Sassenach512 "Stardust" dear Nat King Cole - his voice caresses the soul. My H would sing this to me.

Stardust- Nat King Cole
The very thought of you - Ella Fitzgerald

"Sailing" by Rod Stewart, reminds me so much of my lovely father who spent 25 years in the Royal Navy and buried at sea.

As a Liverpool FC Supporter - You'll never walk alone sung by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
However after the way they played yesterday I won't need that song to make me want to cry!

Haha love that song as well. Nearly as good as Man City FC last week!

Amazing Grace by Elvis, especially since my friend Jean chose it as one of the songs at her funeral. She died three years ago next Sunday and we were friends from the age of ten.

Unchained Melody and You Raise Me Up, both played at my husband’s funeral.

Abide With Me always brings a tear. It was written by Henry Francis Lyte who had been parish vicar in Brixham where I was born. It used to be played on the church bells at 8pm every evening but, I don’t think it is any more. Always played and sung at any family funeral.

I loved Joe Brown singing I'll See You in My Dreams at the memorial concert for George Harrison.

Bing Crosby singing 'I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places.'

glammanana Sun 04-Oct-20 17:39:40

Barry White singing "My First my Last my Everything" it has always been a favourite we played it when walking from the Chapel after Mr Glamma's funeral and very strange it came on the car radio when we where travelling home that day.

One of my friends had this played at his wife's funeral.
Still find it hard to listen to.

Won't say it makes me cry but like the ethereal beauty of it
Jon and Vangelis 'I'll find my way home'

Toadinthehole Sun 04-Oct-20 16:42:25

The main one for me is the main theme tune running through the film ‘ Schindler’s List’. Don’t know the name of it, but gets me every time?.

I love the music from Les Mis, but I literally cannot listen to 'Bring him home' any more. I was at a concert a few years ago, given by a very close friend, and she sang this song as a tribute to my late son-in-law. Similarly Dance with my Father and Hero evoke painful memories of the year that he was killed.

Music has always moved me. I remember visiting the Halle Orchestra at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on a school trip from Junior School; I found myself listening to this extraordinarily wonderful music and weeping, then being very embarrassed by my feelings.
