Had a bad fall in the (walk-in) shower ?

Hi all,
I went for a shower around 12:45 and slipped on a wet wipe when conditioning my hair, falling and hurting my knee. I lay there for around 5 minutes then tried to get up but I couldn't manage it then ended up hurting my arm as I fell back down.

I knocked the shampoo and conditioner bottles from the alcove at the side of the shower in the process too, and the conditioner went up the wet wall and on the floor of the shower, which I didn't realise at the time.

I then lay there for a further 5 minutes trying to see if mum would come in to the house to help me up (she was out cutting the grass) but she didn't, so I decided to try to stand up (I was at the other end of the shower from the shower head, and in a corner of the shower with the alcove above my head), got half-up and then my hands slipped on the conditioner on the wall, landed on my knees which slipped on the conditioner on the shower floor, hit off the wall and ricocheted onto the shower door, so hard it opened outwards, even though it is supposed to open inwards and the clip was on.
My father heard me hitting off the door from upstairs and came in to the toilet to see if I was okay (the shower curtain was shut), realised I couldn't get up and that the floor was swimming with water due to the doors opening, and went to get mum from the garden to help me up.
It took ten minutes to get me up, and mum wanted to phone an ambulance but I forbade her as I was naked. Once she got me up, I could hardly stand, so she had to help me finish my shower then help me upstairs so I could put my clothes on.

All in all, I was on the floor of the shower for 25 minutes. My whole body hurts, especially my arm as I hurt it when I fell the second time and it bounced off the wall then I landed on it when I slipped on the conditioner.

I am very sore, but I am going to do my hair, put on my makeup and go into the garden. X

After I broke my leg in 2011 I kept on falling even when it was better. I was referred to the falls clinic at the hospital and my balance was assessed and they decided it was a weakness in my leg and environmental factors. After a while everything was fine. If you keep falling maybe there's a reason for it. Your GP could refer you to get you assessed. Worth thinking about.

I'm a recent poster on GN but the OP in that time has had a great number of dramatic falls, resulting in bleeding etc. There are a couple of possibilities ; she has health issues which should mean closer supervision by her carers and doctors or she is making it up. There are a number of genuinely kind people commenting here and offering advice. I would hate to think they were being taken in. If all these 'accidents' are true, then the OP needs to address her serious health issues before posting on GN.

I slipped in the shower FGS... why does that equal serious heath issues? X

You have yourself told us you live with your parents because you fall over a lot.
That equates to health issues in my book.
Many of us here are possibly 30 years older than you and have not catalogued such a chapter of accidents - even with hip and knee replacements or arthritis

To whom it may concern

FH threw a hissy fit and told myself and some other members to "fuck off". I can't comment as to the others were, as the post was deleted by GNHQ before I saw it.

TBH, I'm surprised that FH has been allowed back.

Now, time for this:

How do you know if you didn't see it? I told you to F Off after weeks of you being unkind to me. X

Says it all. “weeks of being unkind” sounds like an exaggeration and as you say FH if you don’t like what someone posts, don’t read them.
I am also surprised GNHQ let anyone back after this sort of behaviour.
“Personal attacks” bring strictly against netiquette.

The other thread did make quite uncomfortable reading.
Now let's hope this one gets deleted.

Marydoll Fri 18-Sept-20 20:06:06

I was on that thread.
However, once we start discussing it, it becomes a thread about a thread and you know what that means. wink

As phoenix says time to draw a _____________

Spot on, Grandmabatty. It's also extremely dull and takes up pages and pages of repeated messages. The OP's mood can veer dramatically between self pity and temper but the endings are always predictable : because despite almost life-threatening acrobatics and death defying "falls", a full recovery from all the 'incidents' is miraculously achieved by provision of a takeaway or hot chocolate. Some people might think "attention-seeking behaviour" - the sort displayed by a bored child - getting his or her kicks from writing nonsense and starting up threads which always end the same way. You need to be a bit more imaginative, FH., and less confrontational. However difficult life might be, there must be a lot more that you can talk about if you really want some level of interest/acceptance on a forum where most of the members must be as old as your own parents. Crying wolf just doesn't cut it after a while, nor does showing disrespect - especially towards some extremely kind and supportive and long-standing members of this Forum. I would always expect to be called out for a bad attitude/bad language/misuse of a thread - so why should you think yourself an exception.

Ohhh do stop being silly. Everything I post is 175% true. If you don't like my threads, don't read them. X

Make sure you have a really good nonslip mat. I’m very wary of hotel bathrooms for this reason as they rarely have them. I am so careful in the shower now because I know if I fell awkwardly I’d be stuck (manky left hip and right shoulder). I very much hope you feel a great deal better tomorrow. ?

FH I slipped on some mud and smashed my head on a rock! Horrible!

Ohhh that sounds horrible!! I'm sorry that happened to you. X

MissAdventure Fri 18-Sept-20 19:55:47

It should be called a "walk in, hobble out" shower.

I missed the four letter words, were they on a thread or by PM?

I have no idea. Phoenix just said FH told her to F off. I don’t know the details.

^I’m sorry Phoenix I didn’t realise FH had told you and others to ‘fuck off’ - now I understand your hostility^.
Maybe it may be better if you just avoided FH posts in the future.

Just to clarify - who was at fault in the FO scenario?
Why should Phoenix be penalised?
It’s like telling children who are victimised at school to keep out of the bullies’ way instead of addressing the behaviour issue at question

I’m sorry I don’t know.

MerylStreep I didn't see that particular post, it was deleted before I saw it (shame, I might have framed it) but pretty sure there were no hugs, kisses or flowers!

Oh well, I'll get over it.

Or - Never have a shower

Baths are hazardous too. Especially ones with steep sides.

I'm not especially kindly disposed to someone who has told me (and others) to "fuck off".

However I did take the time to make some suggestions regarding colours on "her" party thread.

I don't copy and paste posts, unless they help to make it clear which post I am responding too.

If you think any of my posts are against or break GN guidelines, feel free to report them.
