGravy13 Wed 16-Sept-20 21:50:46

Totally agree with qq pick out one of the colours and go for a simple t shirt or fine knit
