Hi all
I sometimes ponder over the meaning of posters' usernames and thought it might be an interesting topic for a thread.
My own "maydonoz" is the Turkish word for parsley, to reflect my many years living in Turkey, previously and also enjoy cooking so use many herbs, including parsley.
Some of you may wish to share your username meaning too.

TashaandRiver Tue 20-Oct-20 11:47:02

My two DGDs in Canada who turned me into a (longdistance) grandma.

cupcake1 Tue 20-Oct-20 11:43:03

Obvious really, I had cupcakes baking in the oven when I joined. Should have been Halloweencupcake31 as I was making them for my two DGD’s on October 31st!

Spec1alk Tue 20-Oct-20 11:42:48

What my husband calls me!

Stilllearning Tue 20-Oct-20 11:42:35

Chose mine in a fit of unwonted humility!

Chicklette Tue 20-Oct-20 11:38:54

When I was a teen someone called me ‘chick’. My friend commented I was too small to be a chick, I was a chicklet. And as my name ends in ette I changed it to chicklette.

MawB2 Tue 20-Oct-20 11:37:45

I chose my name as hommage to that great Scottish Domestic Goddess - Maw Broon. It has undergone a few minor changes and abbreviations, but is still intrinsically the same Maw

GrammarGrandma Tue 20-Oct-20 11:33:10

This has been fascinating! I am GrammarGrandma because I have a blog of that name: www.grammargrandma.co.uk/

Self-explanatory really.

BassGrammy Tue 20-Oct-20 11:29:40

My username is a combination of the fact that My grandson went through a phase of calling me Grammy, although that’s passed now and the fact that I sing bass in a barbershop chorus! Any other barbershoppers here?

Val14 Tue 20-Oct-20 11:29:35

Because I was born on Valentine's Day ❤

hulahoop Tue 20-Oct-20 11:29:32

gangstergranny Tue 20-Oct-20 11:28:35

25Avalon Tue 20-Oct-20 11:26:50

Because I come from Somerset, love the mystery of Glastonbury and the Isle of Avalon, have a number of apple trees in the garden from when it was the Orchard of the big house.
I just wanted Avalon but GN said it was already taken so I put 25 in as shorthand for silver So I am Silver Apples.

Growing0ldDisgracefully Tue 20-Oct-20 11:25:54

Mine comes from when I started riding motorcycles at age 50, and my aunt exclaimed in great delight that I was growing old disgracefully. That was 14 years ago, I'm still being disgraceful and my aunt is still up for enjoying life herself at age 94. We're a good example of not letting ourselves fade away.

tricia12 Tue 20-Oct-20 11:24:08

how do you change your user name?

TwinLolly Tue 20-Oct-20 11:23:32

My nickname used by my family plus... the first part.

recklessgran Tue 20-Oct-20 11:23:22

Probably a bit outing but mine is a family joke and goes back to a family holiday in Greece where on an inebriated Greek night I enjoyed myself dancing on tables. When I finally returned to our family group table my DGS exclaimed "Gran, that was so reckless!" There started a long standing joke between him and I whereby in every card we send to each other we put "stay reckless!" along with the usual love, hugs and all that jazz. [I am generally fairly reckless in lots of ways so I guess it suits me.]

allsortsofbags Tue 20-Oct-20 11:21:57

Mine is due to one DD asking the other DD if they had a certain type of bag they could borrow.

Answer was sorry no but "ask mum she has all sorts of bags".

Made me realise just how many sorts of bags I had :-)

These days I could also use "Far too many scarves" :-)

NotANana Tue 20-Oct-20 11:18:21

I don’t have children, so could never be a gran, or a nana.....

Aepgirl Tue 20-Oct-20 11:17:03

Mine means absolutely nothing - simply because I don’t want to be identified for security reasons.

Chameleon007 Tue 20-Oct-20 11:14:33

My maiden name was one colour when I married I changed surname to another colour - hence Chameleon. The 007 relates to my initials - JB

SophieBookupied Tue 20-Oct-20 11:11:50

I am occupied with writing books. And reading books.

Loistemple Tue 20-Oct-20 11:11:27

I was a fan of Lois Lane and Simon Templar in the 60’s and automatically introduced myself at the Locarno to any potential dancing partner as Lois Temple as I thought it sounded romantic.

ReadyMeals Tue 20-Oct-20 11:10:51

My name is because I hate cooking and use microwave ready meals as much as I can get away with before DH starts gently hinting "We've not had bolognese for a while, I've been fancying it lately"
